Touche! =P

Must've forgoten to add it.

Patience, and a sturdy mouse can make almost anything look pretty decent.

You could draw with the pencil/brush tool 'off-hand', black and white (I use red) and then take the line tools and paint over the sketch, straightening the shapes. After that you delete the sketch underneath (RMB while using the eraser replaces the left colour with the right colour). So by doing the sketch in only one colour, you can delete it easily after you make the drawing more complete.

No ears?
anyway...Your feet mismatched a bit, and he was leaning a bit to the back.

If you use only lines (curved and straight ones) in MsPaint, you can get nice flood-fillable areas easily, like I just did. This one was drawn using the thickest lines possible

Drawing is a lot about patience, don't rush on it.

Make a lot of copies of your character so if you make a mistake, you can start over (MsPaint has only three undos).

Avoid using the pencil and brush tools with the mouse.

Might as well post here....
Jim Reed is a name a just came up this summer. Nothing fancy, but it kinda sounds cool.

If you want to make the mosque look big, you should shrink the size of the palm tree a bit. I havent seen a palm yet that was as big as building.

I watched it the other day. It had plot holes so large you could sink a cow in them. Aye, nice CGI, but graphics are not enough to keep the movie afloat.
As for the oscars... They're rigged.

Jakerpot, you fool, it's all about having as much perspective circles as you can!

I didn't know of any men that have beard growing all around their head, Scarab. Well, I never visited England either =P

Nice work!

Pixel artists: You can only use 6 colours (not counting black, white or the background alpha-colour), this also includes shading colours.

Why, thank you, I'll add some colours tomorrow, considering the leeway you just anounced.

It's a common occurence.
It sounds to me that you were a good hunter until you became the hunted.
You're relying on skills that caught game when you started. Don't lul youreslf, seek more challenge, handicap yourself, so you can grow stronger, because if you don't have strong competiotion you won't learn much. You're caught in rigid thinking.

Voting is over.

If I counted the votes correctly:

Tier: 9 votes (7 technique, 2 usefullnes)
abstauber: 5 votes (1 technique, 4 usefullnes)
nihilyst: 4 votes (4 idea)
FSi: 3 votes (1 in each category)
Al_Ninio: 2 votes (2 idea)
Dataflashsabot and I_stole_your_car had one vote each (idea).
NsMn and Jakerpot had one vote each also (usefullness)

Unfortunately, Jide and Odysseus didn't get any votes this time. Lucky for them we have loads of trophies!

I'm proud to award the gold trophy to Tier!
The silver one goes to abstauber.
The bronze trophy falls into the hands of nihilyst.
Odysseus gets the ice trophy.
Jakerpot (as he so likes it) can have the fire one.
Dataflashsabot grabs the glass trophy.
FSi steals the famous wooden trophy.
NsMn, our best guy around, gets the straw trophy.
Al_Ninio wins the EGA one.
I_stole_your_car holds the shadow trophy.
And last, but surely not the least...
Jide goes home with his brand new paper trophy!

Congratulations Matt!
You know what to do.

Thank you all for particpating and voting, I hope you don't slack off on the next competition. =P

I'm too lazy to hunt them all down, but you can look up sprites from these games for reference:

True Lies (SG, SNES)
Chaos Engine 1 & 2 (Snes, SG)
Story of Thor/Beyond Oasis (SG)
Shadowrun (SG)
Techno Clash (SG)

SG - Sega Genesis
SNES - Super Nintendo Entertaiment System

They have non-anime sprites (except for Beyond Oasis), and just the right perspective.
I hope it helps.

You can resize pictures by using codes eg.

without the "***", assuming your picture is 30(pixels high)x60(pixels wide), and you want it to resize to 3x

Anyway, here's my edit, maybe it will help.
