Ok, I'm from The Netherlands, so it's not my first language, but here is a version, that's probably better ;) Nice poem bytheway... try this :

Longer you can not live,
and there's not other way to go
What is lost you can not give
or take it back to life and show.

...still, I think the poem is too much written to sound like it HAS to rhyme. Try to avoid this. Here is my little poem, that you'll get to see at the end of my game Ralph the Raven.

A few days later he flew away,
to another forest, to another day
If you want to see him fly
just turn your head up to the sky
and wave Ralph the Raven a goodbye!

Ok, I'm now using Wings3D for a few days, and this is what I think is the best I made untill now, because it's a very easy to learn program!! :

The best is .... It's totally FREE! http://www.wings3d.com !
I'm very excited about this program, and if you follow the manual of only 130 pages, then you'll know pretty well how to model with it :)

(im at page 84 ;)!)

I hope this helps you out!

I made 2 new models, wich I think look pretty cool :) I'm starting to get the hang of it :)

Here are some chesspieces I made in Wings3D, and rendered again in Bryce5. This time own custom textures :)

What do you think of these?

I think it will come, if this world carries on for 100 years. I don't think This world is gonna last, in shape it is in, for the next hundred years, because of the rapture.

But if you do not believe in that, and it wouldn't excist, then yes, this world is going to be in a few hundred years ice age.

PS: I've seen the movie too, and it sucked! Just making a movie with some nice effects, doesn't make it a good movie! I think this movie will disappear real quickly.

I didn't really wanted to reply, but now that foz did, I'm going to also.
In first I'm glad we both won, I actually expected coup de cup to win ;)

Second, I hoped for the rules setting, because I had some cool rules i.m.o. inmind, and I guess Foz and Jaz too. I don't like these rules either, but couldn't we just set the rules for next month, because this is a special month?

Greets,

Goto "GUIs", and click the edit script. In that script you see somewhere written the phrases between "", like "Graphics : Johnny Odd" ... so just change the text between there.

Bytheway, you do not HAVE to resize your backgrounds. You could also make that the GUI is hidden, and when the mouse is on the bottom, it pops up. I'll see if I can edit this, and private message you about it ;)

Well, you can import *.3ds in Wings3D. You can then just select the faces, and assign a specific material colour to it. Then deselect with spacebar, and select other faces, and do it again. The different material groups, specify, wich groups it exports to the Wavefront, or 3DS file.

So, for good render result you really need another program, from what I know till now (not trough all 135pages yet!), and render it in there, to assign better materials, lighting/shadows, background.

I'm going to use Wings3D for modelling models for a 3D Game, I have in mind, wich I'm going to make with DarkBasic.

If I could find 3dsmax somewhere cheap, then I'd really buy it, because I know it's way better, and the leading application.  ::)
#330
Yes, that's exactly how it works. I know that 3dmax is much harder, but also too expensive for me, and Wings3D is freeware, and open source! So this is a real outcome to me! And I also know that the way I rendered it in Bryce was very lame! I'm much better than that, and wrote tutorials for Bryce on my website ;) I was just eager to test it out :P

Only the doghouse is made with Wings3D!

I imported my model, into Bryce5. Tree's are pretty standard, and easy to create, with the tree-lab. The textures are all standard, and nothing custom, and the material on the ground, is made by my own photo, of my backyarden, but I choosed random, so it's fuzzed.

So basically... a very quick render, without much attention... It's just that I modelled the doghouse ;) Wings3D, does not allow textures, but only single colours. This is what it looks like in Wings3D

I'm pretty sure, I'm going for the DarkBasic! It looks pretty promising, and I know already Visual Basic, so it shouldn't be that hard to learn! It's only $90 the proffesional edition, so I'm going to loan some money and order it! Thanks alot eric!

Critics' Lounge / My first model with Wings3D!
Wed 02/06/2004 23:46:06

My first modelled object with Wings3D! Rendered in CorelBryce5.
It's not a fantastic render, I know, I'm learning Wings3D, and this took me a couple of hours...

It's made along the tutorial, but I'm just proud that I managed to make it, and excited about future modelling of me :)

tell me what you think of it!

It's cool to here someone is going to use my GUI in his game! It's good ofcourse... with credit ;) Here is some things that could help you out!

- The only problem I can think of, is that you are using 320x200 resolution. I made this one for 320x240, so it appears at 200 till 240. If you want to show it, set the Y-position of 0:WOODGUI, to "160"!

furthermore, you could just delete 2:INTRO if you have no use of it.
and also, if you don't want to show the gui at a certain point, type as action

GUIOff(0);

or...
GUIOn(0);

Good luck with your game!

Great first work, Legge! Just take some more time for detail. I did a quick edit for you, and I'll show you step by step, what I did! I hope this is helpful!

1
This is the character as you drawed it. The head is like a block, and the shoulders are above the head. He got no room for is "weewee" in his pants, and his shoes are clumbs. Now don't take this the wrong way. It's just for lesson. When you take some more time for it, you get much better and better. I'm also a newbie bytheway :p
2
First thing I did, was opening your picture in GraphicsGale, and zooming to 500%! Then I took the pencil, and pixel by pixel, I removed some of the hair, to make it less of a block. Then I removed some pixel of the underhead, near the shoulders, because it was to wide. I edited the mouth, by placing it in the center, and removing a few pixels. Then I added a nose to the head, with alittle darker colour than the skincolour.
3
The shoulders were too high, and I removed some of the pixel there, until they were at same height as the chin. (they should be even alittle lower!) Then I made the arms more clearly, by removing a few pixels between the belly and the arm, as you can see. To clarify the arm width, I drawed with a dark colour the arm lines. I also made a 2pixel thig line, for the belt.
4
I added some blue pixels, of the jeans, for space for his "weewee". Then I added a few pixels, on the legs to clarify the knees, and in the inner lines of the leg, i removed some, to make it look like he is bending the knee alittle.
5
Finally I cleared op the shoes, by removing a few pixels, and adding 2 pixels, on the top of the shoe, over the jeans. (you could also add more detail to the shoes!)

Well, that was my short tutorial! It's not perfect, but I hope you get to a better result now! Keep in mind, that drawing takes up some time! That example character, took me 10 hours to animate! :o (first time for me!). So don't be affraid of making mistakes. You can just do ctrl+z, to undo, and press the right mouse button, on a colour on your picture to change to that colour, within GraphicsGale!

I'm looking forward to your next drawing! Keep up the good work!

use the tutorial of Eric, at : http://www.sylpher.com/kafka/

there are some pretty nice tutorials. Als you could simply study the anatomy of a human being, and look up some pictures of people on photo's with google. Then try to draw over the photo, and when your happy, take your drawing as an example for a better improvement. Then try adding shades, and detail, and post it here, so we can give you help, and learn you to improve your drawings.

Try using the program GraphicsGale. It allows you to make drawings with simple tools, and zooming at more than 4000% !!
This is the character I drawed with Graphics Gale :

You can use it if you want, for guidelines.
Download GraphicsGale at : http://www.tempest-j.com/e/gale/
Then save this picture, by right click/ save as...
... and open it with GraphicsGale.
Then make a new layer, this means, like a drawing over a drawing, so you won't erase the original, just going over it. Now zoom in till the image fills your whole screen, and pixel by pixel, you change the character, to your own feeling.

Hope this helps...!

I myself am a hardcore Bryce user, but I want to dig something deeper into the modelling part. I bought Bryce 2 years ago, and I could say that I know pretty much everything of it.

Now that I don't have much money, I came onto Wing3D. wich is a free modelling program. From the first moment I was enthousiastic about it, so I'm learning it.

I have always wanted to make of my character Pimmy Pencil, a 3D game. Till now I got this far with CorelBryce5 :

or for full size : http://minimi.spijbelaars.com/cactus1024x768.jpg
But I'm not very happy about the result, because Bryce limits me pretty much!

So I want to model it in 3D with Wing3D, and then use it in a game.

What application can I best use for that?
I want a cheap program, wich allows 3rd person, and 3ds, or wavefront models. I want to be able to make a commercial game with it.
2 engines are falling away already
- Blender -> because when I leave the program the buttons disappear and it crashes all the time(maybe someone got a patch for this?)
- 3D Gamestudio way too expensive![/b]

Please give me some info on 3Dgame-development applications, so I can choose one to buy, or use, if it's freeware ;)

It's not too dark i.m.o. It's perfect! Leave it! Just fix the black, and white door, with more detail, and you'll be finished!

Ok stop it DGmacphee...

I posted these resources simply for the reason SSH already mentioned. Publicity. Yes, I do have my own website... but not many people go there, and still there are new members who want some useful stuff to use. So I followed the example of junc.
Sorry, if I gave anyone the wrong impression with this, but it's in no way my intension to bore you, with useless threads. I really think this could be helpful to someone new.
