"WHAT?? Piggies burning in hell? Oh, ... the horror, the horror! ... "

Take your time - sounds like it'll be fun to play. (laugh)

Thanks for the support Tabata, and yes, I hope it will be fun to play. And, about the piggies, it is just a metaphor. ^^

I thought around thirty days was more then enough. I was wrong.

All pigs deserve to burn in hell is a game I've been working on as a part of a MAGS competition (with a theme "Something cold, Something burrowed, Something pink"). Unfortunately though, I couldn't manage to finish it on time. That is why I am going to put more time into it and make it better. :)

Story: Main character(whose name we never get to know) wakes up one day transformed into a pig. Once he leaves his warm house, he is confronted by a different world. On his journey to investigate the chaotic happenings around him he comes across the true meaning of it. No, it is not a dream.

What to expect: A very simple, point and click adventure game, with minor horror elements. Puzzles are fair, make sense within the game world and are not hard. Estimated game length should be around 20-30 minutes.

When to expect: Very soon!

The game is finished and it can be downloaded from HERE!

Update 3. February 2014.

I've finished working on all the graphics, now all I have left is to finish programming, so it could be playable, and then music and sound effects.

With everything done, there are 178 sprites and 23 different backgrounds.

Update 8. April 2014.
All pigs deserve to burn in hell is currently being play tested.
If you are interested in play testing check out THIS thread!

I'm really happy that you guys managed to finish your games on deadline. You have good time management, or at least you can measure how lengthy your MAGS game should be. Mine is way too long, and I though I could have finished it on time, but I'm not happy with the result. There are no sound effects nor music, and lots of bugs. I have not given up from my project however, I'll be working on it, and I hope to finish it next week. Good luck, and may the best game win! :=

EDIT: For those interested, click HERE if you want to find out more about the development of my game. ^ ^

And I'm hoping to see some more entries! There's plenty of time left, you can make it guys!

Mine is coming up soon! I've finished all the backgrounds and now I'm doing rest of programming and music. I doubt I'll manage to get it play tested though... If anyone is willing to volunteer his play testing skills PM me, although there's still a bit of work to be done. ^ ^

hi guys,
I was wandering if someone could point out when does this competition end exactly: can I submit my game during the 31st of january, or is it the end of 30th of january the deadline? If it is the latter, then I might not get enough time to get my game play tested, or do the music.

EDIT: Thanks for the quick answer Atelier! I'm happy now, yay!

First paragraph
The door opens, and a woman enters the room. She is in the kitchen looking for her cat. "Bubbles!", she cried, "I have made you lunch!". No sound is made and she does the same thing again, hoping that her pet would hear her. She had already known, though, that the first time she called the cat, she would've already been there.

Blurb
Somewhere, in a land far away, lived a charming lady named Bubbles. She lived in small box-shaped house with her loyal pet - cat named Lisa. She lived alone, isolated from rest of the society; she didn't have friends, nor enemies. Bubbles enjoyed her life in solitude. She was happy, until one day. One day everything went wrong. Her cat ran away from her, and she realized how alone she was. To stop the bad feelings she decided to leave her house, and search for her lost friend.

Happy birthday Grundislav! Ben Jordan games are one of my favorite AGS games, which inspired me to use AGS.
Spoiler
It also inspired me to become a paranormal investigator! My parents are very proud. :=

@BSP - looking good!  Hoping you have a  style allegory in your storyline.
Plot of All pigs deserve to burn in hell is inspired by works of F. Kafka(The Metamorphosis namely ). Just inspired though. Its surreal and has bits of horror elements. And a lot of dead people.

I've finished working on user interface and this is the final result:

Nothing special, but I thought I could share my progress on the game. I've finished 15% of what I have to do; so there is a lot of work ahead.
Also, there seem to be a lot of entries now; that is great, since it means more competition! Good luck everyone & stop giving up from your projects...

Basically, if the object is in the current room, you can access it using the object[] array.
Assuming the fridge door has ID #2: if (player.Room == 3) object[2].Visible = true;

IT WORKED! :cheesy:
Thank you sir.

And thanks Ghost and Monkey for trying to help!

Hello everyone,

I have walked into a minor problem, that I'm sure can be solved somehow(in fact, I already know the solution, but it is too complicated :=).

I was wandering if it was possible to affect objects of a certain room inside of dialog script? I have looked through the AGS manual and found no solutions.
as an example(what I'm trying to do): I want to change oRefrigeratorDoor.Visible to true inside of a dialog script; and the error shows up, as it finds the object unkown to the script.

The solution that I was talking about would be to define a global boolean and then use Repeatedly execute function inside of a room, where it would check when this boolean becomes true, so I could do that what I wanted to do inside of the room.

Therefore, is there a way to connect dialog script with room script(other than this complicated global variable/boolean thing)?

Thanks in forward!

Hi Moloko,
there is this free software called Bfxr that I heard a lot of indie developers use, and its not bad. Its based of an earlier program called Sfxr I think. It gives you ability to create 8 bit sound effects. Check it out!(you can download stand alone version for windows, if you like the software, you don't have to use the web based one). I haven't actually used it myself, but I think it could be useful.

Hello Dualnames,
I've recently played Dakota, so I wanted to share my opionion of it with you.
*It has an peculiar graphic style(in a good way; it reminds me of To the moon).
*It is driven by its atmosphere: great music and effects.
*Also, I've gotten so absorbed into the game, that I've gotten scared a few times .
**It's too short - but this was done at a great price to convey the story the way you thought it out, I guess.
Well done sir, 4/5 (4, because of shortness; the puzzles were almost non existant, but I feel this was more of an atmospheric game(like Amnesia or Dear Esther) rather then a classic adventure game).

If the pig wears some pink socks it's quite pink then...
It doesn't wear pink socks unfortunately. :~(
I mean, his feet are just one pixel large you could imagine he wears socks, right? :=

All pigs deserve to burn in hell
a work in progress

Plot: Main character wakes up one day to find that he has been transformed into a pig.
I won't say anything else, except that I've finished the whole story and I'm working on backgrounds, sprites and puzzles. The image represents the first room in the game and the main character.

Update: I'm working on snow effect in the game, which is quite an easy errand thanks to SnowRain plugin by Scorpiorus.

Atelier, I was wandering if it is enough that my main character is pink for the pink side of the game?

Good luck to everyone else participating!:)

That guy that's sick, can not talk and needs friends probably in some way represents what is happening with the protagonist. It shows his loneliness.
In the end he mentions a woman named Katarina, who is probably his lost love and/or wife.
The train represents his whole life and all the people he knew died at some point, and then he died in the end.
The character at the bar maybe is his conscience and is warning him not to drink, even though he really wants to.
I am not sure what does the "ticket guy" mean, and what is his meaning in the game. He is very misterious.
And I don't really understand the whole "Victorian Death" thing; is it just there cause it is creepy? I don't know.

And then there are these huge black bags with human corpses.

I think the whole game is about life and death, and how we burry people - and this game captures that in an maybe apsurd way, using horror elements.
I see this game as a work of art. It can be interpreted in a lot of ways.

This is just my opinion of Selpuchre.

A MAN WITH NO MOUTH

Long time ago in a country where people thought and spoke, lived a man with no mouth.
From the day when he was born he didn't know how to speak; nor did he intend to.
He worked at a Butcher Shop in that same country where people thought and spoke.
His simple and rather diquisting job was to clean the Butcher Shop.
He was a janitor - a mouthless janitor.

One day while he was cleaning blood from the floor with his mop he came across an enormous Pig Head.
He didn't know what to think for a moment, and then he came to a realization: "This Pig Head shouldn't be laying on the floor, I should get rid of it.".
And just as he approached it, the Pig Head spoke: "Hail, Mouthless Man!". The janitor panicked for a moment then stood there stunned. "I have a question for you.", the Pig Head cried, "What is your name?". The man was speechless. Silence. The Pig Head was waiting for an answer, but the silence prevailed. The Pig Head muttered: "Alright, if that's what you want, then I will give you a little insight into what you have been doing all your pitiful existence on this planet.". Janitor stood confused. "From day one everyone you know and meet tells you that you have no mouth. They tell you that you can't speak, you can't make noises, and that you should never try to do so. You believed them. You believed everything they said to you. You never questioned it. And now i question you - what is in my mouth?". The question was very hard to answer from the position where janitor was. He wanted to change that position. His curiosity forced him to do that, and he opened Pig Head's mouth. It contained quite ugly and dirty teeth and an old tongue. There was something on the tongue. That something was green and smelled horrible. It was a rotten apple! The man backed out and felt very sick - so sick that he wanted to leave Butcher Shop for good. And with a Pig Head talking, he thought he was hallucinating. "Come on, don't be afraid!", the Pig Head yelled,"Eat the apple!". Janitor was shocked. Why, he asked himself, would he listen to a talking Pig Head to eat a rotten apple. Everything that was happening felt like a dream. So he came to a conlusion; he decided to eat the apple. As he put it into his mouth he started chewing it. This process lasted for few minutes, as he swallowed the whole rotten thing and felt so sick - he vomited.

"So tell me", the Pig Head said, "Are you really mouthless? If you can eat, doesn't that mean that you have some sort of mouth? Does that mean that those people lied to you when they said you had no mouth? Yes. Yes it does.".

After eating this apple and coming to realization that he had a mouth, the previously mouthless man was so happy that he ran out of the Butcher's Shop and started dancing in front of it. Unfortunately he didn't notice he was dancing on the road and not in a disco club.

He was crushed by a medium sized car.

R.I.P. Man WITH Mouth

The Pig Head Yawned.

The End

EDIT: Fixed some grammar mistakes.
EDIT num. 2: Added a few fancy font effects.

Hi MurrayL,
I have just played the demo. The game is very good!(well from what I've experienced from the demo)
I really like the voice acting, and I think it is a very important element of this game as it makes the dialogues better.
Keep up the good work!
