There was a community minigolf that was assembled by Steve McCrea.

As it interfaces with IRC textually, wouldn't it be possible to make the client dumb and have some calculations performed by a custom IRC bot? That would certainly reduce some strain.
#3
Without looking at the code, does the plugin allow for the client to join multiple channels simultaneously? As in, could the player be in one channel for chat and another for behind the scenes instructions, etc...?

While in the process of developing numerous GUIs for my current project I came to a realization, that the development toolkit leaves much to be desired when it comes to GUIs.

Suggestions:

Justification options for GUI elements. (Can be done with simple math taking the width/height properties of the GUI and the width/height properties of the individual elements into account)

Multiple selection of GUI elements.

Alignment of multiple selected GUI elements.

Equal Spacing of multiple selected GUI elements both vertical and horizontal.

Lock GUI elements to prevent accidental movement/resize.

Snap to grid of GUI elements.

Keyboard movement of GUI elements with arrow keys for single pixels or ctrl+arrow keys for tabbed movement.

Edit: Figured it out

Mailto allows for population through a body= code and a subject= code

My sincerest apologies for the bump, however, I was wondering if it is possible to populate fields from within the shell function?

For instance, if I wanted a GUI to craft invoices to be emailed to my clients I can currently get the mail application open with the mailto: function, however, I would have to manually fill in all the fields making it nothing more than a worthless launcher application. After realizing that there is no print functionality this was my fall back plan before loading up c++ and relearning that.

Use a simple editor like Webpage Maker or Dreamweaver.

If you have a host that allows PHP and databases use a CMS such as drupal though, makes updates a breeze and can do anything you imagine.

I think you need more contrast ... the darks and lights blend too well into each other.

Not only that but the perspective, while close, is a little off.

Lastly, some shadows would really help punch this up.

All in all it's not a bad image.
I don't see an image in this thread...

What do you mean by high res?
That seems rather small to fit into a 640x480 or 800x600 game.

Anyways. the composition is decent. I think that differing the wall and floor color is a needed change to give the room some more contrast. The window also seems rather empty, give it some depth so it doesn't just appear as a rectangle.

Also the inclusion of a side table or lamp would give the room usefulness. What is a character going to do with just a couch? What is the intention of the room?

A big thanks to you guys thus far. I contacted godaddy to see if there is any way for me to get the favicon code into the redirect page. Should be hearing back from them tomorrow.

Klaus, your code for the borders works perfectly. I am much appreciative of that code segment you posted.
Unfortunately, changing the slashes around in the photoscroller code didn't fare as well. No changes whatsoever. I think you may be on to something with that area of code though. I am going to poke around to see if I can find anything. Ill keep you posted.

Edit: The slash change didn't work during offline preview but seems to be working fine once I ftped it to the server. Thanks!

General Discussion / Html/Javascript Issues
Fri 04/07/2008 04:22:44
I know there are a few of you out there that are experienced in web development so I thought I would go ahead and ask this here.

Anyways, I am currently serving as webmaster for my fraternity. Basically, we have had the same site for the past few years and so I took the initiative of making a new one. The only limit I had was that it had to be html, no php or any of that good stuff due to hosting restrictions imposed by the campus network.

My issue is the major compatibility differences between IE and Firefox and how it affects certain elements of the site, primarily the scrolling photo album on the service page. The album works fine in IE but doesn't display at all in Firefox.

Another issue of mine is how the table border colors work in IE but not in Firefox. I read that this unavoidable due to Firefox's interpretation of HTML. All the workarounds I have seen are jumbled messes and involve putting tables inside tables which seems to be rather inefficient. I was wondering if anyone had any simple suggestions on this. Also, the table seems to stretch over its allotted size in FF.

Last problem is that my favicon is no longer working since I updated the site. The header code and the icon (png format 32x32) have not changed at all in my upgrade. In my troubleshooting I have tried different header codes and using a 16x16 .ico instead to no avail. This is probably a simple fix I am overlooking.

I think a lot depends on WHO is buying the gun, which is a great reason to have background checks and waiting periods.

You're repeating exactly the thing Snarky pointed out the problem with. And me before him.
1. People aren't born criminals. Before they committed their first gun related crime, they also had clean records.
2. A lawfully purchased gun is another gun in your society. One that can be stolen, one that can be used against you, or one that you can use against other, in an unforseen state of desperation or depression. How do we know you will never use that gun? We only have your word for it. There is no icon labeled "good guy" hovering above your head.

Point one is completely bogus. There are many, many, criminals with an extensive record prior to performing a crime involving a firearm.

I moved to Raleigh North Carolina last year to attend North Carolina State University. In the time frame of a year I have seen one shooting, two stabbings, and almost a dozen cases of robbery both armed and unarmed. Do I live in the ghetto? Absolutely not. In fact, my apartment is in a nice part of the city just minutes away from the state capital building. Basically what I am trying to get at is that American crime is much different than European crime. We can't rely on a piece of paper that says its illegal to own a gun to serve as a deterrent. We need something physical. I myself keep a knife in my pocket and a baseball bat in my backseat, the day I hit 21 I am also applying for my concealed carry permit.
