Minimi, do you find that the GIMP crashes if you try to save its native format (XCF)? Becuase that's what happens with me every time and I'm fed up of it!

no, it works fine with me. Do you have the latest version, of GTK, or TheGimp? Try reinstalling the GTK, and if that's not it, maybe you have the instable version downloaded. Try downloading the stable version from : http://www.gimp.org/~tml/gimp/win32/

I'm not sure if you can, but wouldn't it be better to be able to make multiple *.vox files, like speech.vox, speech2.vox ?

I like the third photo the most! If only I had a postcard like that! I really like how the tree branch on the side of it, curves. The position is well taken, and the old architecture of the building is also bautifull. Where are these taken?

Yes, it's true! Theres a very very heavy storm here in The Netherlands! The wind is almost lifting people up. I couldn't stand outside. Sirenes of ambulances everywhere around. Trees almost blown away!! I never saw such a storm!

I'm just home from a whole day work at the supermarket, and while cycling to home, the storm was coming up. At that time I could cycle pretty good, but right now, it's unbearable!

Is there anywhere else also storm? Or have you had any expierences like this?

I just felt like telling you this, cause im affraid, there will happen lots of accidents (or already happened)  :-\

I'd like to bump up this thread, because of my curiousity, about the progress on the game! Is it still in development, and is it far?! According to the screenshot it's going to look awesome, so just my note, that im still thinking about it! ;D

WOW!!! There is also a review about my game Puddy Penguin! I would love to understand what they are saying about it. I don't mind if it's bad, but I never had any review on my game before!

http://plnehry.idnes.cz/adventure/puddy.html

Jaz, would you be so sweet to translate it for me, please! You would be my hero, and if you ever need anything like music, graphics, sounds, voices... I'll be there to help you out! ;)  I'm really flattered that someone wrote a review about my game :P

Ok first off I don't think you understood.... Either

For one This is the Critics Lounge U said it wasnt?
For Second I've posted tons before on the old forum and the new one is a lot different, so I'm not new or red, I've used AGS since it was born....
And third I knew the bg wasnt finished, It was so people could posibly show how they might texture it And give some insight on it all, to make mine and maybe others drawing more enjoyable. And as far as adding bushes and all that shit I know that part I just wanna know more about textureing and drawing as I was never that good at it....

What are you like 16???? miniteen lol
Ok, I had no intension at all to flame you, but I don't think your age, says anything about being an adult or not. I am 17, but I don't like you to judge me on that, and just by an arguement of being here along time, doesn't make you any better than others.
Furthermore, I'm sorry if I offended you, but do know that this is CRITICS lounge, so I have the right to say my opinion. It's just to you, to take it personal/global/positive/negative, or negate it.

OK... so I will soon do an edit on your picture, to show what I mean ;)

Best greetz,
Minimi

I don't think so, but you do can press always printscreen button on your keyboard, and then in your paint program, ctrl+v, and edit it ;)

Euhm... I don't really understand you. Why are you posting this background, without doing some work on it? You should post in Critics Lounge, if you really made some effort. But in this background, you drawed some lines(that aren't straight), and without roof... only white... and a premade brush... for the grass.... cmon... please don't spoil the forum with that.

I'm not saying it's bad or anything... it's just that, you should learn to take some more effort into the drawing and the post. I had to learn that too.... when I came here, I posted alot of screenies... wich I done in less than an hour. Though now I learned, that I need to take much longer on backgrounds/sprites... before posting. Only post if you really need help!

Bytheway, if you don't have PS legally, why not use TheGimp? And about your question... use a hard brush, to draw strokes of 10% opacity, to make colour differences. That gives more detail. Make the grass yourself, and not with a premade brush. Redo the outlines of the house and door. Add details, like windows, maybe stonewall... bushes, a tree? Sunshine, shadows...

Correct me if I'm wrong (which I probably am), as I counted that there are three active users who have their game main character in their avatar. There used to be four. Right?
From now on I have also the main character in my avatar, so I'm your fourth man! ;)

Shbaz, very nice modelling! Just like Pessi said, Blender is hard to get a grip on. Also, the button popups look weird on my pc, those buttons get all screwed up and at some points it just crashes!

It should work now!

Wow shbaz!
That looks awesome! After giving Bryce a try, I was about to give up and make it in 2d, but then I saw this! Could you like, animate this and add sand? If not, I'd be happy if you just sent me the model.

Didn't you understand Bryce?? :s Try the tutorial I've written...

MSX sooo rules! I still have it standing in all it's glamour at home. I have 5 casettes with multiple games on them, and 3 of those big games. :) Loading these games are taking sometimes 10minutes, but it sure rocks! Especially Antartica, with that penguin, where you jump over the holes to catch fishish.

I can remember my brother having more MSX games at his school computers! I was so jelish!

PS : I think it does not matter today what console you take, because most commercial company's seem to make shitty games only. Like "OOO look! I put a boob here, and more than 16 colors there... and some glamour there... and then I call it Master of the Rainbow Chick Devestation! Then everyone will be going to buy it"

it just makes no sense...

My first AGS game played, was The Uncertainty Machine. After playing that, I was so excited about AGS, but then I found out that I picked the best game of AGS as my first played game :P

It did not really effect my way of creating games, though it did gave me the vision, of once making a equal if not better game than TUM, wich probably won't happen ;)

Yeah... I've been here since April 2003, member since May

Corel Bryce 5, you get get is for about $75 from amazon!
Bryce is really good, and i.m.o. easiest to learn.

Though if you don't want to pay anything for it, use Blender! ;)

ps : why not asking someone else with more expierence, and the software, to make it for you?

Welcome to the AGS Soundchallenge! Make some noise, it's your choice!

The AGS Soundchallenge is a weekly competition, where everyone can enter the competition, by recording a *.wav, or *.mp3, or *.ogg file under the restrictions of the week.
Every entry will be kept in a database, of sounds.

Soundchallenge rules :

- You record your own sound, in a *.wav, or *.mp3, or *.ogg file, that is the maximum size of 200KB
- The entry is restricted under the weekly rules
- Try to keep the file size as low as possible
- The winner of the weekly challenge, will be chosen by the winner of the week before.
- The prize of the winner, is that he/she will set the rules for the next SoundChallenge!
- When you enter the competition and post in this thread, then post also the title of the soundfile. Make it recognizeable for others, that download it.
- The winner includes this information above into their next SoundChallenge thread!

RULES OF THIS WEEK : MouthSounds
im not making the rules too difficult the first time, so I expect alot of entry's. Use your imagination, because that's what I like to see ;)
*Create a soundfile made with your own mouth, and microphone. (for example, a dog barking, waterdrups, a fart)
*Maximum length : 5 seconds

My Examples : You Lose, Dog Wraff, Sneeze

Have fun recording!
