The first adventure game that I've played - Larry 1. I played it on CGA monitor - no colors - only shades of green :) And I think that on CGA monitors the old games look much better than on EGA (16 colors). Now I'm trying to find a old PC with CGA monitor to run the old adventures again :) And I think that I can find an old 16bit PC in some factories here in Bulgaria where I live.

Oohh I see. Now I understand why many of my search engine referers on my website contains "cosmo" "old" and "game" :)

I can't find Cosmos Cosmic Adventure by Apogee in AGS games database.

That's because it's not an AGS game.

Cosmos Quest 3 - Mines of Isagor update:

Added:
- labels when the mouse is over hotspot or object
- footstep sounds (depends on the type the walkable area)
- idle view for main character
- label "Go" when the mouse is over area for the next room

I hope that this will increase the quality of the game.

Note: This changes are NOT applied in the DEMO that is available for download

Hints & Tips / Re: Cosmos Quest III Demo

Thank you Neon for the advice. In Cosmos Quest III I already made a GUI which will display hotspot's name when the mouse is over the hotspot. And I'm very happy with the result. The game looks friendly now :)

Okay, I found the console to enter it.

This hotspot is a little bit hard to find.
But this is not a problem with the hotspot itself, it's that well known Cosmos Quest behaviour, that a hotspot is not displayed when you drive your mouse over it. This was annoying in the first and second part (especially the wall outside the space station in part 2). Now i hoped that you would change it in part 3, but it's still the same.

Actually, this takes a lot of fun from the game.

But I'll give it a chance, part 3 looks much better than the first and second.

Too many "YES". I already made a GUI which will display the HOTSPOT'S name in Cosmos Quest 3. Thank you guys for the opinions.

Soon I will upload all Cosmos Quest versions in ZIP. I didn't know that .rar format is a big problem. Thank you linkin182.

Really? When my trial expired I just got rid of it, I'll have to check it out, thanks Neon!
#268
Thank you guys for the quick reply. I have decided: I will put a labels.
#269
Please help me. I can't decide which one is better for an adventure game. In my games Cosmos Quest I and Cosmos Quest II there are no hotspot labeling. I decided not to show it. But I received lot of critics about that. Now I'm making Cosmos Quest III. Do you think that hotspots labeling will increase the quality of the game. I will appreciate your opinions.

In the 3rd part of the game "CQ3: Mines of Isagor" the main character is Sergeant Getz (the one that Apo is looking for in Jaro Motor Inn in the 1st part of the game). He is the only one who is outside the Radion when Ayatolians are capturing the station. So he is the only one who can save his crew.

What happend to Apo... he is on the dark side now, obsessed by Niskia.

The Getz character's sprite is new. I changed the sprite because many people advised me to remove the SQ6 Roger's sprite. I also added a diagonal frames for walkcycle.

Thank you for the support.

Cosmos Quest III: Mines of Isagor (DEMO) is added in "AGS Games in Production" forum and in the games' database.

The game is removed by its author.

Does AGS 2.7 created games are compatible with Windows Vista?

I don't like adventure games where in every moment you know what to do and the game goes smooth. That why I made puzzles little harder. For those who said that there are illogcal puzzles I will say: "I can explain the logic of every puzzle".

Example (CQ2): Some people complained about the radiation block spray, and how they to know that it have to pluged in the shuttle. It's logical if you have radiation blocker to ask the security chief on the station (Kohen). He will tell you that the shuttles have multifunctional plug for those radiation block devices.

Another example (CQ1): Some people complained that its not logcal to take ink seal with boiled peeled egg from paper and to print it to another paper. Just try it. You will see that it works.

Cosmos Quest is not a comersial game. I'm making this game for those who are missing old sierra quests. And I'm happy that there are people that like the game, even with hard puzzles.

The criticism is good thing when you say bad things plus good things. About the game most of the people said: graphics are good, music fits well, atmosphere is great (1 line)... and then 10 lines puzzles sucks, hard puzzles, illogcal puzzles and e.t.c. puzzles.

I will continue to make this game, until still I have 1 fan of the game :)

PS: Soon I will post COSMOS QUEST III: MINES OF ISAGOR (DEMO)

It's not a bug! I didn't put an "exit" button in that room on purpose, because of the critical situation in that moment. It's not logical to put an "exit" button for a life-or-death situation.

The solution:
F5 - save game in the screen with the computer and password.
F7 - restore in the previous moment to find a password.
F7 - restore again in the screen with the computer and type the password.

Yes, it's a bug. kinenav sent me the password, but I accidently deleted it after I finished the game.

I tottaly give up from making the arcades in my future games. About your idea with selling and buying things on the different planets - It's good, I'm thinking about it. Soon I will post a demo for Cosmos Quest III.

I don't think the arcade games have to be too easy, just not too hard, and be able to save before, during and after said arcade mini-game easily, so you don't get frustrated and give up.

I don't know if you were thinking my idea be an arcade style game inside the game, it really isn't. Just give the options to fly to a couple of planets, maybe show a cut scene flying there, then when there, give  the player the option to buy low at planet 1, and sell high at planet 2 or 3, etc. Once the player has enough money he buys something he needs to continue the game...

Thank you Hansolo. I like the idea. It will be hard work, but it will be good!
One thing I learned from making Cosmos Quest II. The arcades are not good idea for adventure games. Maybe they are, but they have to be easy.

Quote from: hansolo0 on Wed 21/05/2008 06:08:20
To further my idea, you'd have to earn money for weapons by traveling to certain planets buying and selling goods perhaps so you could then get to another planet to finish or further your mission/the game....

One more...

When Kohen is gone, go and look at the same place where you saw the spy bot (upper left corner of the screen - outside the Raed Bar). You will see Kohen - working on spy bot...

I'm sure you missed this. When you take the radiation blocker device, go and show it to Kohen.

Then you should be playing the arcade as soon as you enter the bar because when you do it after Kohen drops his card, he's gone. So I never came up with that idea. I'll change the WT.

maybe this is what you missed: look at the bush, look at the note when you land on that station with that sad guy,  or whatever

I final question I can't seem to get spoiler blocks to work?? I've tried
Spoiler
spoiler space
[close]
and [sblock] spoiler space [/sblock] neither seem to work?

Overall I rate CQII 8/10 much better on length than pt I but still to short.

I think I got about the same points as Fribbi, I wonder what I missed?
