It looks really good! I am still trying to get my head round how you would play it :-\ It must be one of those games that you will pick up the minute you start playing it.

Anyway, I will definitely keep an eye on this and I wish you and your team good luck with the project ;D

Hello everyone again, I've spent the last month working on this walkcycle ::). Well not really, I have been busy with exams and little time expensive things.
I must say thank you for all your comments since my last post. I have read them, but I didn't realise till now that I never replied to them. So sorry for that! I didn't want this to start a walkcycle war, although I have been fighting most of the battle myself. So Progz and Spleen play nice ;D
Progz I did think of trying your approach originally, but I thought it wouldn't convey the movement and motion I was looking for.
Ghost sorry for having you to face your fears, Il put a warning in the title. Although it's ironic, scaring a ghost ;D. As you suggested I tried to make the body seem less static and move a little.
OneDollar Thanks for pointing out the shading thing, I dunno what I was thinking, somehow It looked right.

Anyways,

As you can see the front cycle isn't right. I've spent all day on it so please don't ask me to start over ;) But any wonderful comments are welcome, all mundane comments will be ignored :P ....Not really.

Next step: Backgrounds!!  ;D

I wanted to enter this month too, but the rules are pretty restrictive and for something to be pulled off successfully it would involve a lot of work. I mean in animation and music, maybe also a very detailed story. So I won't be participating this month :-\

I might find some enthusiasm for my other project this month instead ;D who knows?

I can't wait, it looks amazing! ;D

You would normally provide a link :-\ To save us all having to search for your game.

General Discussion / Re: What is Britishness?
Wed 06/02/2008 19:07:54
I think Britishness is all about the banter, which depends on what "class" you are. We (as a country) are generally middle class with the odd few extreme "upper class twits" and lower class "chavs/neds" which fuel our media daily. There is also different classes of how much money you earn and your job I think that is more of a factor in other countries.

Today we so diverse that we try to make the more morally right decisions, while trying it not to affect our own life. This is our problem and as a result, we get involved with a lot of things in the world while being such a small country. I'm proud of my Britishness, but more so for my Scottishness. And we take advantage of this common feeling of our citizens regularly to market our TV, music and film. The things that are most likely to make an impact and an opinion about Britain.

There, I tried to keep my response more media related  ;D

Or you could lie and say that you have had a death in the family or something, and ask if you can be given a few days to sort your head out e.t.c. :-\

It sounds a bit like counting your chickens. And the way you have made it sound, as Stupot said, you don't seem bothered for either job. So basically why don't you accept the first job. Also if you hear from the second company and they offer you a job too, and it seems a better in anyway, well accept that too and just call the first company. You haven't signed any contract, so nothing is holding you down so you could just quit.

But as I say, a bit of counting chickens :-\

Ok thanks for the comments guys, especially to Renal Shutdown. So I spent some time today to try and improve Mime Man. So after looking at RS's sketch cycle in depth, Iv only got the side walkcycle finished (maybe because its the easiest, and I've had the least trouble with it  ;D) And I'm quite happy with the outcome.

I added some shading, which has given more depth. Altered a few things and added some extra movement, which I think it has given MM a bit more character.

What do you think? The front is on it's way ;)

Ok I want some criticism and an answer to a question please.

Basic setting and idea for my game
Set in a small town full of people with superpowers. Basically I am sick of all the superhero films and tv shows that the fact they always get "useful" powers, such as super strength, flight etc. So all my characters will have special and "useless" powers. The main plot would be around these powers and how they can affect others.

Question
What do you think of having characters in the rayman style, ie no arms, legs or neck. I thought it would be an interesting way to show off my character's abilities, but I find it a nightmare to get it look right. Basically I would like a response to, "Should I continue with this style or not?"

Character for Crit
This character will be the playable character. He is called Mime Man and his power is to create invisible walls that disappear(ignore the pun) over time.

And these are the walkcycles that are driving me crazy:

I started with the side view then tried to line up the side view with the front view(foot position etc), but It hasn't worked or I have put the frames in the wrong order somehow ???. Ie help! Also I know the speed on the front view is faster than the side, I just noticed that when I uploaded them, but I'll fix that in the next edit.
I tried to keep the style as clean as possible, so any paint overs please keep that in mind.

In conclusion, Should I stay with this style? What have I done wrong with my walkcyle? and Do you like the idea of this kind of game?

Any crit is welcome  ;D

I would up the contrast between the colours, e.g. on the face and shoes. And I'm not much of a fan of the guy's t-shirt design, I feel its just a bit too fancy for such a low res

9/10 for me. Great life, done loads of stuff(some I regret) and had fun. Although getting kicked in by 40 neds("chavs" for you English folk) was my lowest point, I still live, which is brilliant.  ;D

Happy 2008 everyone!

Small bug, I walked back into the 1st playable room and I'm now stuck in the bottom left corner behind the trees.  I'll just start again, but i thought I would at least report it.

EDIT: Just completed it :D Nice little game!
