Wow! I actually have a good idea? Too much pressure!! lol :P

Is it ok for me, to start the competition? Let's say, duration = 7 days, and the rules would be something like

- Entry is own made wave file
- *.wav 200KB at most (the smaller the better)
- You can only enter ones
- The winner of the previous week selects the winner of that week, to make the new competition.
- All entry's are stored in a database.

Title : (something like) "AGS Soundchallenge" ??

btw : sorry for stealing your topic, releasethefrogs! :'(

more competitions? Oh my...! Not that it's not a good idea, but I think there are enough competitions... I mean... eventually it's about programming a game, and I don't see how 100 competitions help that.

Though I do think there could be done something else with music, than the tunecontest. Maybe something like a SoundEffectChallenge, where you create a sound effect of maximum 10 sec, under strict rules... then all sounds can go into 1 huge database, and we have our own sounds-resource ;)

hey there squinky. Last time you asked I was too late or something, but I'd really like to write some articles/reviews. I've been checking "A" every few days but not much updates were there, wich is a shame, for it is a good initiative.

my email is : peter@w8ff.com

I haven't seen that site before, and just finished reading the interview with Ron Gilbert. Pretty cool. I like it, and I also like your music tutorial alot. Only too bad alot of links are down. I encourage you to continue, because from what I've seen it's very informative, and handy stuff. It helps me to get inspired, and guides me in my development. So it's really cool!  8)

Ok here is a small review of me, on the website. I give a + or - before the line to show weither that's good or bad.

- First thing that came to my mind when I opened the page was ; "Yikes! That's small, where are my glasses?". I use resolution 1024x768, but I really think the website should be at abit larger size.
+ Easy to navigate!
+ The colour change by section looks really good
- My personal preference is that the navigation popups keep open, so you can have every section open, and that they do not close, when you choose another section
+-I think the font on the top could be alittle more funky, though it's probably also good this way around.
- the line at the bottom of the page : "all information copyright © twindesign 2004 :: www.twin-design.com ", could be made as an clickable hyperlink.
+ The background gray lines are good, and give a calm feeling to the site.
- When I click for example at "Why Twin Design" the title at touches the line under it. I mean only the "G" of design touches the line. Maybe if you could either change the font, or lower the line, it would be better.

That was it... I hope you have something on my little review!

ps : i forgot to say, im using IE 6, at 1024x768, with winXP

Could someone please remove the post of RapIt4Life??

If you want to have a good audio edit program, and don't want to spend money, you can get "Audacity" for free. It's a very strong application and totally freeware.

http://audacity.sourceforge.net

Also about recording your voice, it's the best to have an headset, or a microphone with a standard. That's because when you hold it in your hand, then point of sound changes all the time. I myself have a headset of 29,99 euro, wich is about $40

Would it be possible to make an MP3 version too, Minimi?
well it's not worth it, but I added a mp3 version...

I'm making a serious entry tomorrow, when I can sing out loud with normal voice, and normal lyrics, and make some instruments with it. I'm going to do an AGS cover on "Let's Twist Again".

i think you mean 320x240 and 640x480, because those two you mention are different aspects.

I'll try pointing out a few things.

320x240 :
- Faster running
- Lower game size
- The classic resolution, wich was used for KQ, PQ, SQ, Larry etc... so it gives that feeling

640x480 :
- If you need alot of detail, or you use 3D rendered backgrounds this is probably better resolution
- Slower running
- Larger gamesize

there is probably more to say about it... but I hope this helps you in anyway ;)

something else maybe, just an idea though... there could be a cycle of AGS games in the database, of the 3 front page games, like at the MAGS site. So everytime you visit, you see some other random games.

just a thought... looks cool the site btw!

Very nice picture! Though i.m.o. it lacks of reality. Here are some hints :

- The wall of the house does not looks like stones. I would darken the cement between te stones, to give more accent on the stones and also because stones in a wall are never that shiny and perfect.

- The roof needs more depth. Maybe by adding dark lines on the roof, and split ends at the bottom of the roof, improves the realism.

the straws/grains that stand like ///, are unrealistic opposed to the others. If you want to make them flattened, you could let them point each another direction, and not all the same.

furthermore it looks wonderful! Are you going to use this for an adventure game?

In the roomeditor you can set for objects/walkbehinds etc... a baseline, but the baseline is always horizontal. If it was possible to be able to choose between the horizontal/vertical baseline, then gamepossibilities would grow much bigger. It would also be handy to be able to choose for both coordinates as baseline. Is this possible?
#516
Wow, you are finished! I'm downloading, and im excited! I see you made a refer to the movie : Jay and Silent Bob, with the "No stairway to heaven" sign! :p Well, I'll be sure to tell you how I liked the game, when I finish it.

Too many hands.  Can you three have three seperate avatars?  It's starting to scare me.
I changed the colour, is this better?

Hmm... I don't believe you searching the forums all day, because yesterday someone else asked this also... but I'll answer you anyway ;)

It's rather simple! Just press printscreenbutton on your keyboard, during the game. Then open a graphicseditor, for example MSPaint. press ctrl+v to paste the picture

Your character probably overlapse some of the background, so just open the program again, and move your character and repeat the printscreen thingie! ;)

BTW... draw your own graphics!  :o

But Farlander, where do you draw the line? Isn't every murder, robbery, and action wich causes terror wrong? What does it matter, weither someone kills 20, or 200 people? Every human-being is important, and if you only punish the people from WTC, Oklahoma, Madrid etc... then that's pretty unfair, against a serial killer that killed 14 people, for example. And NO, I don't know it either how everyone should be judged, and I'm glad that I'm not a judge, but I think every case of an individual is different. For example, you can also give death penalty to the parents of some raper, for not giving any attention or love to their child, that as an effect of that, grew up like a loveless person, trying to fill the emptyness inside himself. It's pretty complicated... all I want to say, is that mankind has no rights to take the life of someone else, whatsoever. Not by terrorism, and not by death-penalty!

Hmm.. I haven't heard the news for a couple of weeks, and this is my main reason why I don't watch/listen it.
Always, everyday there is something on the news about boms, terrorism, useless violence, murder, raping and politics. Well... I'm not interested in all of those things. I do not say, that I denie that these things are going on, because it's reality, but what would it add to my life, by hearing everyday news about more suffering and pain?

Oh.. and bytheway, death penalty is not THE answer i.m.o. You shouldn't treat evil, with evil. I think we have to think further than to ask for their death. In my personal opinion, is someone that asks for the death of the killer, from the inside equal bad as the killer himself. CMON people, you can't judge about the life of someone else! Not even if that man/woman killed someone else.
