Unless these responses are part of the gameplay I don't think it is a great idea. You can have a good game with one or two characters and a few objects and you can have a rubbish game with 1000s of characters and objects. Although saying that, some different responses can make things a little fresh. But you don't want the player to get bored and start playing the game of "let's count how many different responses can I get by looking at the floor" cause I know I would do that.

Anyhoo here is some suggestions:
Well what's new?
Pfft
What do you think?
Huh?
Just the usual
It looks fine

I am trying to run a script when the mouse is over a listbox GUI. So what I tried to do was this:
Code: ags

if (gActions.X<=mouse.x<=gActions.Width && gActions.Y<=mouse.y<=gActions.Height)
    {
      TC=0;
    }
 else
    {
      TC=1;
    }

Which doesn't work.
Why can't I treat GUI.width/GUI.height as an int? I am changing the size of the GUI as I am adding more things to the list box, but this code is in repeatedly_execute so that shouldn't matter. Or do I need to make a seperate gui_x, gui_y ints and keep track of the width and height myself? I know this would be possible and a little annoying to do, but I am a little confused why I can't use GUI.width/GUI.height in the same manner?

Unless I am making a very silly mistake with my script..

Nacho, I have nothing against your post, if anything after a quick google it made me laugh. The whole reason I made this thread was beacuse this sudden news had really made me think about life.

I'm not the kind of person that starts a thread about my life problems on an internet forum, or the kind of person which would just randomly ask the question, "What would you do if you had a week to live?" 'cause I was bored.

Actually it saddens me you got such a PM Nacho.

Edit:
I have came to the conclusion that with human nature if you are given limits, all you think about are these limits. If you are given a week to do something, it will take you that week. However if you are given two weeks to do the same task it will take you those two weeks. Now surely finishing all you ever wanted to accomplish in life in a week can't be that hard really.

There used to be the coding competitions, but I guess it died due to lack of entries. However I wouldn't mind seeing it back, cause I like to challange myself ;D However, I think there are only so many things you could script, and also only so many ways going about each theme. So I don't know if it is much of a competition. The time aspect I don't like, epecially 24hours cause that would difficult to run and unfair since we have AGSer from all over the world.

Well my grandad hasn't been well since november really, but within the last month he has really gotten worse. And today he/we got told it is only a matter of days, a week if we're lucky. So well what came to mind is what would you do if you only had a week left? I mean nothing mad like skydive or something, I mean realistically if you were stuck in hospital, or in the middle of nowhere with no water or food and there was no hope, what would you do?

Personally I would write my thoughts down. I dunno something my family could keep hold of, or something to represent my life. But what would you do? Would you end your life? Would you re-read a favourite book? Would you just sit or something?

I just can't bare to think that by next week a man's life will end. End of the book. Surely you would want finish giving all you can in life, before it ends.

The body movement is very juddery and also her neck seems to be solid. Also her furthest away leg increases in size when it is behind her.

The purple top clashes most violently with the red, though.
There must be a problem with my monitor or yours. It's clearly blue on mine and looks fine.
It is blueish violet. Maybe a cream colour might not make it contrast so much.

So a little less movement body wise, make her foot size consistent and possibly a little head movement and new top colour.
But apart from that I like it.

With the snow slowy turning to sludge, I was lucky to catch a glimpse of a snow mouse.

It reminds me of that twilight zone episode where the guy tries to read all the time and the nuclear bomb goes off.

Advanced Technical Forum / Error Message: GUI
Tue 10/02/2009 00:07:35
I was creating a custom GUI in a blank game template, which I have two inventory windows shown always visable. I tried to name one of the inventory windows, which I accidently named the same as a label which I got an error message saying I can't name it that. I clicked again to change the name and this error popped up.
Code: ags
Error: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

They should make it that each combination has multiple outcomes. Just to make it a little more interesting. Also it reminds me of this game which I used to play.

Didn't the sensor go off when you walked out the door? Or did you put the shirt in your shoe? If what IndieBoy said about the height was correct?
Depends on the size of the bag and where the tag is. It is possible, believe me. I've done tests at my work. But of course not all sensors are the same but the ones I have at work are pretty much the bog standard ones your see everywhere.
