Recruitment / Need animator/artist - PAID
Fri 16/09/2011 18:58:36
Sprite Animator/artist needed. We've had a few people interested but they somehow seem to disappear after they tell you they plan on working on the project.  All of the backgrounds but one are completed and a lot of the sprites are created but the game calls for a lot of unique animations.

Additionally, the game takes place on an alien world in a retro sci fi setting so there's room to stretch creatively.

I am set on completing this game. This will be a paid position and I will take bids on the job. PM me for the animation list/requirements.

Below is a sample sprite and background:

Anyone know? He did some great BG work for me about 3 years ago but then just disappeared.

That was it. I'm stupid. Thank you.

I have two characters and I'm using the "Say" command but only only one of their speech files plays when the speech is displayed. The player character displays speech and plays the appropriate file but the other character only displays the speech and does not play the audio.

I've tried making the character face the Ego's direction and set the view but no audio. I've also tried having the other character play an audio file that works fine with the Ego but again, no audio.

Anyone know how to fix this?

No, I get it loud and clear. But does he (or anyone else) need to be a d!ck about it? It was obviously something I overlooked in the manual. There's no need for him or anyone else to chime in after the question has been politely answered.

Right, so obviously I missed that. Thanks for pointing that out so EVERYONE knows how smart and well versed with the manual you are...

Thanks! That worked. I didn't realze objects needed walkable areas.

Right, so I have a guillotine in a scene and a timer set to drop it. No problem except when the guillotine drops it shoots out to the left and then tries to correct itself back to the correct coordinates to the right but doesn't quite make it.

I've tried removing all hotspots and objects below it thinking they might be interfering with the path but nothing seems to work. What would cause the object not to drop straight down,? I've tried setting .Solid to false but I get the same results.

Below is the code for the object movement. The blades starting coordinates are 198, 70.

Code: ags

if (IsTimerExpired(1)) {
    oBlade.Move(198, 141, 15, eBlock);

This game is going to be amazing! These backgrounds are unbelievable.

Ah, I see. Thanks!

Does anyone know where this GUI is located in the demo game? I can;t seem to find it to edit it's appearance. IT doesn;t appear in the regular GUI list and the script rally doesn;t help.

Sprite artist/Animator needed.

This is a PAID position. I will pay up to $250 for animations (Don't tell my sprite artist :)). This is how bad I want to complete this game.

The game will still be freeware so no one's going to be able to retire on this but I am willing to give a fair price for the animations needed. PM me for details.

All of the abckgrounds are completed and Mods has agreed to do some music so we are really only missing an animator to get this thing completed.

A lot of the sprites are created but the game calls for a lot of unique animations. The game takes place on an alien world in a retro sci fi setting so there's room to stretch creatively. PM me for more info and samples.

I would suggest a different background color that contrasts with the skin tone a bit more. It's hard to make out any detail.

Hello,

Is there a way to make a MouseYPos GUI remain visible after an icon is selected? I am using the drop down gui in the old sierra style but I am also incorporating the inventory in the same gui so there is essentially an inventory window in the main gui but I am finding that once I click the "Select" icon to pick an item the gui is disappearing and then I have to mouse back up to make it reappear. Is there a way to eliminate the disappearance?

Thanks in advance.

Matt

I like it. I think it's pretty simple once you look at it and it's all on one page.

How long would a game need to be for you to consider a game full length? I'm designing my first game but I find that it's tough to judge how long some puzzles will take to figure out. How do you determine when the game is liong enough during the design phase?

Heh, QfG IV has all that, plus very good voice acting and an eerie setting/mood. And yeah, I liked QFG V too, it was a good game.

That's true and QG4 is my second favorite in the series but the original started it all and contained that quintessential element which was "to be a hero". By the time QG4 came around you were a seasoned adventurer. In the first one you were still the underdog...  :)

Mine would be:

1. Quest for Glory I
I'm surprised that so few posters have listed any of the Quest for Glory games. While I like them all (even Dragon Fire) the first one is my favorite. It had that classic fantasy setting (forest, small town, castle) but you could play as 1 of 3 classes. The multiple solutions to puzzles depending on your class was great and (aside from the candleabra puzzle in the Brigand camp) the whole game had a nice flow. Throw in great characters like Erasmus and Baba Yaga and you have a classic.

2. Secret of Monkey Island
This probably only comes in second because I played it after QG1 and the graphic style was a little less immersive. This game was and still is incredible...

3. Gabriel Knight
This game was great because of the story and the moral ambiguity of the central character. Probably the first game I ever played that I would have enjoyed without the great graphics.
