It's not Superman, and by "not about hackers" I meant that there are no people breaking into a computer system or network.
I'll post another clue in a few hours if it's still needed by then.

None of the above and not Redford, but this is a good spot, Kweepa. It's an early 80s movie.

And, because I'm not sure if my hint wasn't somewhat misleading, this movie is not about hackers.

This is a telephone booth, yes :) It's not The Booth.

It's not War Games, but the guy does hack into something, in a way. It's not Back to the Future, either.

Next clue:

I unfortunately don't own this on DVD, so I can't provide a high quality snapshot.

Picnic At Hanging Rock?

I encountered this issue a few times while importing graphics in PNG format. For some reason, AGS sometimes incorrectly reads color values in PNG and only PNG (as far as I noticed, at least) even if the image has no alpha channel. Try converting your PNG frames to GIF, it always does the trick for me if this problem occurs.

Not exactly :)
娼婦 means something closer to 'sex worker' and I haven't heard anyone ever use that word in a daily conversation. 売春 (baishun) is a much more popular word. 幸せ will require a な (na) suffix if a noun follows. The output would be 幸せな売春ナンã,·ãƒ¼.

Just my two cents :)

Thanks! I never thought of making a tutorial myself because there's plenty of artists here I could learn from, but I'll be happy to explain how I make my backgrounds if someone is interested.

m0ds, thanks a lot for uploading the tracks! I really liked LNF music, especially the mansion theme, so it's nice to have them on my hard drive in a better quality.

I don't think that's a good comparison, WHAM. You're trying to merge two completely different markets.

Game developers optimize their products for older machines because the lower system requirements are, the more people will buy their games. If they didn't optimize the game, the customers would have to purchase new machines to run it. There's no other choice but to optimize the graphics.
People who use outdated browsers can just download and install a new one for free. And because some of them won't for who knows what reason, the cost of making any web application is much higher since every project leader will want it compatible with all browsers, including those the use of which does not make sense at all.

Khris, that's an awesome edit.

Frito, the concept looks very promising, I really hope you'll pull it off. And that's a sweet-looking row of trees you did in that background picture!

1: x2 2: x2 3: x2 4: High-res! x1!
1&2 are screenshot mockups based on loose ideas for a game, 3 is a remake of my old MAGS game, The Snow Queen, 4 is an attempt at 640x480 resolution, a background+some sprites.

Mythaumatology focusses heavily on its main character and I think using extra expressions and stances make it easier for the player to relate to Kee. Not so sure how far I can push it; the sprites are relatively small and I can't do much with the eyes, but it's interesting indeed.
Chance of the Dead had some neat facial expressions that added a lot to the overall enjoyability of the game, so if this is going to have even more of them, then I can't wait to see how it will turn out!

My vote goes to human heart bagpipe by Tabata, for how she managed to squeeze such a complex shape within the given outline :)

It's awesome news that this is back into production. The screenshots look beautiful!
QuoteKee can now switch between several speech views to allow her to show more emotion
Cool idea. It's fun to see how each of the screenshots in the main thread shows her with a different facial expression.

Well, this guy is certainly much better than you, so it seems like a good idea to let him take over. But how are you gonna deal with the obvious quality difference between his character designs and your in-game sprites? Do you plan to have him draw 4 directional idle sprites for you to animate?

Congrats cat, well deserved :)

My vote goes to cat's narcissus.
