Completion of the first game is done. But I have a serious problem, actually a few.

As Scummbuddy may have noticed when trying to upload to my server, we both had some serious issues there.

Nextly, the file download is more than 5 megs, unzipped is like 8. But my connection sends the upload at 1.2 kbps and my connection stays on for only 15 minutes at a time. I am having some serious connection problems.

My FTP program wont continue the upload from where it left off.

If anyone has any good FTP programs I could use, please let me know.

OK, I got an Internet connection! Yay!

I will upload the game before next thursday. But I am actually thinking of releasing it January 1st to try and see if I can make the game be the first one released in 2004.

But on the other hand, I would love to qualify for the awards. What do you all think?

And just to shed some more light on the template... All walkable area's will be defined and set and the walkbehinds. Even the hotspots. And every room is connected to eachother properly. Also It will include all the Simpsons family characters and other characters and locations and objects/sprites/inventory.

Even the GUI will be set up for you. All you have to do is make the game at that point. Although there would be some code already put in, I will not include comments in there. Sorry.

Personally, I agree that 3D is not needed in AGS at the moment.

I think it has still some minor things to create like Sub-Rooms for lockers and stuff.

I even think that it should implement all the features, or most of the features that the plugins have.

But I think we could all hold off on the 3D. Especially like I said before, we dont have a lot of 3D designers here.

Dont get me wrong. I dont doubt the power of 3D. And I think if something was well thought out, a 3D adventure game could be made.

I think if anyone wants 3D, make a plugin. Its the only good thing to do at this point.

Well, if you look at one of the Nokia phones, it flips open into a keyboard. So that helps.

Besides that, many of those phones also support external keyboad attachments. I think those type of games could work on phones.

Also we need to remember something, no matter how bulky the game is, if your at a very boring event or place, you dont care. Your gonna play those games anyway.

If anyone likes RPG's or making RPGS and is pretty good in VB programming... RPG Toolkit is now open source (CVS).

Check it out here: www.rpgtoolkit.com

You can begin doing things to it to improve it.

Yes, I know. I get this question a lot.  :)

The game is not online anymore. The free webhosts are garbage.

So I recently bought my own Domain name and my own webhost package.

When I am ready to upload the game, it will be on that new website.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Hey Thanks Scummbuddy. I appreciate all your help in this.

I guess I could announce to the community that ScummBuddy has been a very helpful person in my Simpsons game. Lots of thanks goto him.

By the Way, I never thought a game I am making would ever get over 70 replies!!!!

Hit and Run is Cool.

It is almost, not quite, but ALMOST like an adventure game in 3D... Just not point and click.

But its still good.

Hey no problem, it is all good.

Yeah I think it is easier to do 3D Characters.

If someone does create a plugin for this, I will e-mail them my poser 2 3D character.

Just thought of something stupid...

Since most users here are Windows users, maybe someone could create a 3D plugin for 3D NPC characters, and objects.

Thats one way of implementing 3D in AGS.

Although I cant see how with a plugin though you could make the playing character 3D.

Nah, I think verywierdguys link was right ;)

But Snakes thread looks cool anyway!

BTW:  Dont expect "Where's maggie" to be such a spectacular game. Its just to release a game, becouse I have been in this community since the begining and never released a game.

But Expect "Springfield Woes" to be Kickbutt!

PS: Yes, I am making the games

Sorry guys.

I am going to try to release these two games and demos by wednesday, latest friday.

Sorry for the inconvenience guys.

Dang, Chris beat me to a comment.

I was gonna say that it might only be possible for the moment to have 3D characters and objects in an adventure game with AGS.

And prolly the next best thing to try and make AGS 3D like would be that you have the ability to save different images to be different room angles. EG: One would be facing the right wall, the other image would be you facing the left wall etc... But the only thing you could do is really change the bitmap of that scene. I know what I just said might not make sense, but thats becouse I just explain things badly.

But yeah, you would be limited in what you could do in 3d in ags.

Plus how many people really do program in 3d here? I use poser to make my characters, but does anyone else really do this type of stuff other than Danny and Terranrich?

Just my two blue cups.

Wow, this game has been announcec abandonware for just a day and already there are plans to distribute it. Atleast that means it was a popular game.

Sorry to see this game go Ionias. I hope you do make more games in the future, whether freeware of buyware.

And congratulations on making the first commercial adventure with AGS.

Holy moly! Good stuff! You truly deserve the rank of Sith Lord!

I think you should use the guy in the hat by the way.

I have a question. My Simpsons Demo was in the 2002 list.

This friday I should have a complete new (but short) game about the Simpsons called "Where's Maggie". Its a completely new game from my demo. Would this qualify?

Also, the old Demo(Springfield Woes) I made has been remade and has more rooms and more characters. Could this be renominated for the 2003 list?

I think they offer the source code to both applications and your supposed to use it as a library. Sort of like Allegro, SDL or MAD.

I will try to find a guide for you to help you in that. Just keep in mind I am a basic C++ programmer.

Hi PSP!

Have you checked out the section about properties in the manual? I think that may give you the answer you may need.

Sorry if this wasn't helpful, and if it was, glad to help.
