General Discussion / Re: 3D Violence Engine

I'm using for 3d games DarkBasic Professional. It's based on BASIC language. But blender is ofcourse free, wich would be a good choice also! For free 3d modelling I suggest Wings3D, bytheway  ;) http://www.wings3d.com

wish you all the best with your game!

Hello everyone! I haven't been around for a long time, because of my school. The school is even above my expectations. For those that don't know, I'm on a fulltime childrenworker-trainingschool of 1 year.

There are 15 students in the class, and we are on the second floor of the church. We live together with 20 bibleschool students of "History Makers".

These first weeks were all about cleaning yourself from your past, and getting to know eachother better. We have done alot of childrengames together, to play with them when we work in situations like (street/aids/war...children).
For 3 days we got teached by a proffesional clown, in lessons of balloons, clownerie, and studies about what a clown is. I can now make several cool balloon things like : dog/flower/giraffe/helicopter).

Also we've been learning to pray and seek God alot, and laughing/crying together. It's such a wonderful school. Finally I'm learning to get also discipline. Like going to bed at 11pm, and up in the morning 6am. I'm cleaning the toilets each day, and I've learned to be thankful for these things.

Well... ofcourse there are alot more things to tell, but that's just too much! :) 1 thing is certain. I'm going to work with children around the age of 6, and begin schools and do lots of cool stuff in my life :)

PS : I'm still using AGS, and I will use it for making some games for little children. So I still wander around here now, and then...

Take care all, and keep up the good work!

Thanks for your elaboration hollister man. I have though considered all these things.

About Poser. Poser was $199, wich was alot of money, and to think I also bought Bryce5 already wich was at the time $99, that was just about enough for me. I think maya is something like $1500 and lightwave $600 if I'm right?! Well that's what I mean with too much money!

The billiard pack is $14.00 and on sale for $12.60
It's still in pending period, so not yet available.

It's my first product until now! I'm curious to the saleresults.
In a few days I'll finish the chesspack too!

Hi thanks for your comments.

Maybe it's just my uber-light screen, because it's not too dark to me, but as these are the promotion pictures, I might consider lighten them abit.

JRL2222 : The models are modelled with Wings3D 0.98.23a, textured with TheGimp, and rendered in Poser5. TheGimp and Wings3D are both freeware. I haven't got enough money for these expensive applications! But I heard people saying wings is better than 3dmax! :p

Darth Mandarb : I know about the balls. They have 1024x1024 texture maps, and I thought it was a wee bit ridiculous to use 2048x2048 for the balls. Also, it might be because of the JPEG conversion...

PS : Here are some pictures of the new product I'm working on :

Chess Megapack

I probably made this last picture of the chessclock also too dark, according to your opinions ;)

Hi there. I haven't posted in ages... and lately have been working non-stop on modelling. I want to show you my finished work on a Billiardpack I was making. Feel free to give critics or comments ;)

*just as a note, it's a commercial product, aimed at Poser users!

The Rumpus Room / Re: How did you find AGS?
Tue 17/08/2004 00:05:22
At a certain moment in my life, precisely 28th of April 2003, I wondered weither there would be any freeware point&click adventures around, after I finished Jack Orlando.

I searched for it... and finally somehow came onto the AGS site! I was like amazed! I told all my friends about it...so I told no one! ;)  hehe...

so CJ, what you say, is that I can't comment on an obvious n00b game, with lousy graphics and 2000planned rooms, that it just plainly stinks?

Should I lie about it, and tell him/her that it just gonna be a great game? Is that like for the "greater good"?

I think we should make the GiP thread only post-enabled for members longer than 3 months or something. That way you don't get these things...(figuring n00bs disappear at a 3 months range)...

aah well...maybe im heading too far, as there are kids of 11 years trying to make their first game. I just get kinda frustrated seeing people post their games when they have only a plain story and 2 or 3 rooms, mostly not even scripted.

Bunch of "PotatoMcFlurry's"....aarghh...

Ouch... DG still here??  ::)

Wings is even better than 3dmax! :P here's an image of a boat I modelled for the TeamGame, wich never got finished...

It's untextured though...but you can simple texture it with an uv-map!

but afterall, it's just personal preference on the interface.

Now THAT, Andail, is exactly what I mean! I can say amen to that! No hyping, but discussing. It's just stupid that other people are so defensive on critics...

General Discussion / Re: Athens 2004

I really don't care about the olympics.... and I got pretty annoyed a few hours ago, because some people in the neighbourhood fired fireworks! Grrr... I'm tired, and don't need bangs to celebrate some stupid olympic games, with all athletes I never met in real... I mean who cares.... in 1 year I would care less who won or lost, so I guess I'm not interested.

I think this olympic will pass me just like the tour the france. I turned on the tv, to check the tour the france, and I was amazed by the guy on the tv, telling me it was over and that guy, of wich i forgot the name won....

only thing I'm forced to watch is soccer things... because other people go crazy about it, and I'm forced to watch too.... and here I'm talking about emotional manipulation! ;)

argh... nevermind....

I have this problem with the In Production thread. It seems like, it's kinda forbidden to give constructive criticism about games. I mean, like I want to say that a game sucks... but instead of that, I'll say "good effort, good luck one, keep up the good work", or something similiar.

So what I mean is, that it feels like there is some kind of mood like "Don't get to harsh on a game...because the creator is doing so much his/her best".

I think that just sucks. If I'm trying really hard making a game, and I come up with a lame story, stupid graphics with standard photoshop layers, gradients and lame animations.... and in reply to that, everyone tells me it's great im working on the game, and they are looking forward to it.... then I'm working my butt of, though actually being in a big glimps, not realizing, my audience won't even take effort to download/play it.

In short terms, I'd like to ask you to lighten up abit, and if I'm wrong here, tell me also. I just think that's it's good to be honest to eachother, because compliments are only to get yourself a good feeling, but critics are really handy for a creator.

Well... until I got some good answer, I'll continue for most part (unless where I really can't bear the view), wandering around without giving any comment.
