Here's another Episode 82!

Episode 122

Ben regales us with his thoughts and experiences attending his very first GDC.

Dates and locations sound good. I don't want to 100% commit just yet, but hopefully it won't be prohibitively expensive from here to October.

Episode 121

Do we finally feel free of limitations to make the games we want to make?
#64
Of the commercial games listed (which I believe are Detective Gallo, Football Game, Lamplight City, and Unavowed) all but one are priced at $14.99 USD, and Football Game is $1.99, meaning you can get them all for $46.96.

I don't want to hijack this thread and turn it into a debate about how much indie games should cost and all that, but I'll just say that it's very difficult to persuade people to pay $14.99 for an indie adventure game, and offering a discount to increase the voter pool just feels cheap to me.

No disrespect meant to Stupot, but as someone trying to make a living from these games, this is something I feel very strongly about.

Now I HAVE to go to this.

For your consideration:

The Gateway to Vespuccia, the City of Air and Light, Lamplight City—the thriving port city of New Bretagne is a beacon of progress and industrial advancement in the New World. Yet beneath the promises of a shining 19th-century future, the city rests upon foundations of poverty, class struggle, and crime.

For police detective turned private investigator Miles Fordham, Lamplight City's shadowy corners are just part of the territory. But with his former partner constantly speaking to him from beyond the grave, his grip on sanity is slowly loosening. Can Miles find justice for his clients and track down his partner's killer before his entire world comes apart?

Lamplight City is a detective adventure set in an alternate steampunk-ish "Victorian" past.

WE'RE ALIVE!

Episode 120

Catching up on the last six months.

Yes, the choice at the beginning is the only real "false choice" because it defines the story. However, it will have an effect on certain things Bill says throughout the game.

The optimal solution to a case will never be blocked off based on accusations made in previous cases.

I'm going to be rolling out an update next week which will allow you to declare a case unsolvable when a suspect is unlocked, in addition to closing off all leads. That way you won't be forced to accuse someone if you believe they're innocent.
