General Discussion / Re: Organ Donation

Kris, my post was rather sarcastic, don't you go punce on it, please. =D

Anyway, donating organs is a matter of personall opinion, and why would the state make the opinion for us? (the opt-out system). It's my organs I can do with them whatever I want, now.  And the state should leve me be when I die, if I don't tell them otherwise.

Well, if I get this right (prolly don't) Calin, you say we should save all people including rapists, right?

Sure why not allow rape to go un punished, as it leads to more children (life is something of value, isn't it?), and potentially MORE organs! Yay!

We need more votes, please.

Skimming through some topics on organ donation and what the church says about it (yes, I'm pretty religious, no, I don't want to start another religion thread) I can sumarise it like this:

The pope says that organ donation is good if there is no harm to the donor's life (if you are alive and donating eg. donating a lung, a kidney etc.), and you can, as a donor, survive the donation (eg. you have two lungs, kidneys etc.).

There is a dispute about donating vital organs, one can't live without (eg. heart).
According to the pope, you can donate vital organs if you are dead. The problem is that the church and the medical science have different meanings for the label "dead"

As I understand, medical science considers a man/woman dead if he is brain-dead (whatever that means), while the church considers death when the soul leaves the body. As you all know, no one yet has been able to measure that exact moment.

Anyway, for heart transplantation, the heart has about 3-4 minutes (more or less) to be transplanted before it's not useable anymore (that is, it probably won't start again). The question arises in my mind, could you be brought back to life if those minutes were spent on reviving you, than transplanting your heart?

Well, I'll still stick to my stated position, although I didn't know it was contrary to the churches view, until I give it much more thought. Surely, this isn't something one should rush into.

I wouldn't donate any of my body parts, and I'm strongly against the opt-out system. I also wouldn't accept a transplant.

And it's over! \o/

1st place      Mr Adrian! It's just funny. XD Check out the face expression!
2nd place     KrisMacDee! Simple and effective.
3rd place      Darius Poyer! and the worm that ate the trophy.

Thank you all for participating, every entry was good, unfortunately I only had 3 trophies this time.

You don't want me to draw a fetus on a stick.

Mr Flibble: nope, you swing the cane to support your bad leg, then you move it (the bad leg), or it wouldn't be of much use the other way.
#431
Aye, it's good, but his hands swing with his legs. Switch that and you'll be OK.
eg. Left hand goes forward when the left leg goes back, not the other way around.

Ahem, does the character that lives there sit on the floor while using the computer?

Very nice background, I'd just add a chair ;)

just an outline for the feet, yours kinda look like boots. =D

You're definitly improving, considering your first character.
Only thing poking me in the eye is that these characters have a bit smallish heads, considering their shoulder width, along with a narrow neck. Or is it just me?

Btw, the haircuts are spot on =)

Sure, I have one packed up that Matt gave to me. He said he diped it in cyanidesomething. =)

As for voting....
Best feeling/idea : Dataflashsabot - 'cause I really know that feeling well.
Technique : Tier (Matt). Although I could say Jakerpot or nihilyst, and feel no different =)
Usefullness: Amidst all these hardly useable BeeGees I'll pick FSi, and you can all say I'm biased.

Heck, the most important thing is that we had plenty of entries, so everybody could practice their backgrounding skills.

I predict a struggle between Tier and nihilyst for the first place, but I could be wrong on that account.

Just a quick edit really.

I fixed some really minor perspective issues.
The fence texture looks like it was made in a rush.
The tree grew some more.
Windows reflect the sky somewhat.
Some small texturing on the grass.
Windows and door are now a bit more "in the house", because they looked kinda painted on the walls.
Added a horizontal decoration on the house.
Extended the roofs a bit. Real roofs don't end where the walls end, but go outwards somewhat more.

It's all very minor editing really. Maybe you can add a light texture on the house wall.

Vote by categories, or no cookie =P

So to make it clear for future voters, you need to cast three votes, please.
#437
Yes, you guessed it, voting starts now!

EDIT: Added one more trophy (a paper one), so no one goes home empty-handed

This is the probably most used variant here:

Maybe you can use it for reference. The leaves on the Bells suite ar not red, though.

Tweaked shading, neck and leg lenght

Excuse my crude attempt =) I stand corrected.

It's essentially all about raytracing. I do my shadows by heart, but I see I can improve on that particular area quite a bit now.

Thank you for the critique...errr, wasn't this Tiers thread...? =)
