General Discussion / I hate those virusses!
Fri 02/04/2004 10:45:44
I can't start winamp, realplayer, ags, antivirus, icq, msn (crashes after 10min), the gimp, graphicsgale, EXPLORER.EXE!!!!

Aargh, the only thing that works alittle is Internet Explorer (not to mention the oversized amount of adware), and outlook.

I hate them, and by that I mean really want to crush them in the palm of my hand. Now I have to waste once again, a DVD on all my pictures, and game source files
I'm unable to burn *.exe or compressed files, because they contain the virus. I now just hope that I can find my windows cd  :-\ , and re-install my pc, and get everything back as normal.

Hi there!

I must have overlooked this thread, but I will now respond, and have some questions to be answered (because ill probably pay the $100)

MP3 Support?
When we pay for the next versions, do you have the mp3 license with it, or do you have to pay for that besides?

Commercial games with earlier versions?
Will I still be allowed to go commercial with an earlier version of AGS?

CD case?
When I buy something, I'd like to have a original cd, of something, so will you send them to the homes, or is it an instant-download? Also... please don't let it leak onto kazaa! Like said before... it would be ashamed, and not fair, in comparing to me spending serious money on it.

I just hope that this community will stay together, and as fun as it has been!

edit : I'm beginning to doubt weither this is really true, or just a 1st april joke. Well I'll see ;)

Hi there. A few weeks ago, I found my backups again, that I thought I lost, with some games I made a few years ago. I left all the graphics about the same, and just finished the games by adding some sounds/music and translation from dutch to english.

Now I added them to my website, and I was wondering weither you like them. I also want to know if you like the new games lay-out of my gamespage on http://www.solidussoft.tk

I post this also, as abit of a promotion, for the games (doh!), I mean.. who would go to my website anyway?
You can click on the banners to download them directly or go to my website : http://www.solidussoft.tk ;)

Please tell me what you think of Letterlost, and Bugger! Bear in mind that the games were made approximatley 2 years ago.

Wow this game would be so good, if it hadn't have gradients! The gradients really make it look bad! AArgh, my eyes :p

ok ok... serious, it sounds funny, though can't you make the game alittle longer? I mean 3 rooms, and a crapload of puzzles... hard to believe i.m.h.o. but we'll see the 8th of April ;)

whoah!!!! Thank you so much for this information! I'm using The Gimp for nearly all my game images, and I just finished installing The Gimp 2.0! This is really alot better than my previous version 1.2.5! The first thing I noticed is the amount of plugins available, though... im going to look alittle more to the interface, and changes ;)

Now my images just have to be awesome with this update! ;D

I don't know you, for I'm on the boards since May 2003, but I do want to say welcome back! It's always great to see the people from the early stages of the blue cup, returning. I hope you can find your place in the community again, and enjoy your stay here. I'm looking forward seeing your productions. I enjoyed playing Little Johnny Evil alot :)

QuoteShall I start over or just shrink it up?

That's up to you, but I'd shrink it and touch it up from there.

Quoterealy eating up my time....

Well, that's to be expected. A simple background can take anywhere from 1 to 8 hours to get right. And my first walk cycle took about 10 hours to finish. So don't expect miracles! Things do get easier as you get more experienced though.
8 hours for a background? It takes me 12hours!
And my character walkcycle took me also 10 hours, so that's pretty average for a first walkcycle.

Drawing takes up time... but that's life! :p "Before you know, it's time to go!"

I am soon going to record something, but I don't think the idea of m0ds is such a good one. I mean, I don't think there is anyone at AGS who would steal something from somewhere else for a contest, is there?

I usually draw everything in high res then shrink it to whatever I need it to be.... I find that when I draw small it looks like shit but maybe I'll try it.
Like this doesn't looks like shit?

Yes, I agree, draw at lower resolution. I was wondering how you'd ever use this in a game. Say draw this character at 50x100... that would be alot easier! Good luck!
