NICKY NYCE THANK YOU!

Ugh... Khris, yeah I've been manually adding code cause I didn't/don't know how to add things through the editor. :(

So how and where would I use that code? Do I call a function and then put it between the curly brackets?

This is my issue, I can look up necessary attributes in the manual, but I don't know how to connect them, or place them to be called or accessed. :/

(Last time I used AGS the Attribute editor was just being phased out >:( )

Thank you Mandle. It's 256. So.... what are my other options to achieve the same result?

Also my question still stands. What should I do about coding... what tutorials and complete beginners guide do you recommend?

Guys, Girls, Non-binaries,

I AM GOING INSANE! Ok, I've got a conversation going on with a character behind a door, I placed them in the scene so that the position of the dialog text is correct. But trying to call the variables for the character to define visibility JUST AREN'T working... I've tried setting visibility = false I've tried setting transparency I am getting no where... I also attempted to scale the character smaller and hide them behind a nonwalkable area... nothing... nothing is affecting the fucking character, it remains...

Code: ags

function room_Load()
{
cEgo.Transparency = 100;
}

My biggest problem is I don't understand when and how I define variables for characters. Or Functions for interactions, I get half of it, but my syntax is wrong. Is there a set of tutorials for the new engine that can help, the ones written directly by Chris on the main page don't give me enough understanding WHY certain phrases and pieces are called and used together... Are there any scripting tutorials that can help me understand the formatting and procedure to make some headway and context for programming in general?

Thanks Khris, that appears to have fixed it... I'm retesting it now to be certain.

You're a god send...

Hello World,

It's been 13 years since my first game, and 6 years since I was last here. I logged in to review my original game and update it for the new millenium... and possibly ios...

Well in upgrading it from 2.71 to ANY version of 3 I have hit a few snags.

I am getting a single coding error.
room3.asc(301): Error (line 301): Undefined token 'unhandled_event'

the unhandled event on line 301 is unhandled_event(1, 3)... which is used elsewhere with no issues.

Code: ags
function hHotspot3_UseInv()
{
if (player.ActiveInventory == inventory[18]) {
hotspot3_a();
}
else {
 unhandled_event(1, 3);
}
}

SO I did some research and added to the global header...
Code: ags
import function unhandled_event(1, 3);

BUT this just yields this error...
GlobalScript.ash(7): Error (line 7): PE03: Parse error at '1'

It's been years... I got nothing.

Critics' Lounge / Storyboard/Comic book page

This is re-jigged artwork form 2002 or 2004 with the dialogue added in and converted to a comic book page. my weaknesses are colour, text and pacing in a static medium. I'm an actor so i can pace it vocally but it seems flat on the page.

Quote from: gypsysnail on Mon 12/02/2007 12:50:47maybe Daylesford in country Vic or just some nice country town where everyone can meet up at.
Actually a friend of mine mentioned Daylesford today for this trip, then went on to explain that Daylesfords chief export is manly lesbians :D... he said its a nice place though.

Well cosmicr how about all the Melbourne AGSers meet casually sometime in the next few weeks. So that we at least aren't strangers. And brisbanites (and locals can do the same) , and people from sydney and surrounding areas etc. Nothing big just all turning up in the same spot, maybe, coffee or a beer depending on age gropup...

Just as first steps to something bigger later on? How is that?

(like dating no commitment, just taking it step by step)

How do people feel for mid year, set at the same time as midyear university holidays? Taking place over 5 days? Further south so its a little colder than 35 degrees and a hundred percent humity (i'm looking at you QLD)? And either camping, or staying at some sort of Ski lodge, or just mountainous country side?

Sure people from other countries are invited. I just remember the first few times someone tried to organise this, and it all kinda disolved when people from other countries complained on how far away Australia was.
