Look at the floor left of the boxes. There's a small indentation on the floor.
Spoiler
Look at the indentation  and use the cane on it.

Then you're not quick enough. Just walk straight over to the dark section near the hotel.

To meet Mingo, you need something to be able to defeat him. My guess is you missed something in the museum. What's in your inventory?

I agree with the fact that you have to play the games in a very short amount of time. Even for someone like me, who's playing an average of 2 games a day, I have sometimes trouble to finish the game in time (but so has the game maker). Especially if they're getting longer and longer and do not include a walkthrough it can take a while. Not that a walkthrough should be included, it would only spoil the puzzles.

So, to feed  the discussion some more, maybe shortening  the creation period to 20 days, giving 5 days to play (which I think is short already) and the rest of the time to vote and create new rules? Disadvantage may be that less games will be entered if you see how little games now enter and see how many people say they won't make it in time. Maybe extending the time to 45 days of creation, 10 days of playing and 5 days of voting and creasing a new ruleset and make it a two-monthly competition to give more people a chance to enter because in two months they can find a bit more time to make something and others have more time to play.

That will attract people who now say they won't have enough time to enter or find the pressure too big to make it in 25 days. These are just thoughts maybe should this discussion be separated from the competition itself. For now, let's leave things like they are. I'll keep from commenting before voting to make it all as fair as possible and will give my arguments afterwards.

In Devon:

Visit Dartmoor if you like hiking. You can get lost there for hours. Steep climbs, rivers to cross etc. There are several routes on paper or online.

Also the Canonteign falls or Becky Falls if you like to see some water other than the coast. A walk around Berry Head at Brixham, go crab fishing there.

There are also a few good spots to go diving. Enough wrecks at the coastline. Or go fishing at sea, boats leaving from Brixham, Torquay and Paignton.

Visit Paignton Zoo or descend Kents Cavern in Torquay. More there: The Living Coast Sealife Center or Babbacombe Modelvillage.  Attraction parks: Quay West waterpark in Paignton or Crealy near Exeter.

A good site: Things To Do.

On the other side of the coast (Cornwall) Tintagel is nice. If you're into knights and King Arthur, it's worth to visit the ruins of the castle (not much left) and see a re-enactment of the knights of the round table.

Do I sound like the Tourist Information office already?  ;D

The letters stand out because the font isn't the right one (or not similar to the other pages).

I've no problems with the thumbnails. Maybe make a pop up with bigger shot if you hover? I did similar on my site. Just hover the links. The transparency of the shots can vary so you could see the site through the images.

You then actually don' t know the code yet. To press the right buttons:

Spoiler
Detach the fingerprint set from the pamphlet and use the brush on the keypad. When you know which numbers to use, try to figure out the combination.

The only two points I can find during the first day are the fence in the field of the cow.

[update]

And indeed. In the field next to the farm, look at the gate (2 points). Talk to the sheriff and tell him your theory. Then leave the station and day 2 will start.

It's not the order.. It must be something else. Did you complete all dialogs? What's in your inventory?

Lazy voters!...  I'm obviously not going to get any votes this time. xD

It should be more open and visible to the public to see what's done with the votes. That's maybe why adding comments to your vote and show everyone why you've voted for that game makes it more interesting.  Actually it's one of the reasons I gave my comments before the end of the voting period: make people aware of the fact that the game is out there, let them know what the game is about and let them see for themselves.

Oh and... Tijne, there's more chance of getting votes than you might think:

1: If no one else completes in time, you'll have my vote.
2: If you come up with a good story and game, you might get my vote.

But if you don't enter:

You won't get my vote.

Another issue: if you enter the competition and you announce the game in the completed games section and you add it to the database before the end of the competition, make sure people know it's a MAGS game, explain what MAGS is and ask them to vote. Otherwise it's extra publicity for your game but won't earn you extra votes.

If you want to have very strict rules, you shouldn't be allowed to advertise you game anywhere else but the MAGS site until after voting. But that's a bit very harsh I think.

Hmmm... you might have missed some clues:

Spoiler
At the field where the cow was taken from (walk from the farm to the right), look at the drag marks, the blood spatter, the fence and the road left of the fence (easily missed).

If that's not it, give me your score so I can see where you are in the game.

From my site it isn't. Try it here and check the link at the bottom. To simplify, I put your name next to it ;-)

Started work on mine - but bear in mind that not only will this be my first MAGS but, if I make the deadline, my first real AGS game ever, nobody should hold their breath. Even though I've made my plan very simple...

That's the best way to start... and it has to be a first for everyone once. Good luck!

If the comments are visible after the vote, yeah, works for me. And the stats don't have to be during voting, but can be after (or maybe a "x votes so far"..).
#717
Well... yeah, when 2 people won, there are two winners...  :P

There was a problem with the entry of Aussie. It was a game already made and announced on the completed games board. Aussie asked if it was ok to enter it as an entry into the comp. It was overlooked by Klaus.  There hadn't been a voting since there seemed to be only one game at first so it was decided (by Klaus) to call it a tie when he discovered it. Two entries, two winners. Rules we slightly altered to prevent the situation in the future.

Aussie's request can be read here.
You can read all about Klaus' explanation here.

Klaus should know all the details.. or Aussie.

Sure can... it's a game from the MAGS competition and it's not in the database (yet).

There isn't much in the room so you have to use what you've got:
Spoiler
Search the body to find a knife.

Then use the items in the room:
Spoiler
Use the chair to flip it and use the knife to take a leg off. Use the body again to stage a scene and use the door to draw some attention.

To make sure you can get out:
Spoiler
Use the leg on Victor to knock him out and leave the room.

You can try to download the complete set since this game is from October 2004.

There's also a torrent file mentioned in that thread so you can download just one file if you use a torrent. If not, I've uploaded the file to my site so you can take it from there.
