Woo! Okay, I'm well aware it's been MONTHS since I started on this: And the fact is: I have not been working on it. Yep, it's been pretty much done since forever ago, but I've been awaiting Voice-Acting/Music for some time. I've also been busy with my new job working in a factory (Messy work, but somebody's got to do it.).

The only reason I haven't put the game up is because the way I did the ending just doesn't work without voices. So, I'm considering re-working that so I can just put the darn thing up!

However, if I wait just a bit more, well odds are I'll have everything I need to finish it as intended! In fact, I have been receiving voices, and now have the music in-game!

A sample of the voices can be found here:

http://migoart.com/about/the-game/silver-brand/characters/

I'm not going to leave this unfinished, and everyone is still on-board!

Thanks everyone. :)

Hahaha! Love it! The Voices are great, and the addition of the awesome cast picture is just downright classy. :)

Update: I have a composer and have been contacted by quite a few Voice Actors! Presently, I am awaiting the music and deciding on who fits what character best. If you still want to help out with the Voice Acting, feel free to send me a message!

Thanks again everyone! :)

Yep! Unfortunately this is the crap time of year for my field (tax accountant) as the majority of late filers have come and gone, and my next payload is pretty much designated towards my last horrifying charge bill. (This wouldn't be the case if grad school wasn't sucking all of my time, money, and will to live. 6 more months til freedom!!!)

When dough is bit more plentiful I want to shop around for a USB mic and see what I can find then get some tips in terms of recording/editing software (read: what's free/cheap, and pretty easy to use.)

Silver sounds like the perfect part for someone like me since I have a deep and clear voice (read: "sultry"), and I could definitely be described as wise and perverse!

VertigoAddict- holy crap you sound more like a woman than I do! That's some serious talent there!

I'm still missing some girls actually, so if you get a mic soon, send something my way! Preferably during this week, since things are moving pretty fast. :)

Wahey, actually, now I do have an online portfolio-type thing! It was good that you asked for one, I should've set one up earlier. So, without further ado:

http://www.myspace.com/shivermesideways

All of it on there is made on a PC with programs, but I can actually record acoustic and electric guitars, I just haven't done it yet, but if that's what you want, it can be done.

If you're still not convinced, then you could PM me details about a song you'd want and I'll scrounge up a demo. :)

Holy Crap. You guys are some talented musicians!

I checked out your music, and really loved the sound you've got going on. Right now I'm going for a more medieval feel, but you're definitely the man for something more futuristic! I'll definitely keep that in mind! :)

Sexy elves in space, eh?  Sure, link me when it's ready. :)

You make it sound so... so... Dirty!

...

Eh, perhaps you're right. xD

Well, I took your all's advice and tried just still portraits. Unfortunately, we found in testing the game that the lack of animation kind of... somehow... killed all the funny of the jokes, and made every little bit of dialogue seem like a test of patience. So, I went back and am Animating several different expressions for each. Lots more work than I intended for a simple game, but... well, it's fun to do! (I'd try to do Lip-Syncing again, but well... my game is supposed to be a little silly anyway! Thank Goodness.)

Oh, and one of my animations for the game got entirely corrupted. Luckily, I back up all my stuff... unluckily, I had done a lot of work after said backup!

Doesn't matter though: We found a new game-breaking glitch, which we fixed! (We, being Girlfriend and I, who tests all my stuff!)

Finally: I just need to animate the ending, give a few more days for composers and Voice Actors to e-mail me and then I can figure out how to actually put the voices in alongside the dialogue, input the new music, input an animated ending, revise any dialogue and then... Finalize it! Yee haw!

Note: I haven't e-mailed any composers or Voice Actors yet, since I was just giving people a couple of days to e-mail me to begin with!

Everyone seems to like either setting this on the beginning of July or August. I'm gonna go with August for now, though I'd like to hear thoughts on that.

PERFECTO! This looks like fun! August is a good date for myself, for uh... personal reasons. D8

However! It might be the sugar talking, but as of now, I'm totally going to be in! God only knows what shall come of this.

But that's half the fun!

Yeah... I mean, I can meet my art deadlines usually. Except for the animations, since I'm a total amateur when it comes to those!

But just today, before work, I managed to extend the episode, redraw some portraits, edit most of the dialogue, take apart my motorcycle to put new brakes on, realize my brakes were not the problem, find and fix the problem, then reassemble my bike! So, all-in-all, a productive day!

Now I'm stuck with a dilllema you might have an opinion on: To have animated portraits or not to have animated portraits. As is, they are animated, but my new portraits are more my style, and. I have not animated them yet. If I don't animate them, I could create a broader range of emotions! Hrm....

Some lines for each character:

Ta'Meryl - "We don't even bleed our own servants anymore...", "AND my hands are way prettier.", "So, no."

Kerra - "I'm totally sorry dear, but you've reached my message telling you I'm not at the phone right now."

Snickers - "I ask with sincere politarity, because I'd like to know on what grounds I'm about to reammarange your face."

Trevor - "Uhhh... This Trevor 'he not here' message... uh... TREVOR BORED! YOU CALL BACK! *CLICK!*"

Chuckles - *Hiding in a box* "Begone! Elven Temptress!"

Dungeon Dan - "Yep. This is Dan. Name's Dan."

@Vertigoaddict - AhH! I was actually surprised at how well you do a woman's voice. Do you have any sound bytes of you doing a man's voice as well? I'm curious to see how that might sound to see if it fits anyone.

@FamousAdventurer77 - Orly? xD If you get a-hold of any kind of recording equipment anytime soon, feel free to link a sound byte! Even if it's too late for this project (It isn't as of this post), then I could probably still use you for future ones. Heck, someone else might listen in and want to contact you as well!

@ShiverMeSideways - Have any kind of portfolio page where I can listen to one or two? I haven't played the TechnoBabylon series yet, or Hard Space and Operation Forklift. I do know that means I'm missing out, but I've gotta spend my time adding a cinema into the game that I had been wanting to today.

Argh! You make it sound so horrible! I leave this post wounded. But yeah, I totally want to polish it up!
#11
Wow. I am being absolutely floored by how helpful you guys are. Seriously, in my experience, most succesfull or semi-succesfull game designers and artists have been prickish and downright rude. Even when I'm only asking for advice, let-alone help!

Thanks so much for the post Dave! At present, I'm at work so I can't pull anything up, but honestly, only Silver and Ta'Meryl have any decent amount of lines. The rest of the ladies will be recurring characters in the future. So, the ony problem I may run into is: If they did help me out, I'm guessing I wouldn't be able to re-use them in my follow-up side project (for the same characters) without paying them.

The only thing I could offer to help you out are my artistic services. :)
#12
Yeah. I knew my schedule was botched when my initial composer fell through, so instead of mixing and matching free music I find online (like from Newgrounds), I feel the project will benefit from a single musician. That, and I can use the extra time to put in all those little changes I'd like to see! :)
#13
Well, cool beans. I'm only working on a Mini-Adventure right now, that I don't plan to sell, but your most recent game is the one that inspired me to change how I did my own portraits.

http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/yabb/index.php?topic=43497.0

In the future I will be making a longer one to sell however! Feel free to check the Synopsis for the idea here:

http://migoart.com/about/the-game/

I'd have released the first game already, but ran into some musical and time issues. It looks like I'll be getting past the music issue though, which is awesome! I'll link you the file just before completion, just so you can decide if it's the type of game you'd like to publish. :)

Thank you sir! This is very much appreciated! :)

What I'd LIKE
- Female Voice Actress (4)

Ta'Meryl (Protagonist)
(Silly, Bubbly, Stuck-Up, Sexy);

Kerra (Future Protagonist)
(Confident, Fun, Mature, Hopeful);

The Maid (The Cute/Vengeful Servant)
(Quiet, Plotting, Reserved);
Silver (Mystical Woman)
(Sultry, Wise, Perverse, Extrovert);

- Male Voice Actor (4)

Snickers (The Gangster Gopher)
(Tough, Intellimagent, Decisive, Thoughtful Individimawal);

Chuckles (The Smart Gangster Gopher)
(Paranoid, Intelligent, Skiddish);

Dungeon Dan (A Teenage Stoner)
(Bored, Stoned, Bored, Stoned);

Trevor (The Powerful Half-Troll)
(Powerful, Insensitive, Thoughtful);

What I NEED:
- A Composer
     The game needs 3-4 good tunes.
(Ta'Meryl's Theme, Story of a War, The Powerful Silver Brand, The Metal Graveyard)

My Current Project: SILVER BRAND, is a Fantasy/Sci-Fi Adventure that follows the tales of Princess Ta'Meryl Fawx in a Fantasy world that was once the incidental battlefield for an interstellar war... and unless something is done may yet be again.

STORY: While out scavenging in the forbidden epicenter of the “Metal Graveyard”, Princess Ta’Meryl Fawx is separated from her friends and protectors. On her own, she finds herself trapped in an ancient Sky Carrier, which still shows the battle-scars of a conflict already hundreds of years past. With no food, no protection and nobody to do the thinking or fanning for her, the young Princess may soon find an even more forbidden shiny thing or two, which could alter her own destiny… forever!

As a labour of love, the project is being released for free! So I don't expect to be paid or to pay anyone else to help out. However, I do intend to do a larger project (To sell) in the future using the same characters/universe, and would expect to use and then pay any voice-actors/composers for THAT work that are willing to help out before such a time comes.

Basically: I'd feel more comfortable hiring people that I've already worked with, and have helped me in the past. :)

Feel free to PM me, or e-mail me at: Migogo@Live.com

Wow! So, that's all six weeks. I've done just about everything that needs to be done... except there are presently two issues keeping me from just going ahead and releasing it: The guy that was helping me do the music has been too busy to actually make me any music, and I spent the last two weekends hanging out with my girlfriend and family (Since my GF was leaving for the entirety of this week, and soon for almost an entire year!

So, my ending animation is not complete!

However, to show just how much I've gotten done, without "giving too much away", here are a dozen or so screenies:

OPENING ANIMATION:

ANIMATION 02

IN-GAME:

So the sad fact is: I may need another week to find some good music, or just plain find a new composer, animate the ending and another scene I'd just LIKE to put in to help move the story forward.

And with that... I'll probably need to go put in a request for composition help won't I?

(BTW If anyone knows WHERE I am supposed to ask for music help, or could just help with the music, let me know!)

Any questions? :)

Unfortunately, I'm having to postpone the Game's release for a maximum of 2 more weeks. The animating is taking all of my time away from adding the music and sound effects! Without the 3, the game feels like it would come out pretty lame next to what it CAN be.

Do note: I will also be taking the time to work on how I make the next game, since this one starts out more puzzle-centric... which is a personal peeve of mine that I fell into due to the necessity of PRACTICE! I needed to know I could program almost everything I need to later... and now I know.

I'll update with animation snippets later, and some new screenshots since I revised all of the backgrounds. (There are 5 in the mini-Adventure.).

Ciao! And thanks!

I actually love the style you're using here. Especially how it all meshes. (The angle for the van is dynamic!)

Also noticed the little blue mug in the grass. :P

I shall be looking forward to this as well!

Wow, this is getting better :P

But on a serious note, I like robots and elves, and the art style seems to be very influenced by animes, which is nice. I cross my fingers hoping this will be as a awesome as I expect it to.  :D

Thank you! Actually, I'd say I'm mostly in love with the art style found in DANGER GIRL. Although yeah, I was influenced by anime at one time.

UPDATE:
PRIMARY PUZZLES PROGRAMMED
FIRST TWO SCREENS COMPLETED

TESTED
TESTED
RETESTED

New Portraits!

And now I have 2 more rooms to do!

So, off to sleep I go! CIAO!

Thanks a lot you guys. Going with what you all have said, I continued and made another character's portrait in the same style. I should note, both portraits are already animated and in-game.

As for the watermark, I actually put it pertaining to the character. She actually is an earlier creation, while yeah, I totally did the portrait yesterday. xD
