This week's topic is inspired by all the recent talk of the death of Chris Jones. You have three options for your pic:

Recent talk of the Death of Chris Jones???? I have been in and out of this community in the last month, but what? CJ dead? What do you mean? Are we talking about Tex Murphy CJ?

Mods Rocks!!! He is bringing us with a new Indy adventure game!

Looks great!!! I am a big Simpsons fan, so I look forward to trying it out.

BTW: Check further in the games in production forum for my game based on the simpsons.

I am making two. One is already finished. If I get a better net connection, I will upload it to my site.

And I will release the template for everyone to make use and make their own games.

But yours looks great. Welcome by the way.

I still remember this game!!!

I was waiting for this!!!

If you need a website to host it on, I can give you space. Please PM me. Besides untill my modem works better, I cant upload anything that I own.

But I can try and setup an account for you.

PM me and we can talk.

Sorry for not replying, my net connection is horrible. I am thinking about going DSL. Sorry about that.

Anyways, yeah, DMA is on, but still nothing.

I will try DVD Genie to see if it would fix the problem.

Whats Liteon?

Anyway, I did fix it, partially. I used DVD X player (I only have the trial edition). It works fine for some reason. Better than I would have expected. Only thing is that it expires after 30 days and I can only watch 15 minutes at a time.

So I downloaded DVD X Copy free, and it plays it fine too, but it doesn't have other features that make it comfortable.

I used the following players without any luck:

Maximus DVD
Eugenes DVD player (Missing SDudf.dll or something like that)
I coded my own DVD player in VB
I used other custom programmed DVD players
Interactual Player (Gives me a CSS error)
Media Player (Gives me a digital copyright error
DivX Player --- Extremely bad video
WinDVD

None of these worked.

Any other ideas?

One more... Perhaps even a smallville game?

I reinstalled my DVD players.

And I tried all those things mentioned.

The DVD player I use came with my gateway computer.

I even did the troubleshooting thing in windows, but nothing. Any other idea's?

General Discussion / Help again--DVD PC issue
Wed 21/01/2004 03:27:27
Okay, I dont know what I am doing wrong, but when I first bought my pc 3 weeks ago, I was able to run DVD's fine off my Computer.

Now, still being set in region 1...

I use Windows media player to play them and I get a digital copyright protection error and it wont play my DVD's. I use the Interactual player and it gives me a CSS error.

I use WinDVD and I the video it plays is choppy, extremely choppy.

I tried reinstalling the movies, and I tried to use other programs and download the mpeg2 codec and install it.

What else can I do?

And my DVD's are actually DVD's, not copies, and they are region 1 DVD's cause they play on my regular Region 1 DVD player.

I say do either a "24" Game, a Transformers game, A Star Wars game, or a Terminator game.

Those are my choices.

ok I may have found a solution. I could use ISO Buster from www.webattack.com, then extract the AVI file to my drive and Divfix to repair the index so it can play on media player.

YAY!
#1035
Unstoppable copier didn't work. In fact, a file I created worked better than that one (Not to insult it).

Sorry guys. I am gonna try the WinISO thing and see if it works.

If anyone can create something in C++ to help, that would be great.

Yeah, I have the CRC error. I tried copy and paste and ripping using Nero. Any other ideas?
#1037
Okay here is the situation...

I have a friend burn me a copy of a few AVI's to CD. Unfortunatly, there is a CRC error on one of them.

I cant play it all, or else it will crash my system.

If I try and copy it from the CD to harddrive, it wont let me do that.

I have programs to fix this file, but I need to get it off the CD first. If I dont get it off the CD, for some reason my movie fixers wont copy a fixed version to harddisk. I have to copy it off CD first.

What can I do to do this? Or how can I get a fixing program that would do it right from the CD.

I think the reason my programs wont do it is becouse it cant write to the same CD.

I am currently using DivFix.

Yeah, its my ISP, I have to keep reconnecting to it. It has bad connections.

It could be my computer in general, becouse I used AOL, Netzero, and Juno and they all connect me at the same speeds.
