nice job there, one thing that kind of bothers me though is the clock.  workers in the area would be bonking their heads on it if they weren't paying attention.  like a low hanging ceiling lamp fixture.  not a major issue though.
(edit) also what about a bit of a halo around the computer monitor?
(edit) on an unrelated topic, it's been a very long time since I posted here.  Hello again to anyone who remembers me.

And the winner is: Geraduatuza!
Congratulations, Geraduatuza, please start the next Blitz!
Sorry I'm a bit late, I was caught up in the election.

Thanks snarky, it is not in a book though, because I made it just for this contest.  It's made by doing a transparent wash on top of an ink drawing, then, after I scanned it, I rolled the RGB channels a bit.  The original scan, of course, it quite large.  I'm not sure how many pixels, but it's 6 inches x 8 inches.

It's been another awsome round of entries in this awesome legendary competition, so let the voting begin!

May the force be with you, and remember not to vote on my non competing entry, allthough I am sure many will feel copelled to, you must resist the temptation.

I am all for the idea of adding characters and objects, personally.

a way I have done locking doors, is, to have the locked area cut off from other walkable areas, and add a new walkable area, bridging the gap, when the key is used on it.  I usually try to locate my key cunningly on a nearby path.

I decided to make a background, even though I am not competing.
DO NOT VOTE FOR THIS!  IT IS A NON-COMPETING ENTRY!

#8
ah that should do the trick.  thanks.

How would I go about triggering cut scenes or animations based on a room specific timeline, instead of interactions?  Sorry in advance if this is a dumb question.

I like the style, kind of like old road runner / bugs bunny stuff.  I don't know if orthographic perspective is a good idea for a city though, since everything is so vertical.

The walls of the building look a bit spartan, how about a gutter, some conduit, a fire escape, some flyers posted in the window, or on the walls, a stand-up ashtray, a whiskey barrel planter, a fire hydrant, bits of litter, or something to add extra interest.

The torn wallpaper is too regular and clean.  I would change the shape of the tear, and add add irregular off-white edges, so it looks more like torn paper.  It might help to think about how it became torn, and reflect that in the shape of the tear.

Take a white, or light blue line tool, and make diagonal streaks on the windows at about 50% opacity.  This will make it look more like glass.

I just want to say, I am glad the normal background blitz is back, And I would have participated had I noticed it in time.  Btw, hi guys, it has been awhile.

The viewing angle would have to be higher than the tall buildings to see their roofs, so unless that is the case, the roofs are slanted in the wrong direction.
