Good luck Mods! Like LimpingFish said, it's a lot easier for us to sit here and type, "Do it!" than actually doing it would be! :)

That said if there is anyway that anybody else can help you out with this I know that I, and I'm sure others, would be more than willing to offer any assistance!

I don't know if you should need to ask this, Mods. Any adventure game company willing to send along developers and willing to show off games can only be a POSITIVE and GREAT thing!

The more games being exhibited, the better.

That said, I am of the mind that you should sort all that stuff out - getting companies to commit to exhibit games and talks [Both commercial and indie... not just indie], and THEN think about tickets. There can't be much interest (outside of the AGS forus) until there is a confirmed event happening with a confirmed lineup of confirmed guests and exhibitors, then you can start getting word out and press releases out and then I have no doubt that there would be more than enough interest  for the event to go ahead.

I think more exhibitors (in this case, Wizardbox?) can only help to draw more interest to the event.

Ah, thanks. I've never used Impress (don't have Powerpoint), now to figure out how to use this program. :)

What program do you use for making these diagrams?

Maybe it's also an idea to keep the games that are added to the database (responsibility of the game maker) in a central archive so links don't get broken anymore?

Very, very good idea!   :D

I have 15gigs of space available and a hundred gigs of bandwidth spare for a noble cause such as this.

I think it's definitely going to be 15-20 pound a ticket, no more than that. I'm interested to find out if anyone from overseas might attend, and whether you'd visit a two day event on both days, a two day event on one day, or think a one day event is an all round better option (and whether you'd then just do something else in London for the rest of the weekend) ...

Thanks!

I think this is a great idea and if it happens I hope that it can be organised with maximum coverage so as to really see a really good turnout.

I hope to have at least 1-2 adventure games by then so I would be interested in attending. I am from Australia - I don't know if anyone from this far would visit if they didn't have games they wanted to showoff - but I think it would only be worth it for me if it was a two day event (which I would attend both days), even if it was just an excuse for me to come back to Europe  ;)

Interesting, I didn't know the reasons why any particular resolution were ever chosen. Nor had I yet thought about the fact that many people play in a window (I can't focus on just a small window, with other things happening on the rest of the screen), or that most screens these days are widescreen.

Thank you greatly for the help.

I think it's a good idea. I think it is something that is important enough to the development of an AGS game that a dedicated forum would be more useful than just a thread. I don't think having it only open for people to offer their services would work, I think any graphic artist would be too afraid to be jumped by a million people clamoring for help on their best game ever.

I think it could work if there were guidelines like, "I need someone that can do [this] for this [specific] project, here is what has already been completed for it".

Just a thought. :)

Sorry if this is the wrong forum, but it didn't seem to fit in the beginners technical questions forum.

I am just a little bit confused about what screen resolution I want for my game. What is the standard used? How will presentation of the game be affected by choosing one over the other of these different resolutions? I get the impression that most games (that use this resolution) use 640*400. Am I correct? And what is the reasoning for this?

Thanks.
