Isn't there a wrapper for SDL for those who use Allegro? I could be wrong and it might not be of much help, but maybe a wrapper would be helpful.

I think since the engine and editor are now open source, the best thing to do is to also open up a new development forum to discuss further implementation options and code structure.

I agree, there are a few things that need to be done before porting or adding features to AGS. For instance:

1) Code needs to be cleaned up more so for better understanding and better porting/implementation.
2) Code needs to be documented and commented better.
3) A plan needs to be discussed as to how to maximize portability of the Engine source.
4) Another plan needs to be in place to discuss what kind of ports will be created and how the engine should function to obtain that portability.
5) A user group of CJ, Steve Mcrea, Elektroshocker and others should be established as to lead and maintain the project.
6) A standard should be set as to how new features will be implemented so that they achieve maximum portability and stability.

Personally, I feel that the main focus for AGS before implementing new features is to clean it up, optimize it and be sure it can run on other operating systems. New gaming features can be added after. After all, the engine can already do anything we need it to. We just now need it to be playable on other systems.

Wow amazing! When I get back from Oregon, I will take a look at the code. This is awesome. I am learning c++ and c# currently and hopefully sometime in the future I can help with this project. Thanks CJ!

First off, you shouldn't steal products with a KeyGen. But, now that I have said that. :)

Try putting in a Windows Disk, run recovery mode and fix the master boot record (MBR) Just be careful when you do that.

Sorry Snake to hear about your step-dad. If you are a religious person, I would recommend trying to find comfort in the words found in John 5:25-29 and Job 14:13-15.

Wow! Those are awesome.

Make sure the setup file is in the wine c drive folder. If you go to your username directory and press ctrl-h, you will get all the hidden folders. The c drive folder is in .wine. Once you move it there, click the properties and make sure the file has the executable option checked.

Try it then.

Also, make sure you have ./winetricks installed and run it to install DirectX drivers, dotnet 2, comctrl and others if you need them. Hope this helps.

Also, once you move it into that c drive folder, you could execute it by just double clicking it.

Currently I am remaking Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. This has been a life long dream of mine. This is the project I want to put ahead of all other projects, but I need graphical help for it. I have specifically cancelled this project 2 times already because of lack of a good graphic artist. So I desperately need help here.

Features of the Game:

*Updated puzzles and Jokes
*Updated Graphics
*More but I want to keep it a surprise.

What am I looking for? Well, I have seen the talent around here for AGS'ers and I am looking for a fresh and modern look for Zak. It can be DOTT Style, COMI Style, EMI Style, Journey Down STyle, Professor Neely style, MI 1 2 special edition style, Full throttle, etc... It just needs to be good and modernish.

What specifically do I need:

*Graphic artists to work on GUI's, items, animations, characters and backgrounds.
*Musicians to work on the soundtrack.
*Graphics will be 320x240 or whichever the artists prefer.
*There are atleast 12 or so characters that I will need done for the game and about 55 backgrounds.
*I can not afford to pay anyone.
*There is no deadline. We work on this in our spare time and have fun with it.
*I will take all input from all members who join my team.

If you are interested, PM Me please.

Which background versions will you use? The classic RON style, Krysis's style, Big Brother's style, etc.?
I'm gonna go with the Krysis style.

Yeah, the website has gone back to the "vive glumol" text.

I am finally dipping into making a game this year and I figured the best way for me to do so would be to use a background that is already established and art resources already available to me since I am not an artist of any sort.

Will you use only the existing RON materials, or add some new as well? Suppose the alternate realities (at least some of them) would require changing the RON backgrounds to add a new twist to them.

Well, I will mostly use the old material already available. I will alter some images and such, but for the most part, a lot will look a like. This is mostly a way for me to make a game without needing too much graphical talent.

There will be two new characters who are the same person, but also different that I will introduce. ---- Hint hint. I will leave it to you to guess what I am talking about.

Combine forces with adventure stock pile. **Clears Throat***  :=

OK awesome, so then I will go on with my game.
#495
Yeah, then when you are done with this one, go on over and help out the FoY team. :P

Do you use a CMS for the site? PHP? Your own PHP CMS System?

I am finally dipping into making a game this year and I figured the best way for me to do so would be to use a background that is already established and art resources already available to me since I am not an artist of any sort.

The Game I am intending on making is A-RON, which stands for Alternate Reality on the Norm. The game takes place in the RON town and surrounding area with a new twist to it. I would like to add a location outside of RON which takes the player to a cave. The cave is called "La grotte de rebondissements mystique" (Or The Cave of mystical twists). In it, the player travels to it to find that the Cave has powers that can transport him or her to an Alternate Reality on the Norm, where it is Reality, but not. Many alternate realities exist, with different twists. The trick is to get to the Reality you belong to once you have been transported away.

The idea came to me when watching a DC cartoon where in the comics they establish alternate timelines and stories based on alternate earths. It leaves the original story in tact, but allows people to explore new "What-IF" scenario's that stray away from the original. I thought this could work for RON as well.

Does anyone object to this idea? Has this been done already? Is someone else already working on a game like this?

Indeed they are... oohhh how I wish I had this kind of talent...

I think its great! I am no art critic, but it seems to capture AGI style very nicely.
