Im starting a new - Release Something for 2009.
I mean it's been two years since the last one, so your hard drives would be brimming with useless crap by now. I know mine is.

For those of you who have started many games but have never finished anything or for those of you that have attempted greatness but just missed the mark, it's your time to shine. This is your hour, your epoch.

But wait, hold on, don't go showcasing your wares just yet, you need time to prepare. That is why I am giving you until the 22nd of Feb( date subject to change).
But you can chat about it in the GenGen if you need to. I'll start a thread there and let you discuss it if need be.

Oh, and for all of you that are not familiar with Release  Something TM, then it's simple. If you have something that is never going to be a game and is facing the possibillity of never seeing the light of day . .then post it! Or don't, I don't care. Do whatever.

Okay kids,

Here is the story -

A Rabbit a Bear and a Chicken are all best friends.
The do every thing together.
Get into Adventures, save the world from destruction . . ride scooters and heaps of other fun stuff too!!

This is a kind of Sprite jam game for y'all

Here is your mission - You must produce a sprite of at least one of the above mentioned characters, and you are allowed to make up to three sprites in total (one of each animal).
(you can even do one sprite of three animals if you like).

They are to be fun and easy to use in an adventure game but the catch is that they have to be completely original - they cannot look like something from another game.
If I or any of the fellow sprite jammers decide that it is too closely identifyable with an existing game (even an AGS game) then your entry is void!!

The winner is the person who comes up with the most origanal new style.


(I encourage entrants to make entries that closely resembly obscure adventure games and see if our jammers can pick them or not - points awarded for good fake outs too.)

p.s. there are no real constraints to do with size and colour but remember if it is too complex to use in an adventure game (too highly rendered or giant ect.) then it wont count.

I can get DisplaySpeechBackground to work but not stay on continuously -

Can someone please explain how I get : game.bgspeech_stay_on_display
set to 1?

I tried game.bgspeech_stay_on_display =1;
in the :
function game_start()

and within the scrpit I was working in (on seperate occasions of course)
but it only displays the speech once -
I don't get the manual and i'm either setting it wrong or in the wrong place

Please explain this if you can

Ooops. I forgotted I entered that jam. Sorry for not posting sooner and thanks everybody who liked my sprite and said nice things about it! You people are now in my will.

New topic. . hmm let me see new topic . .
Adventure Game Mythic Creatures  - Make up an existing or new mythical creature for an adventure game - be it a three headed monkey or a man eating chicken or . .whatever. . you get the idea. But it would be favourable if you chose an existing adventure game (can even be an AGS game) and tried to relate it to that.
Go great Guns kids .  . I want to see heaps good stuff!!

No colour limit (less than a billion tho')

Size (to suit adventure game)

No other rules except that when you are doing it you
a) have to have fun and
b) can't be angry that I started this jam really late (especially coz it was my birthday the other day and hangovers take some time to go away!)
c) Have to use a computer.

I had heard some mixed reviews about the movie life aquatic - but was looking forward to seing it as it just looked like it was going to be so damn cool.
I have to say that I instantly became a fan - halfway through I was all like " hey I wonder where I can get a team Zissou beanie from . . ".  But I agree that the movie may be an aquired taste and that a few people would have gripes especially as it bares a remarkable similar feel to the Royal Tenenbaums.
I really didn't like the Royal Tenenbaums all that much I must say - It took me about three watches before I found it entertaining.

For some reason the Life Aquatic was so welcomingly gitch that I just felt like I wanted to get involved.

But that would just be being silly right?

Anyway - pont of fact - I would like to point out that it has been along time since I saw a film structured in such a way that made me just go - This would make a great Ags Fangame.
After much thought I decided that it was too much work and that slacking off would probably be far more rewarding - but having said that - if Life Aquatic was, at sometime to be made by me, which it wont, but if it was - here is probably what Steve Zissou would lookey like.



I have two questions for you Ags Kids -

Ã,  Ã,  Ã,  Right at this very moment I am watching Red Sonja on cable at about 9:30 in the morning . . it's crap . . really really crap. The acting is crap . . the actors are crap and the costumes are crap. I like it!!

You must design a fantasy esque hero, heroine, or bit character that pretty much sucks. Shonky yet convincing garb - and stereotypical to the enth degree. the more elaborate and crap the better.

100x80 or there abouts. As many colours as you want.

This is a sort-of shortish game that I made as a present for a friend.
The Character of Jasmine is real and looks exactly like her except for the being square, pixelated and real tiny.

Let me know what you think - it's less than 4mb.

I am an AGS user, I have to admit it - I think I'm addicted. Every spare moment (for me thats quite a few) seems to be usurped by AGS in some way. It just seems to creep in there.

I though I would ask you fellow AGSers how Gunho you are into AGS - does it effect your life or if you are a recovering AGS fanatic - how did you break the buzz.

Dear C&C crew - I am an avid fan of your work in aiding the AGS community with good advice and was wondering if you could find the time to help me out.

I was considering growing my beard into a new style - could you please help me in making a decision in my hirsute Ã, persuit.


The fist is called the dapper, the second is called the strong man, the third is known as the Fisher Price Logo beard and the forth Ã, - the old hamburger.

This is my first game, and I made it for MAGS in Nov of last year. It was made in about twelve days and so when I originally posted it, it was buggy. I was sick of it for ages and decided to leave it.  Then I gave it to a friend of mine to play and she liked it so it inspired me to fix it up. So here it is  all fixed and (just about) buggles . . buggles? I mean Bug-less.


Hope you'all enjoy it - the puzzles are pretty straight forward, but it's still pretty entertaining.

I finnished playing Broken Sword 3 last week - and even though I thought the game was (kinda) fun (the puzzles where way to basic) I thought the ending to be extremely Corny . . and one of the Lamest battle sequences ever .

This weeks Topic - Lamest Battles in History!!!

It can be any thing from a take off of a good battle to an actually battle that just got up your nose (Legal battles included)

Eg. Wellington beats Napoleon - what up with that?
     David beats Goliath - Whaddy up wid dat?
     David Hasslehoff lose battle with studio big wigs to remake Knight rider series. . What up with . . uh, no I agree with that one.

Just wondering if anyone thinks a background in sepia tones or monochromes would be intersting - visually - in a game format?
