here it is the tutorial... every piece of text is about the next guy on the picture... so alinea 1 about the first guy...etc

1. CONTACT
For convenience, the contact pose at frame 0 is already keyframed. This will give you a head start. Notice the foot positions. As you enter each pose pay great attention to the positions of the feet. If they are off at all, your character will appear to float, thus breaking the illusion of life.

2. RECOIL
On the recoil pose, weight is being shifted to the stepping foot. The stepping foot becomes planted on the ground while the rear foot begins to lift off the ground.

3. LIFT
During the lift pose the character begins to push himself up using his planted foot. The waist lifts upward slightly, and the rear foot begins to come forward as it begins the next step.

4. HIGHPOINT
This is the first high point of the walk cycle. The character reaches the highest point in his walk. In this pose, his waist will rise as his rear leg passes the planted left leg.

5. RISING
During the rising pose, the rear leg now becomes the front stepping leg. The character's body lowers slightly as the rear leg is lowering the body into the next step.

6. CONTACT
Now the walk cycle enters a contact pose. This is basically the same contact pose as the first one; however the right leg is now stepping on the ground as the left leg begins to lift.

7. RECOIL
This is the second recoil pose in the walk cycle. The weight is being shifted to Right foot. The right foot becomes planted on the ground while the left foot begins to lift off the ground.

8. LIFT
During the lift pose, the character begins to push itself up using its planted right foot. The waist lifts upward slightly, and the left foot begins to come forward as it begins the next step.

9. HIGHPOINT
This is the second high point of the walk cycle. The character reaches the highest point in his walk cycle. In this pose, his waist will rise as his left leg passes the planted right leg.

10. RISING
During the rising pose, the left leg becomes the front stepping leg. The character's body lowers slightly as the right leg moves into the next step.

11. CONTACT
This contact pose is the same as the first contact pose in the walk cycle. This is the point at which the loop begins.

So this is just to show you how to animate in actually 10 pictures a very nice animation of walking ;) I hope this will help you!

that hand just looks fine, but it would be even better for a main char. to have open hand! ;) though you made it look good!

I guess by myself.. I'm always thinking alot, and I can release it all in my adventures... i do not have a real INFLUENCE, although I did liked the games of lucasart
#1367
Yes, it would be a good main character, if he could do his arms out of his pockets ;D!

Well, you did this pretty good, the result is very nice, and to animate you have to learn something about the walk of a human, im right now making ripping an tutorial for you, from the help file of my 3dstudiomax, wich explains this. Ill be posting this very soon... hang on! ;)

Thanks for the advice Minimi,
I may just take you up on your kind offer :)

At the moment working on some game ideas while I am downloading some art programs.

I have fireworks MX and photoshop but never used them <scared the hell out of me when i saw the interface :) >

so going to start off with an easier to use art program....
I suggest you start your drawings with simple MSPAINT. That's where most of us started, (im drawing still in paint ;) ) and from there, when you are using 8x size, to make pixel by pixel cool arts or something, start using paint shop pro, if you are new to graphics. Starting with photoshop or fireworks, is a bit too high, for a start. You can try it, and do some tutorials, but that will cost you also lot of time.

It's just a matter of what you want look I made this in mspaint

To me it doesn't look any worse, and it only took me couple of minutes. And because I made all my drawings for that particular game in mspaint, it's all fine. So just start small, and you'll grow faster then you'll know, if you enjoy painting, you will soon want more than mspaint, and the start using psp, i mentioned that earlier.

Well, I hope your gonna get the painting-mojo very quick!  :D

PS: I'm drawing also alot in 3D programs, if you like that.. but that is something more advanced!

Well, im downloading.. and if he's gonna charge some bucks.. im willing to pay it.. cause this game is really worth it!

One question : With what are you drawing? pencill, pen, black inkt or blue... or with a fineliner? And what is your scanner? Cause I am planning on buying one, so what is a good choice?

Welcome misterx!

I'm also pretty new to it, but I can draw.. and already understand most of the basics of AGS editor and script, so if you need some art to practice with, just call some things you want in a private message to me, and ill draw it for you, and you can practice with it.

I advice you to start with the beginnerstutorial :

http://www.agsforums.com/acintro.htm

If you worked that through, you must already have a clear vision on the things an adventure game is about, and what you need for making it! GL and lots of fun with AGS!

I was thinking... wouldn't it be handy to give a name to all your sprites in the sprite manager? Because if I'm animating I can't see always very clearly the difference between pictures... So if I could just give it a name, or a popup text, with its name. it would be of great help.

Maybee an idea for the new update of AGS?

Critics' Lounge / Re:Concept Idea "Room no 5"
Thu 10/07/2003 21:27:01
It's a great idea, I like it very much!  8)

For instance, you can make more rooms, like you said it could be in different universes at the same time, so you could make it, that you can change whenever you want to another universe, and you must solve everything in all over the universes, in the right way... so that makes it pretty confusing, though a strong story!

I hope this helps you a bit!
#1378
It's everything together.. the whole atmosphere. You must forget that you play a game, and get involved in the story.
Here is my top3 adventure games ever.

1. The Longest Journey
2. Kings Quest 7
3. Amerzone
