Did I change it too much?

No, it's quite alright.

hmmm I hope this still counts as the refection doesnt fit the outline.

No worries, that counts. And it's a pretty impressive entry I may add. Didn't think of such a scenery myself, but I hoped that creativity would make this theme interesting.

If you emulate windows on your mac you should be able to use the Editor.

Sorry for letting you wait so long. Here it is.

Do whatever you want with it, it doesn't have to be a Totem.

- You can resize and rotate it
- You can draw both outside and inside the outline.
- No color limit
- You can even slightly change the outline but keep it recognizable.

Yeah, sorry. I think I'll start one tomorrow. Haven't thought of a shape yet...

1st backgound:

Looks good. It isn't really a useful view but it could be, if most of those buildings could be entered by the character or if it would be a cutscene. But I think the street is taking away too much space. You should either make the sidewalk larger or add a pedestrian refuge island. And try to make the buildings look a bit different (not only in terms of color).

But if it really takes you "forever" to make such a background than it's probably not the right thing for you.

2nd background:

It's a bit too simple for my taste, especially the trees green area (is it called leaf?). Some shading and some more colors would help. But since it's only a cutscene image I can't say if you should use that in your game. You should show us an in-game background in that style.

Quote from: Nacho on Tue 01/07/2008 07:12:56everything is in layers, so, it shouldn' t be easy to make those changes.

Shouldn't be too hard is what you wanted to say, right?

You've set the game's default color depth to 32-bit. Are you sure you've saved the backgound image in 32-bit?

..though I don't know if this is necessary..

I don't understand what your problem is, but to make it easy:

1. Upload a picture here: http://www.2dadventure.com/ags/upload/upload.html

2. Use [img ]http://somesite/image.gif[ /img] (without the spacings)

Edit: Ah, I see. There is a thing called "Scrollbar". Below these three alternatives is the "SMF Bulletin Board Code" with a table of the codes you need. An this is a thread dealing with screenshots: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=6297.0

It's not too bad (esp. for an first attempt).

But as you said: The fully raised knee frame is a bit weird, because the character does make really small steps and doesn't really raise the legs. It seems like one frame is missing at the end.

This will show you what I mean. The second frame (=the stretched leg) is the one that's missing in your cycle.

By the way, reminds me a lot of "Der verschwundene Husky":

But since there is no english translation for the game I guess you haven't played it..

Well, I think it's not bad. But you should use some more colors and add some shading and details. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense to use such a high resolution for it would be a waste of available space.

But animations really are a tough thing to do in high res, I know that from my own game..

You're welcome, it doesn't solve this issue though:
Quote from: matti on Sun 29/06/2008 14:15:02But I don't want the items to be clickable when the cursor is actually between them.

It should be possible to put another GUI above the inventory; its background image set to rectangles that cover the gaps. Make it clickable but don't react to the click.

Hey, that's a pretty good idea.

Quote from: KhrisMUC on Sun 29/06/2008 15:45:03I'd increase the sprite size while keeping the item in its center.

D'oh!

Thanks, Khris. I don't know why I didn't think of that.

Good news and some words in my first post.

For I don't want to spoil too much I'm just posting already-known locations.

I want to make the environment a bit alive so that the player doesn't think he's walking through a ghost town. So the first thing I did was letting some cars drive through the background. Some citizens might follow. And I've redrawn the photographed items, Ben  ;):

Is there a way to set a space between inventory items?

I searched around and the only solution I could find is to increase the itemsize, which I'm already doing. But I don't want the items to be clickable when the cursor is actually between them. The main problem is that the last item on the right side is clickable when the cursor isn't over the inventory anymore but a bit on the right of it.

Or is there a way to let the items just be clickable when the cusor is over the sprite and not within the itemwidth and -heights? That would be okay too.

I can't help you there either.
Somehow I get the feeling .NET isn't very well programmed - I had a similar problem where there were some DLL's not installed or maybe removed when I uninstalled some other program.

If you have a way to backup your data I certainly recommend reinstalling windows. I do it twice a year, you can always notice it runs faster.

Ha, good thing I didn't reinstall windows (which would've been a lot of trouble). I finally got it working again.

After going through 10-20 forums dealing with that dll-issues I found ONE useful answer which immediately solved the problem. It was rediculously easy: I just had to rename the windows/assembly folder in whatever I want to. It was a problem with registration keys or something similar, but I'm not familiar with those kind of problems and don't really know what went wrong.

But whatever, .NET Framework installed properly and I can finally go back to work with the editor.  ;D

Ah, but what you fail to realize, Matti, is that if nobody owns guns, and the criminals DO own guns, they will have run of the place, so to speak.

The common people don't buy guns with the intention to murder, they buy them with the intention to defend themselves from those who DO plan to hurt.  Taking that right away just disarms people who want protection, and doesn't stop criminals from getting ahold of guns.  They WILL obtain firearms no matter what, and when the common man is defenseless, the lawbreakers would be able to rape and pillage, as long as they're quick enough to avoid the arrival of the police.

Nah, I don't fail to realize that, but that's how it is. In Germany the very minority owns a gun, in fact I never came across someone who does or even wants to. Does this make Germany less safe? Not at all. I dare to state that this circumstance makes it safer. More guns = less safety.

Like I said before: I'm more afraid of an armed population than of some guys somewhere who get their guns illegally. And where do murderers and thieves come from? Not from hell but straight outta society. If everyone was given a gun, more people would consider robbery or murder I'm afraid.

Seriously though, while as Nacho states the situation really isn't a binary yes/no, I do believe that guns are too easily available in the US and that this causes numerous problems. Michael Moore may be an extremist in the other direction, but some of his points are good.

Forget Moore and his elevated "documentaries", bus his message is still right.

I think allowing every citizen to have a gun is much more dangerous than having no gun against few criminals that are getting their guns illegally. And who would shoot a thief that wants to rob you? Do you really need a gun in your house, just for the possible event that one time a guy might want to harm you? I'd be much more afraid that a lunatic runs berserc or a child accidently shoots me with his parent's gun (just because everyone can get one) than to be "defenseless" in case of being robbed or threatened by someone.

Plus the f***ing weapon corporations should not be supported..
