Joseph DiPerla, sorry if this sounds a bit harsh, but if you wanted your polls to be taken seriously, you might have wanted to put a little more effort into them, like using a script that allows for more than twelve different options in a single poll and that allows users to suggest additional options, especially as the current selection of games is a mixed bag. There are redundant entries (The Dig), misspelled (Phreddy Pharcass) and mis-titled entries (Secret of Monkey Island 2), non-existing entries (LSL4), arguably non-adventure entries (Cyberia), lots of missing entries (for example any of the adventures by Coktel Vision, Cryo or Yahtzee, but also many Sierra titles) and no discernible (alphabetical, chronological, by company) way of ordering the options to find what you'd want to vote for. Also, good luck with getting anything near 280 votes by the end of October.

Actually, I already got 12 votes on my page already in just one day and my web statistics point that those came from this forum. :p

But you are right. I was doing this at work during lunch and didn't have much time to make a proper poll. So I have added a new component to the site and I am editing the polls as we speak.

There are a few things I am going to do that you suggested and not others. I am not going to put this in Alphabetical order or in Company order. If you know your favorite game, it should come to you and you could do a ctrl-f and search for it.

I will make the corrections. Also please state any other games that are not on there that you would want to see.

I figured we should start a real poll. Pass this info around and choose your favorite Adventure Game on my website.

PLEASE NOTE THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:

THERE IS A QUICKER POLL HERE: http://energon-plant.com/ehome/index.php?option=com_pollask=results&id=16&Itemid=124

PLEASE: Dont vote on each poll. Rather, find your favorite game and select it and vote and then leave the other polls alone. You can see the results on the page itself.

I will close the polls at the end of October. So start voting now. Only vote once please for accurate results. Thanks.

7) MI 1

THERE IS A QUICKER POLL HERE: http://energon-plant.com/ehome/index.php?option=com_pollask=results&id=16&Itemid=124

PLEASE: Dont vote on each poll. Rather, find your favorite game and select it and vote and then leave the other polls alone. You can see the results on the page itself.

Ok Thanks CJ.  But I was wondering for even just objects and resizing them when we add them to the room. Can we edit the size by just using the attributes window?
#765
Yeah, but I would still have to keep starting and restarting the game and editor to fix it until I got it right.
#766
The reason I ask this though is because I have certain objects that need to change in size after a certain puzzle.  But I dont want to keep running the game to see if the object resized well or not. I know there is a script to resize the object at run-time.

But maybe in the editor we can have an attributes setting where we can change its X size and Y Size and it would do it on screen for us so we see how it looks.
#767
Hey CJ. Sorry to bug you on this. But everytime I try to program my game and try to get the size of the characters and objects I have to keep restarting my game and going to the specific room to see how it looks.

Is there anyway we can do a "Place character in current room" Button where the character would be placed there to see it in contrast to the rest of the room?

Also, can we have object resizing as well on the screen?

For some reason I thought the editor supported this already. I just cant seem to find it in the manual or on the editor itself. So, if its already there, can someone point me to it? Thanks. If not, CJ, you think this can be an addition to the editor? At a minimum I would need the object resizer.

I think we can learn from RoN. We can avoid repeating certain mistakes that RoN made.

What I would propose is something I have wanted to do for a long time, but noone wanted to do this.  So, being that this is here now, again, I am going to throw in my idea.

I was thinking about doing a realistic series of P&C Adventure games based on Super Heroes we create. Basically, I wanted to create our series similar to Marvel or DC, just in a video game Genre with our own idea's and characters.

We can create a team of administrators who would be responsible for the whole series. Of course anyone can make a game within the series, but we can do this ala George Lucas does with Star Wars. Our administrators can create their own games. But their main job is that to control what games enter the series and whats excepted as Canon or not. They would also approve what character/background/art is accepted and set standards and stuff. This would be the breakdown:

The Series Gods (Atleast 3): These guys approve the style, the characters, the story and other things. They also approve what games are considered canon or not. They also create and modify the rules of the series.

The art Administrator (2 atleast): These guys design the template or basic art style within the game, being either for Characters, icons, items, backgrounds, animations, GUI's etc...

Story Administrators: These guys review all games and other media for consistency and accuracy.

Powder Monkey Staff: Other odd jobs assigned to the series stuff. These odd jobs can be advertising the games, maintaining the website and helping where ever else its needed.

If you all think this is a decent idea, please let me know and I will start a new thread with my full synopsis and idea for this along with some rules I made for this series. Then I can ask who would want to join the administration team and I can then start a website for us. I have 350 gig hosting company that is really good.

Hey DB, let me know if you need web hosting for your game. Let me know if you need a website designed as well. Cant guarantee anything flashy though. PM me.

That would make a great game!

Some good ideas for adventure games I'd like to see:

Futurama
Simpsons
SouthPark
Evil Dead/Army of Darkness
Doctor Who

There was a Futurama Fan game being made that was cancelled. South Park was also made by AGS a few years back. Doctor who is currently in Development by someone in the Games in progress forum.

And for simpsons, thats my department. Check out the HUGE simpsons game template here(4 megabytes): http://www.energonplant.com/SimpsonTemp.zip
It has 43 rooms, most of which already have the walkable area's and walkbehind done and the scaling done. Most of them can also be linked together. It has like 11 characters or something like that and several sprites and each character has their own gui as well as some other crucial GUI's needed. The gui's are already programmed in. This may work on the latest version of AGS, but please remember it was compiled with earlier versions.

and A demo of Where's Maggie: http://energon-plant.com/OLD_ENERGON/SimpWM.rar
(This one is around 3 megabytes and was actually updated this month. Also, keep hitting the "F" KEYS to get around. EG: F1 F5 F7 etc...)

Most of these are already games! Just not adventure games..

"Justice League"

Crap beat em up RPG game.

"Batman"

Always a crap game.

"Futurama"

Crap shoot em up adventure game.

24

Average game.

Star Wars

(Being made into a  p' n c' with AGS, no?)
Some good, most crap.

True, but I would like to see them as adventure games. And shadows of the empire is great, but I would also like to see the two trilogies made into PNC adventures.
#773
I wish they would put movies and shows into games. Some games I personally would love to see done that to is:

Smallville
Justice League
Batman
Futurama
24
North by Northwest
To catch a thief
Dial M for Murder
Star Wars
Prison Break

Just to name a few...

http://www.cprogramming.com is another good resource. Both for C and C++.
http://www.planetsourcecode.com is excellent for finding source code in several Languages including C++.

Its been listed by me, But thats the original ones I posted last week...

Some games also support screenshots by pressing F12 or some other key. Read the games instructions for this.

Vista runs the editor fine. Maybe some games too.

I booted up the PC with Vista and ran Dr. Who demo. It crashed my CPU. Something went wrong with the graphics I think. Maybe it wasn't a capatible Graphics card as Windows Vista does have a problem with GC capatability.

Ok, I just updated the program. Here is what I posted on the site:

I just updated the program again. Just goto the download page and get it. For those who are downloading this for the first time, you should download Version 0.02 and replace it with 0.03 or else the game wont work.

Here are some changes:

*Bug fixes galore... Should be fewer crashes. Although the speed is still the same.
*A slight redesign thats probably not noticable.
*You can now view the Matrix capabilities of your character.
*You can now view your NPC's if you have any.
*All features not yet programmed into the game have been disabled on the menu...
Enjoy and tell me what you think so far...

For aceditor or early versions of AGS, I thought he did have several translations... Then it stopped due to popularity and being too much work. I think he had language packs.
