I went through reams of paper when I was doing ink, and while later on I did ink over pencil then erase the graphite, there's a certain finality to direct ink. (and the lines looked better too)

The voting is over, Hanna takes the cake!
Both sprites are awesome, and while Hanna did make something really useable in a game, Creamy is continuing strong with the same technique from the last time. Speaking as an artist myself, that sprite is what I call a one-shot, i.e. you gotta get it right on the first try as the texhnique doesn't give any leeway for mistakes, like drawing in ink or ballpoint pen. It's a perfectionist tool and I salute the effort.

Competitions & Activities / Sprite Jam "Pink"
Thu 01/09/2022 21:41:11
Welcome to the Sprite Jam!

This time you should draw a character for a game that is based around the color pink! Pink is an awesome color! All shades of pink and magenta are welcome! Does you character have a pink outfit? Pink shadow? Pink fingernails? Pink eyes? Pink forcefield? Maybe it has a pink pet? Possibilities are endless and as long as there is some pink in the sprite it's perfect!

The sprite jam will last until the 1st October, followed by a week of voting.

There might be trophies!

Congrats Creamy!
Lemme think of a theme and I'll host the next one.

Nice one Creamy, even with the unprecise medium there's so much tiny details everywhere. This kinda stuff requires patience and a steady hand.

Thank you all for participating, Hannah_Banana takes the win this time. The second and third place is a tie, so I guess you'll have to have a watergun fight to the death to determine who gets the silver and who gets the bronze trophy.

Congrats Hannah, take it away!

Due to the last sprite jam dissapearing in the mists of inactivity, papershippy came to IRC and asked me to host another one. Since I have no moral authority to do so, and haven't posted in years on the forums this gives me all the reasons I need to come barge in and post a new one. Shoot first, don't bother asking questions later! Asking for fogiveness is easier than asking for permission or however that saying goes!

To keep with the tone of this weird request by papershippy, the sprite jam is about the show that must go on, so without further ado, the topic for this sprite jam is to draw a performer in a circus act, be it an animal, robot, human or an alien that managed to find itself employed at the circus.

All entries must be submitted by 15th of July, and the voting will be open for 1 week.

Trophies await:

Happy birthday AGS, I've been around for 13 years, it's still such a nice community. <3

Come join club galen then, it's a splinter irc from ags irc and the connect is irc.clubgalen.com (the chan is called #clubgalen)
The original ags irc fell off in activity after the split anyway, this is a good way to join people back up.

I adjusted your pose slightly and edited the hands and face. I recommend not drawing on a pink background but a medium gray one as it will help you pick your colors better.
I included a palette for you to work with in the upper right corner, arranged by brightness. Try to not go overboard with the number of colors, usually 3 is enough for one material (shade, base and highlight). This will help you out later when you need to animate or edit graphics. Keep drawing you can only get better with practice!  :)

Looks pretty nice, the only thing of note is the belt that's kinda leaning (maybe intentional) and the uneven pant leggings. If you really want to go all out you could maybe work on line thickness, it's kidna messy in spots but that's pretty high level and a lot of effort for small gain.

EDIT: also eyes are not level by ONE PIXEL!!!

If this is your first game, go for the smallest size - B.
I like how mercader C looks.
