General Discussion / Re: Best chat up lines
Mon 11/02/2008 17:08:34
Aah yes, smoking does really help, probably one of the reasons I won't quit. Also, on your work/school, there are mostly only a selected people smoking of the group, so you get easy contact, when you are freezing in the cold.

anyway, here are some of the chatup lines I can think of happening in my life. You must though know, that I'm the kinda person who just says what's on his mind, and get's the whole crowd laughing about my jokes... just because they are so bad... hehe :p

She: "Bye bye!"
I: "I love you!"
She: "How much?"
I: "10 bucks"

If she's cool she'll laugh about it, if she can't dig it... you'll be better wearing your StarWars lightsaber, to cut of her arms, cause otherwise you will. and I repeat "YOU WILL DIE"... wich in a weird sence actually happened to me!

hmmm... sorry guys, I'm alittle bit on weed here, and can't think of any other oneliners, ill post em when I do ;)

Thanks for all your comments. I definatley have to study using lights in 3D more and more! I'm going to work on that! I'll try to make the lamps being the lightsource.

About placement of the items... it's not random, I actually thought about it, though I was even more worried about the table infront due to camera's. The table there is actually to fill the room, I wanted to place a TV on it, but I didn't. so that could be a good addition. About the blue couch, hell yeah, I'll make it red! :P

And the guy without shoes... that's supposed to be like that, it really has a reason ;)

I'll be working on some more stuff later, and as soon as I'm finished I'll update you with new backgrounds. I just needed your opinions on these ones, because as you can see, I tend to make mistakes :p

There's some progress on my game, and I wanted to ask for your opinion on the mood/atmosphere of these screenies. The first image is a room-background, on wich a few objects are missing, as those are things to pickup ;) Second image is a frame of a cutscene in a (hopefully) scary basement.

The game will be 800x600, and the black border is held reserved for the GUI

I'm interested in attending! Though it depends on 2 things...

#1 - I need to be sure of the date when it is, so I can ask free from work...

#2 - Still haven't got my drivers license, so I need to find a way to get in alittle cheap way to get to france ;)

But I would seriously like to attend. My french is very bad, because my teacher would only watch cartoons of Asterix & Obelix during lessons at highschool, not I minded back then... :P

Great interview! CJ, I'm promoting you now for several years in Holland, as one of THE heroes from internet, at least your my hero, in a non-homosexual way! You made my time on internet so much more fun for some years of my life, and I'm still enjoying playing adventure games.

The only thing is that when I didn't found out about AGS, i was so thrilled to see a game being released to be point&click, because I've played all of the games I kinda liked... but now I just can't play every game I like, because of so many releases...

actually after 4 years I still haven't finished Pleurghburg game. :o

No it's not david beckham, but now that you say it, hell yeah! it kinda looks like him. He's good looking right?

Yeah his arms... euh, I haven't paid much attention to posing, as it's not that important in these cases, as it's concept, but yeah, I must have twisted them too much here :p OUCH!

I've updated the character's face and this will be his outfit. He's got a tattoo of an ace-card on his chest.

For my new game, I need to know what problems occur in using 800x600 resolution, as it'll feature pre-rendered 3d backgrounds, I need to know weither the game will slow down or not, and if this resolution of 800x600 is fully compatible with AGS. I've used till now only 320x240, but for this game it just need to look alright.

Dear mustardseed in my hand. I put you in the sand, that you may grow. I waited, but you didn't show. I left to see Morpheus forever, my grandson came to you. To take your fruit in his hand, to say: "Grandpa, Thank You!

Hi everyone,

It's been some years that I have been away, but I'm currently working on a new project, of whom I will spill not too much info, untill I have enough of the game finished to start promoting it.

Anyway, at the moment, I'd like to start animating and blending in characters, and for the most characters it's not such a big deal of how they are looking, and what they are wearing, apart from the fact that it fits their personality ofcourse.

But for the main character it's important that it looks quite good, and I've been working for past weeks on this character design. He should have a kinda James Bond look, but slightly more innocent, as he's not really carrying a gun. (though I've posed him here to make him more cool :p)

So the game will be pre-rendered 3d backgrounds, and feature cutscenes, so it's kinda important for me to have my protagonist look excellent.

Now for the question... What do you think of the looks of this character. I'm trying to get rid of the standard poser look, by creating a custom skintexture, and creating some nice clothes. What is your opinion on his looks, and on his clothes. Are they good looking, or should it be more of a black/white outfit?

and yeah... the game has something to do with the gambling world, and no not just about poker, and no, I won't tell you much more about the game, for now.

Thanks for your feedback!

Hey there,

Thanks for all the recommendations! I couldn't really find exactly something like Dreamfall, as I was looking for the 3D look, but then a chasing camera behind a person, or something, dunno what the term is. ;) Anyway...

I found some kinda games that really drew my attention. "Sherlock Holmes versus Arsene Lupin"! I found a review whom gave the game a 55/100 wich convinced me to buy it, lol! They said, it's a game for those that like hard puzzles and like artworks, well, that's me, and I'm so totally sold to it. It's 3D first person view, you can walk around, no boring 360 panorama views , great graphics, great dialogs, and you have to be kinda smart to play the game.

I'd like to recommend right here the developers of this game and the whole series: www.frogwares.com! Frogwares really only releases adventure games, wich is so awesome! Their new game will be released this year called: "Dragula: Origin", wich will be 3D pre-rendered backgrounds, with 3D-shadowed characters. Their sherlock holmes series are fully 3D, and they also have some games like 80 Days, and Journey to the centre of the earth.

I'm just kinda excited that I now know that upon finishing my adventure game, I can prepare myself for a new one, and actually enjoy playing it.

PS: also bought Sinking Island, but haven't yet played it.

Hi there. I bought Dreamfall some while ago, the 3D sequal to The Longest Journey, one of the best newer adventure games i.m.o. ... but anyway,

I really enjoyed Dreamfall, but I like to buy more games alittle bit in the gamestyle of dreamfall, is there something great out there, because I'm not so much informed about latest games. Most important for me, is the story, it should have some mystery to life... I liked in 3D adventure games so far:

LBA2
Dreamfall
Amerzone
Grim Fandango

a game that disappointed me was the latest Broken Sword... well hope you people have some good titles for me! I kinda fell in love with "Zoe" the protagonist of dreamfall :p

Happy newyear everyone. 2007 was my most sucky years of last 4 years i guess...

In 2007, i quit my studies, got seperated from my friends(lived together for few years with 3 other friends in a home), have to work fulltime, just to wait to be able to start with a new university, so I guess that kinda sucks...

It did had have great times, spending time with my friends, had my first real girlfriend, with whom I had sex, lol :p It didn't last that long though, but an experience richer! And probably some other great things that happened but not great enough for me to remember at the moment.

So let's hope this year will do more good to my sucky life :p

look, no need for deep thoughts here, I just rushed this one, and its not promotional, it was more like a "test", and I like my own thoughts so if you think that it's illogic then thats ok, cause that's me :p lol!

I bought some background sets and i did not make the background myself... i placed some objects in Poser, added some lights that felt like fitting the background lighting and rendered it over the background. I do have a feeling of composition and read alot of theory on it, though the beauty of art is that you don't have to follow the rules, they only help you to understand why you make certain choices.

anyway, i probably should have dumped this in the trashbin :p
#58
yeah I know, thanks, I was just alittle overreacting... :) I'll put more effort in my next render, haha!
#59
well, crap on me,,, thats why I never do renders.... and I will never do them again... because I suck at them, ill stick with modelling only :p damn mofo renders!

Made this image to show that you shouldn't strive for lucky moments, because it'll come by surprise. When you strive for it, you won't get it. The blessings of life are a gift, for those that not seek them in an intens way, otherwise they won't be interpreted as gifts, but as rewards for your own works, and that won't bring happiness.

Modelled in Wings3D
Textured in Photoshop CS2
Rendered in Poser 6

Inspired by the movie: The Fountain
