@Zargblast - thanks for the bug report, I can't believe how many times I spelt that wrong! Glad you enjoyed the game otherwise.

@Leon - I can't find that "Loook", let me know if you remember where it was. Also Restart seems to work fine for me at the end but I will have another look...

Also a walkthrough of my game on Ultimate Game Solutions? Now I know i've made it!  ;D := 8). Thanks very much Leon.

@Leon - Thanks for the comments and glad you enjoyed it! I'll deal with those bugs completely intentional easter eggs(!) in an updated version. ;D

@Stee - You have the correct password and as mentioned it is not case sensitive. It sounds like the file may have been corrupted when you downloaded it. I would try to download/install again.

another thing : does the story comes from true events ? ( not the intro, but the internet at work part )

:p

Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

It's not really based on true events although Colin's office is the exact office I had in my last job (I attempted to draw it as I was sitting in it at my desk - the rest of the office is nothing like my old one though) and we did have our internet access taken away at one point...

Sorry about that! Hope you enjoy playing it anyway...

OK, uploaded to a mirror as above which will hopefully work better.

Sorry about that, posted the thread by mistake before I had finished the post!

Colin Simpson Leaves Employment

After what may well have been the worst weekend of his life the final insult comes when Colin Simpson has to go back to work on Monday morning! But can he continue to put up with a job he hates for a horrible boss?

EXPERIENCE the thrills, boredom and petty mindedness of working in a real office!

ENJOY the company of other employees, most of whom you would never talk to outside of work!

This is a short game and is my first released game so please do not expect too much or be too harsh!

Big thanks to my Beta Testers Big Ron and [ Arjon ] - cheers guys.

Hope you enjoy it....

Cheers Arjon

Spoiler
The funny thing is that I had already spoken to the Dwarf guy to ask him to help but hadn't thought of just picking him up and taking him!

Thank you for the help, [ Arjon ] and hystericbliss0!
What was getting in my way was...
Spoiler
...giving the librarian the newspaper (must have missed the clue to that, since it made no sense to me)

After that, I managed to catch up with you guys, plus answer one of the questions listed above:
Spoiler
Cigar is now inside the mouse hole, right? "Look" at it and you'll get information about it's size. *hint* *hint*
[close]
If you still didn't get it:
Spoiler
50cm is quite tall for a mouse hole. Not tall enough for you to fit inside, though.

OK, I am sure it is just me being thick but I didn't find those hints even vaguely helpful! Any chance of a bit more specific info?

I'm stuck again in Part Two

Spoiler
I used the dynamite in the safe and the cigar flew into the mouse hole. What do I need to use to get it out of there? I've tried everything in my inventory
[close]

Nevermind, figured it out

So what was the answer?

I'm stuck near the end of the game (I think!)

Have blown the safe and the cigar has gone into the mousehole, however I can't find any way to get it out again.

Any help gratefully received!

I think it's the left arm.

Left hand stays out in front of the body the whole time even though the left elbow comes right back. I think the whole arm just needs to come back a bit to bring it in line with what the right arm is doing.

Like it a lot, neat use of perspective!

Only questionable thing I can see is the rocking chair, the back seems to be at the wrong angle compared to the seat/base.

Apparently this phenomenon is known as "intrusive R," and has been around for a long time. But it seems to have been getting much more frequent in recent years. (I don't remember hearing it when I lived in the UK, though quite possibly I just wasn't sensitive to it.)

That's interesting, i'd never heard of intrusive R's before, I always thought it was just the difference between "long A" and "short A" sounds.

I hear lots of americans saying "Ba - rarck" "oh - bam - a" which sounds weird too!

Great game, I love it!

Easy to use and looks good too. I must say that pretty much everyting you could want from a darts game is there and it worked floorlessly for me.

Great job!

Hi all.

Beta testers wanted for my first attempt at a game to be released! It's quite short and probably won't take you too long.

PM if interested.

When people judge old Sierra games on this basis, I don't think they take into account the time aspect.
When it comes to gaming, people had much more patience and perseverance back in the eighties as they were usually stuck with very few games, and computer and video games over all was something new.

Spot on.

I'm sure many of us remember the days of playing adventure games when there were no internet walkthroughs available. I remember a couple of games took me literally over a year to complete beacuse when you were stuck, you were stuck and unless one of your friends had the game you just had to keep trying or give up and come back to it. It was just an accepted part of gaming.

However nowadays we have completely different standards and I do think you have to take into account today's mentality when making games.

I have about 4 or 5 games in varying states from half way in to nearly complete. However, and in all honesty, they are mostly rubbish and that is why work on them ground to a halt! They were really just tools to help me learn how to make games with AGS (and learn to draw!) and so were very useful and even necessary (for me) for that reason.

On the whole I think that, in the majority of cases, first and second games should never be released as the ones that are tend to be a little... well I'd be embarassed to release mine put it that way!

Having said that you get better with every attempt and I may even have something vaguely releasable in the not too distant future!

I know where you're coming from with this one, it seems silly to let the player pick up whatever he wants for no logical reason. However, in the same way you want to avoid situations like in The Black Mirror and Rhiannon where you are constantly having to backtrack for miles to get something that you have already tried to pick up and knew would be useful!

If it is just one or two puzzles like this then I say wait until the player discovers the puzzle before allowing him to pick up the object, unless it involves backtracking through too many rooms to get there. However if it is lots or all puzzles then this can get seriously annoying.

For me:

1. Gabriel Knight 1 - the game that is so good even 8 different mouse icons to scroll through doesn't ruin it!

2. Broken Sword 1 - Amazing story/music/art

3. Kings Quest VI - the game that made me fall in love with adventure games
