I know we have some talented people out there, so if this is possible, I know someone here will come up with the module solution for me.

I have been designing a 3D (to 2D converted of course for AGS) of DC Comics Justice League. And of course, one of the playable characters in the game will be Superman/Clark Kent. As we all know, Superman has many powers, among which one of them is X-Ray vision.

Basically I wanted a feature where in the room, there would be invisible images at certain coordinates. Then a small circle, similar to the one the flashlight circle uses, would come up and when it hovers over a certain area, parts of that image come up as if Superman is seeing through a wall or something. This would of course need to be extended to Characters and objects as well.

Perhaps there is a module out there already that does this or is atleast capable of it. Either way, I need help with this request. Thanks for looking.

Ok, I know this is a bit of a cheap shot of a deal for what I am doing. But with a baby on the way, my wife and I needed some last minute cash for some things (Mainly some prescriptions and such), so we put some Microsoft products for sale on Ebay. If you know anyone who needs them, please direct them there:
http://shop.ebay.com/jdiperla/m.html?_trksid=p4340.l2562

Sorry again for the shameless posting. Thanks for looking and sorry that the product is microsucks and not something better. :P

I am finally dipping into making a game this year and I figured the best way for me to do so would be to use a background that is already established and art resources already available to me since I am not an artist of any sort.

The Game I am intending on making is A-RON, which stands for Alternate Reality on the Norm. The game takes place in the RON town and surrounding area with a new twist to it. I would like to add a location outside of RON which takes the player to a cave. The cave is called "La grotte de rebondissements mystique" (Or The Cave of mystical twists). In it, the player travels to it to find that the Cave has powers that can transport him or her to an Alternate Reality on the Norm, where it is Reality, but not. Many alternate realities exist, with different twists. The trick is to get to the Reality you belong to once you have been transported away.

The idea came to me when watching a DC cartoon where in the comics they establish alternate timelines and stories based on alternate earths. It leaves the original story in tact, but allows people to explore new "What-IF" scenario's that stray away from the original. I thought this could work for RON as well.

Does anyone object to this idea? Has this been done already? Is someone else already working on a game like this?

I didn't want to post this in game seek as this is not really specifically a game or AGS related. Hopefully its ok as its own post.

Years ago there was an adventure game engine called Maker R2. I have searched high and low for it and cant seem to find it. I know it was created by masterton software (masterton.de) and programmed by Titus Miloli I believe. It even included a cool demo game of Indiana Jones and the Heritage of time. I tried locating this through archive.org and emailing titus. But no luck.

Has anyone gotten a copy of this engine or know of a better way to find it? I am trying to archive it on my website. I had found Maker R1 already. But nothing for Maker R2. Any help?

As the title says. In fact, there are a few tv series I would love to see turned into an adventure game such as Smallville, Burn Notice, NCIS, 24, etc... They all seem to be very good idea's for adventure games... Well... Smallville might be better as a 3d run and jump game, but the others are still pretty valid.

Its always surprised me that developers, both commercial/professional and amatuers have not released any adventure games based on these shows. Well, correction, there is a first person sorta adventure game for NCIS on the android phone. But otherwise, these other shows have no games developed for them. I think the reason that this is is because they are better adventure games than the standard popular platform or shootem up genre's that most people play today.

But after watching about 30 episodes of Psych this week (I love my ps3 and netflix!) I thought that there couldn't be a better fit for an adventure game (Except for those mentioned above)!

How would I approach it if it were me? Well, I would have to say this might be best Sierra style as far as game play goes. For the most part anyway. I would have a simple GUI that uses buttons rather than verbs and I would have it work much like the later Space quest and police quest games. They would have something like look, talk, listen, interact, touch and smell. Perhaps the icons would be animated, just for modern day sake.

What about conversations? As much as I do not really appreciate adult humor (Atleast not to the level that Liesure Suit Larry to it to), I did like LSL7's conversation window and also Mean Streets way of conversing with a text parser as well as the mood window in the NCIS android game. So how would I work this personally? I would have a choice window for conversations, you know, the usual choose your conversation dialog such as in Indiana Jones and the last crusade. The dialog would ask about events and such and even offer some remarks that the character would make. But I would also add an "ask about" option where you would be able to type in a name of an individual and depending at what point you are at in the game, you can gain information about that particular person. The one thing I would add to this is that rather than just simply ask the question, you have 3 ways in which you can ask it. One is nicely, the other is nuetral and finally, hostile. I would also allow the usage of showing objects to a character as a way to gain information or make trades.

How would the conversations take place? I had two ways of thinking this through. There can be a 1st person mode, such as was in LSL7, but with a small little feature. Being that Shawn can nitpick every little thing, one thing that would be useful is that Shawn can move the cursor around the screen of the person he is talking to and examine clues in the background. For any other character that is being controlled, the conversations take place completely in 3rd person, ala LEC games.

As far as character control goes, I would say that there are four characters that are needed to control. One would be Shawn, and the other would be Gus. But if I were making this game, I would modify this to work a little differently than most typical adventure games. First off, Gus will follow Shawn no matter where Shawn goes, unless Shawn tells Gus to stay put, or the user takes control of Gus and moves him somewhere else. I would also put a little feature in there that when Gus is starting to get pissed, he would make some excuse to leave and Shawn needs to find a way to get him to stay, whether by pulling some prank or by convincing him with his words.

The other two character to control would be Juliet O'Hara and Henry Spencer as they seem to be the other two best characters well suited to assist Shawn and Gus. The other characters would just not seem to be so helpful, such as Lassiter or the Chief Vick.

To keep the game as real as possible to the tv show, I Would of course be sure to keep the main characters and locations and trademarks from the show in the game. Infact, besides the ones mentioned above, Buzz Mcnab, Carlton Lassiter, Chief Karen Vick, and Woody the Coroner. The locations that would certainly need to be kept in the game would be that of Shawns house, The Psych office, Gus's work place, Henry Spencer's home and the police station. Gus' car should certainly be used as well as Carlton's should make an appearance. And like most Psych episodes, I would most definetly begin the game with a flashback cutscene to Shawn being taught some valuable life lesson from his dad in which what he learned there would somehow help him in the game to solve the case in the end.

Gameplay would be no different than any other adventure game. I would definetly make it 3rd person. The graphics I would go with would be similar to The special editions of Monkey Island. I would have the inventory windows reflect which character you are controlling. The one thing that would be different from other games is that when Shawn, and when only Shawn, finds a clue that it would glow momentarily as it does in the show. Pointless, yes, but it keeps it true to the show. And the characters personalities would most certainly have to reflect the tv shows characters such as Gus' uptightness, Jules Genuineness(Is that a word?), Shawns crazy psych vision mannerisms, Henry's usual put down of Shawn and Carlton's dislike of Shawn and Gus as well as Woody's wackyness.

The last feature I would add in this game, that would not be in most adventure games, is clue collecting. Every Clue that Shawn and the controllable characters collect would be stored in a clue database which you can go back to and research as a reference.

All in all, I think this would make a great and fun game. Unfortunately, I do not have enough graphical talent to make the game. So, if you got excited at this idea, sorry. But it wont be a reality.

What other TV shows would make a great adventure game and how would you have it played? I am curious to know what everyone thinks of that. Of course, you can also post criticism of my Psych game idea if you would like. Either, or are welcome.

I am just curious. Seems awefully powerful and highly portable. I'd like to get some opinions on it. Is anyone familiar to how the grammar files work on that thing?

General Discussion / My Palm Pre
Fri 09/04/2010 15:45:43
Not too long ago I received a Palm Pre Plus from Verizon. This is my favorite phone. I never experienced anything like this before. If you want more details on the Palm Pre Plus, got precentral.net .

But I love my phone so much, that I wanted to post a review of it here. Hope noone minds...

I have to say that I have used/owned several smartphones before including the Old PalmOS, Windows Mobile 2002/2003/5/6/6.1/6.5, Android, iPhone and Blackberry. And the palm pre is by far the most professional, funnest, most useful, most in-sync phone I have ever used!!!!!!!!!

Palm has really done it. Their WebOS is amazing. I never ever experienced Multi-tasking as perfect as it is on this phone. Its really easy to use, even for beginners, and really fast and the idea behind it is just really simple. There is absolutely no flaw behind this system.

The card system itself which allows the multi-tasking is really a cool feature. Atleast now I can pause my work wherever I am so that I can continue doing whatever else needs to be done. This innovation to me is comparable to when "Live DVR" was invented. Its truly that innovative.

As far as apps go, there are nearly 3000 native apps available for it and more coming fast! Its not as many as the iPhone catalog, but you know what, atleast it doesn't have 345 different apps that do the same thing (EG: The lightsaber app on the iPhone. There are so many, but they all do the same stinking thing). Not to mention you can buy motionApps Classic and run all the old PalmOS Software, making the library really compete with the iPhone. And even though there arent as many "new" apps as the iPhone, there are tons of patches, updates and software and games that do EVERYTHING you need good enough. In fact, fewer apps even save you money in the long run.

The Live syncing is amazing. All you do is put in your email address and/or facebook login and it does it all for you... It syncs all your calendars automatically. It syncs all your contacts automatically. And it syncs your inbox automatically. I have never experienced anything as effortless as this. It literally put all my information there for me. Putting this with the multi-tasking system makes doing business and mixing in pleasure a snap. The closest phone that matches this, I will say, is the iPhone. But the Pre is far superior in this aspect than the iPhone.

The Launcher is cool too. You have the launch bar which can be dragged from top to bottom. Then the launcher itself which pretty much mimics the iPhones main launcher screen with several enhanced features which make it better.

I like the music player and the support for ITunes, which most players do not have. So this is one of the few smartphone systems that can sync with ITunes on your pc and play your music. The original player was great. But I downloaded the free remix edition and it turned my Pre into the ultimate mp3 player ever!

As far as hardware goes... I know many knock it. But, really, for a handheld, how much power do you need? 600mhz is not enough? You can even overclock it to 800mhz. It doesn't matter. The games play the same as they do on the iPhone (Trust me, I have played them on both), the smoothness of the interface is perfect. Really, what more do you want? Why pay more for better hardware that is really not needed on a handheld device? You want gaming power, buy a PSP or a DS. And still, it can probably play games just as well and poweful regardless.

The Keyboard looks awkward at first, but is really nice and comfortable to use. And its a nice feature to have with a phone for messaging and e-mail and other things..

It has 16gb of on device memory. What no 32GB???? Really, do you need that much anyway other than for music? I have about 25 hours of music on it. It only took up a little over a gig. For the rest of my music fixes, I use Pandora and radiotime- which more than cover up for the lack of an FM Player. In fact RadioTime plays over 50,000 stations in the US for free. I had every station I listen to on their. And as far as needing extra storage, the Pre is the first to offer Cloud Storage, meaning you can use ZumoDrive online to act as additional storage for the pre making it work as if it is actually part of the PRE. Its Awesome! I can virtually have unlimited space on the go with this thing. Not to mention that it also has a feature that backs up your whole phone onto Palm every day without ever interfering with your work. Why is this good? Because if you have to replace your phone, all you do on your next phone is login with your palm account and it restores ALL information and APPS so you dont lose a thing.

The G-Sensor/Accelerometer works great. I used it with Need for Speed undercover and its perfect.

The Camera works well and takes nice pictures.

The screen quality... To me in actual display, graphics capabilities and color/brightness... ITS THE ABSOLUTE BEST. It has a 24bit graphics processor. Really, you cant go wrong with that. As far as touch sensitivity... OK. The iPhone is the best hands down. But, its good enough and is about 90% as good as the iPhone. Believe me, you would barely even notice the difference. And if you never had an iPhone before, you wouldn't know the difference. PERIOD.

The design is really slick. I love it. Its not heavy. Its not bulky. The screen size is great. It could be a bit bigger, but its big enough. I never accidentally dial numbers with this thing. Its a pure genius design.

People also complain about its sturdiness... I think its pretty sturdy. Otherwise buy an attractive case on ebay for $5 and thats it. But its definetly better than the Nexus one which will crack if you keep it in your pocket. Whats up with that?

Other nice features of the pre:
*Documents to go to view Excel, Word and PDF files.
*Supports Facebook, Google, Exchange, IMAP and POP as well as AIM and other things.
*For Developers it supports HTML5/CSS/Javascript or c/C++ with SDL and basically allows you to recompile any library thats available for linux so that you can port apps over easily. And you can actually use all these languages together!
*Instant over the air updates of your apps
*Great sound quality for phone calls.
*3G phone. What would you really need 4G for? It streams music and video in HD really well already.
*Palm really cares for its customers more than other companies. That puts this over the edge for that reason alone!

The only downside to this is that battery. It consumes a lot of battery power. But just buy an extended battery, and it will last longer than any other phones battery, gaurantee'd!

Try the Pre, you will not regret it. In fact you wont even go to another phone after this!!!!

First off, I love my Palm Pre. Of all the phones I have ever owned (Android, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Symbian OS) it is absolutely the best smartphone. I have never been amazed at its ingenuity, its simplicity and the power it has as an OS. Having said that...

The Palm Pre is a linux based phone. And it actually allows developers to develop in c/C++, Javascript, html5 and css to develop apps. It already has precompiled libraries as support for programming such as OpenGL and SDL. And of course any other cross-platform library can be compiled for it to work. Basically, what one of the sdk/pdk developers for Palm told me was that if a library works on Linux, it will work on the Pre.

Anyway, the point of this post is that they have an app that runs actual linux apps. What does this mean? It means that AGS for Linux should soon be working on the Palm Pre. Yay!

    * Fixed property editor odd behaviour when quickly changing rooms and when dealing with actors
    * Made simple categories to Property editor for easy to find attributes
    * Some bugfixes of extremely rare situations of changing rooms
    * Game.LoadTextFile(filename : string)
    * Game.ForgetTextFile(filename : string)
    * Game.ReadLine(filename : string, line: integer)
    * TLight Editor Tool
    * Game.FogEnabled = boolean
    * Game.FogStart = single
    * Game.FogEnd = single
    * Game.SetFogRGB(red,green,blue);
    * Enhanced crossplatform support
    * BunkerDemo filenames updated to support Unix
    * THudSprite.TextureRepeatX, THudSprite.TextureRepeatY
    * TActor Walking tweaked
    * TActor.TurningSpeed added
    * Transform tool was giving wrong rotations

    * Published linux version
    * Fixed TAnimation destruction bug AV
    * New command line parameter -logtoconsole, which outputs the log to console addition to file

And all this was done over a period of two and a half months with about 4 releases. I am telling you that this guy is the Chris Jones of 3D. Anyway, check it out. Its definetly worth a mention.

Well, we are near the conclusion of this fantastic show. If anyone watches the show, throw out some speculation as to who you think did it and how its going to end? My theories:

As far as who killed Trudy:
*TK (Captains new wife) had some association with an earth now organization type thing. I dont think she killed Trudy, but somehow I think it will be thought that she did it because of her association.
*Trudy was going to expose this organization.
*This organization was behind her death, and I am sure it will be particularly someone. Just dont know who.

Ambrose(Monks brother):
*Will start getting clues as to Trudy's murder, but before he figures it all out, he will be poisened. (Based on a spoiler).
*Not positive on whether he dies or not, but I am assuming he wont because it just wouldn't be pleasant for ending a tv series like that.

Randy:
*I feel will move to New Jersey after getting serious with Sharona.
*Will turn down a promotion to move to Jersey.

Captain:
*Will stay married to TK.
*Will retire from the police force, possibly working as a consultant for them the way Monk does.

Natalie:
*Will attempt a relationship with LT Albright.
*Will discover the truth regarding her husband's death, in which case, I dont believe he really dies.
*Will fail at a relationship with LT Albright for the fact the she will find out he lied about her husband to her.

Monk:
*Will Solve the case of Trudy's murder and why she was murdered.
*Will start being a little less obsessive compulsive.
*Will meet a niece and an aunt, based on a spoiler. I am assuming this could be Ambrose's illegitimate daughter.

Monk and Natalie:
*Either Monk will be content with himself and...
*Natalie will go back to her Husband, realizing he is still alive.. Or, what I am hoping for:
*Monk and Natalie are left together. They may official tell eachother how they feel, or they may leave the show to end with strong hints towards that being the case for the future.

What theories do you have?

We had an unfortunate event occur to us. My poor bunny, Mr Bigglesworth(Biggles for short. We also gave him a middle name: Lilo) died on tuesday night/wednesday morning..

We still dont have a cause as to why he died. We are assuming he had a GI Tract infection. He was gonna be two years old in february. My wife and I are totally devestated as he was our first pet we ever had as a married couple. He was only 8 weeks old when we got him.

He was always sweet and affectionate. Very fun to play with(I would get my exercise by chasing him around the living room and then having him chase me). He Always gave me a lick on my nose every night before going to bed as well as rubbing my hand with his chin which was his way of telling us: "I own you. You are my people." Bunnies dont lick people that often, but when they do, its a sign of affection and so is rubbing you with their chin. And he had such a cute and funny personality. You wouldn't think so when you think of rabbits. But not true. Along with birds, Rabbits make the best pets in my opinion.

He was so good we always referred to him as the Gentlemen, or Beauty because he was so respectful towards the other pets. And he just loved licking the guinea pig. We never watch tv, we would just sit and watch them because they had a funny interaction to them. We also referred to him as Monk (After the tv show character) because he always had to adjust things a certain way in his cage. If we moved something, he would move it back. And he loved thumping, especially when it was night time. If we were up ever past midnight, he would thump to tell us to be quiet and goto sleep. If he was hungry, he would toss his bowl at the door to let us know. He was so smart and funny.

When I got home on tuesday from work, I saw him huddled behind the guinea pigs igloo (Yes, against all advice, I housed them together in the same cage). Normally he huddles down there when he is about to play with the pig and he just sits there in that position for a while.

I took Gilda to work, got home a couple of hours later and I found the poor guy still huddled in a corner, I went to see how he was doing. But when I moved him, he just collapsed on his side. He was still alive, but he was panting and breathing with a lot of effort. I tried to lift him up to hold him, but everytime I did he just kept coughing and making a crying noise. I called some vets, but all the rabbit vets went home for the day at the emergency centers. Finally I gave up because I could tell he wasn't going to make it, so I just sat there by his cage, rubbed his little back and tummy and forehead. I just spoke to him in a low voice just so he knew I was there and know that he didn't have to die alone. Finally he took two last breaths and then died.

It was a very sad night for my wife Gilda and I. In fact Gilda was so (Because she was also at work- She's a nurse in the ER) upset that a bunch of the nurses put some money together and bought her another bunny that we have to pick out when we are ready. I kind of wish they didn't do that because I really want to stop buying anymore pets because it is just too painful for when they die.

Anyway, It helps us feel better telling others about him. Helps keep him alive in our memories. Here are a few pictures of the little guy. We miss him so much.

Biggles at 9 weeks old. Look at that face and big feet:

Biggles cuddling:

Biggles with the Guinea Pig:

So now we are down to one rabbit, 5 budgie parakeets, 1 guinea pig and a fist. Our family is not the same. This year we lost a budgie (Frankie) Two beta fish (Fish I and Fishy II) and now Biggles. So sad....

Please check out this site right here: http://www.adventurestockpile.com

I started a thread a while back on this here:
http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=37647.0

But I wanted to start a new thread being that the old one would cause confusion with this request.

I updated the design. Next week it will be a new design. And I will keep doing this every week. Since this is a site for you guys, test out the various themes over the next few weeks. See which you like.

Also remember, not everything will be 100% running and functional. I am still working on the function of the site. You may need to register to get the full effect of the site. Let me know what you think of this design. Thanks guys.

Currently I am in a kick of wanting to create adventure games and it seems that this drive is a more permanent one than usual. So I try my hand at creating some graphics and creating a game and such. You know what? Just creating the simplest graphics or trying to follow the tutorials I have found are just so difficult. I cant seem to create a basic room right, EVEN after following a tutorial!

Yet, I see soooo many GREAT games out here and that have been released over the years such as Rob Blanc, Garfield, A tale of two Kingdoms, Shaila of the Sith, Fatman, The apprentice Games, JP Cosmo games, Charlie Foxtrot, The Cosmo Quest Trilogy, Larry Vales, Life of Donald Duck, Zak 2, Maniac Mansion Deluxe, Mind's Eye, Pleurghburg, All the VGA remakes and much much more that are just too many to name. And when I see all these games I think "WOW! These guys are great!"

Then I think of some of the older members and new members we have such as Mods, Erica Mclane, Roy Lazarovich, Helm, Phil Reed, Mr. Colosal, ProgZMax, SubSpark and many many others and how they worked hard to support the community in general.

Or even our porters such as Elektroshokker who is doing a find job or ETG and Steve McRea. We really owe a lot of thanks for the hard work they put forth.

Not too mention Chris Jones for creating AGS and sparking more interest in Adventure Games.

I just wanted to say thank you! If you guys have anyone you want to mentione go right ahead.

Now for my suggestions list.... Nah, just kidding ;)

Critics' Lounge / My basic DOTT Style room
Sun 26/07/2009 23:34:43
So, I am trying to create a Star Wars Game using DOTT Style graphics. Unfortunately, I wont be using my graphics because I am horrible at it. Anyway, this is my first attempt at a DOTT style room. What else can I do to improve it?

I have been working on a site for an all-adventure community. This site is mainly for finding downloads and archiving great software and all software in general related to Adventure Games. But its biggest feature is the social aspect of it and the development aspect of it. The site is a great portal for finding resources that will help in your game development and a great resource for finding the latest news and stuff. The site is a work in progress. But I need your help. I need you to check out the site and tell me what you think of it, what you would like to see/ what improvements I need to make and what would have you all keep coming to the site as a main Adventure resource site.

For now let me tell you the main features it has:

General site features:
You can translate the site into several languages.
You can bookmark the site to Google, yahoo, twitter, etc...
You can search the site.
Awards and Hall of Fame. HOF coming soon.
Store-- Coming soon.

Social features:
Forum
An IRC type chat engine built into the site itself.
Private Messaging
Users have a personal page
Users can have blogs.
Users can create and join User specific groups.

Resources:
Downloads(Games, engines, tutorials, etc...)
Wiki
WebLinks
Publish your game with us... Not yet implemented.

Fun:
Fan Fiction section
Fan art section to come soon.

Team Development:
Project starter/Personal Projects
Post a search for a team.

Profile/Profile Searching:
You can see your user page.
You can see your awards.
You can add what games your working on.
You can put in contact info.
You can tell us what your 10 favorite games are.
You can specify what skills you have and to what degree you can use them.
You can specify what languages you speak.
You can upload personal files.
You can have a user gallery showcasing your art work or art and images in general.
You can have a personal guest book for yourself.

AND THERE WILL BE MORE AS I GO.

A note about "Project Starter/Personal Projects". This is a great tool. You can create a project (Game, or Engine or whatever, as long as its adventure related). You can add users and give them permissions and access levels. Your project can have news and task assignments and a calendar. You also  have a private forum just for your project members and more. Everything stays private or public depending on your settings. You can also upload your files. I feel that this is a great way to get Teams working and organized on projects.

What I will need from you:
I need input and suggestions. If I can have board moderators and even site administrators, that would help immensely. If you have resources, games, tutorials, artwork... ANYTHING that you can upload to the site, that would help content-wise. Bug-testing would also be a big help. Eventually Donations for server costs would be helpful as well. If you want to host specific sites for specific projects, such as RON or anything, that would also help with content and visitors. Also promote the site where you can.

Future items:
Shop
Hall of Fame
Adventure Top Sites
Anything you can think of.

Thanks all for listening and for your help. The site is http://www.adventurestockpile.com .

----------------------------

Update 6/08/10:

Well, I updated the site with a better looking design, imo anyway, for adventure games. I have some downloads there, so you can check it out. Let me know what you think. The site is on a new server which will be shared with http://www.jediorder-swc.com and it allows for unlimited space and bandwidth. Enjoy.  Thanks.

Ok, so I am working on an adventure site. I am trying to make it a one stop area for all your adventure needs. It is supposed to contain fanart/fiction, game resources, art programs and tutorials, forums, articles, walkthroughs, news, reviews, previews, etc... and more. I am keeping the name a secret until this actually gets made. I wanted to mention a few features of the site already. It does contain older engines on the site with documentation and such. For instance you will find:

Agast
Edpack (Spanish)
Maker r1 (German)
on the site. You will also have an archive of older versions of AGS and AC_editor.
I am planning on mirroring games and demo's and plugins/modules/templates for every engine I can find.

The site also contains some SCUMM, SCI, AGI tools.

I have a fairly large forum that is being set up. For instance there is a section for all the active engines I can find. Each engine has sub-forums to discuss released games, WIP's, cheats, etc...

There is a general forum which will also contain critics and critiques, new engine releases, etc... A general feature I am putting in here is the Team sections. Basically I just want to allow an area where anyone looking for help or offering help on a project/game can post individual threads for each requirement and not in a single thread. Eventually I want to create a component for the site to do this.

Some of my more prouder features which are incorporated already are:
A links library where you can submit links for approvals.
A users "MySpace" type page.
A Blog for each user.
Uploading files for users.
A Cafepress and lulu store.

And the biggest feature which is already incorporated and ready to go is the Projects page for the users. Think Sourceforge, just a little more conservative (if you choose). Basically you start up a project. You create a project. You can define a deadline if you want, add a description, a name and if the project is accepting new members and if its public.

Once the info is submitted, an administrator will need to accept or deny the project. Now, in the project screen itself, you have tons of features available to you to use that will help in the development of your project/game:

You can edit your projects profiles.
You can edit users and assign access levels
You can accept join requests or invite a user to a project.
You can add and assign groups
Each project has its own personal Board for posting discussions and such.
Each project has a calendar to add an event to a project.
You can assign tasks to a user.
You have a file manager to upload files for a project.

Basically its a great tool for teams to create an engine or a game. It keeps things organized and such.

My question to you all now is, what other features should I add to this site that would be useful to an adventure game developer? What feature would be good for an adventure game fan?

What would personally have you come to the site on a regular basis? What would you like to see on it?

For individual users, are the features I mentioned above enough? Or would you like more?

What kind of content would you like on the site? Interviews? Flash games ? etc...

What would help you to be able to develop games that the site could host?

What would it take to host your projects/games/engines/sites on this new adventure site? Yes, I will allow for sites to be hosted on my site. I just wanted to know what it is that I must do to get that to happen.

Now for the help part of it. I need some help in regards to board moderators. People who will be examplarary and uphold the rules of the board.

I also need others to help accept and deny projects that get submitted as well as make sure that they are not dead projects. This person must be honest and trustworthy and must keep all secrecy on all projects. I might not allow for anyone at the moment to take this job as I might be able to handle it personally.

I need someone to provide me with art for the site and for smilies on the board.

Anyone who wants to review and preview games/products or conduct interviews or write articles on the site is more than welcome to join as a writer.

Anyone who wants to host a project on my site or test out the group project site can send me a PM and I will send them a private link to where the page is located.

If there is anyone who does not want their game/module/plugin/template/files posted on the site, please say so here as well.

Thanks for all your feedback in advance. Let the insight begin...

Does anyone have a copy of several versions of Agast along with the tools and morningstar? Also, if anyone remembers Mastertons adventure engine called Maker R2 and R1, does anyone have any of those engines that they can upload or help me find?

Reason: I am creating an adventure resource page and want to include these engines just for the sake of it. Thanks in advance.

I noticed several users here still use the older versions of AGS. This might stump some of us as to why. Some of us know. But I am personally curious as to why many people here opt out of using the latest versions of AGS. Is it because of no Linux/Mac support? Is it because of the change in the scripting? Is it because of the lack of the interaction editor? I am curious to know your opinions...

I know this can be done already by creating several characters and using their inventories to be displayed in a certain inventory window. But it gets too sloppy, particularly if you have four characters who use 3 different inventories. Plus it could get confusing when scripting it.

My suggestion would be to be able to add Inventory type numbers to an inventory object. For instance, so I have a key. Under the type for it I would put a 1 in it. For a magic potion, I would put a 2 in there. For a gun, I would put a 3  etc.. So basically I have defined for myself that 1 is a normal item, 2 is a magic item and 3 is a weapon.

So if I want an inventory window to display weapons, I would then put in its properties for inventory type to display a 3.

And perhaps some scripting options to change inventory type to display for an Inventory window and to change the type of an inventory as well?

Would this be possible? Would offer some cleaner organization for our games.
