QuoteYou aren't the first newbie who dons the white armor as soon as icey is critiqued, and you certainly won't be the last.

I might have joined the forum lately but I've been lurking off and on and playing the games around here for years. I'm no 'n00b' and I'm certainly quite aware of how it works around here. I just decided to learn the engine before I signed up to avoid pointless "How do I do dat?!!1" threads. Couldn't live with that on my conscience. And to be quite frank, Khris, I just don't approve of the way people mock this guy. It's about plain decency. Not everyone is a pro, many of us never will be. Treating him like a failure isn't going to help. I like to have my own opinion about things and that isn't going to change, newbie or not. When I was 17 I was doing some damn stupid shit. At least he is trying to do something product with his time.

QuoteThat's a little harsh.

Maybe you're right. I'm certainly no angel, in fact, I can be a bit of an arsehole. You're probably nice, friendly people, but I am the type of person who cannot stand to see someone get so singled out. With some people it's bordering on bullying (I am not talking about you guys specifically).

Hell, I don't even know Icey personally. We haven't even exchanged a pm before. I'm just old enough to know better than to treat him like an idiot. It's not clever and it's not healthy. It's just as bad as a kid showing his dad a picture he drew and the dad yelling at him for colouring outside the lines.

Peace and love.

When I joined the AGS community I thought I was joining 'Adventure Game Studio', not 'Adventure game Sadist'.

Seriously guys, the bloke is 17 and he has a better understanding of the engine than 75 percent of you, yet all you do is give the guy a hard time. It's easy to point out all the negatives in everything (which seems to be an ongoing theme here at AGS), why not cut the lad some slack and tell him where he is improving as well? Looking back at all his other attempts you can clearly see Icey is getting better at what he does. Clearly it isn't the best game in the world, but credit where credit is due. It seems to me like Icey get's picked on specifically as I tell you I have played some trash here and held my tongue. Well, there was that one time I did give a negative review but got bashed for doing so. Ah well.

@ Icey - take what you have learned and just keep going mate, learn from your mistakes and keep improving.

Yep, I'd be quite happy to do that. I'll get back to you when I can with a log.

Hey icey, damn good effort here! People can mock you all they like but you really pushed the boat out with this game. The graphics, choice of music and story are pretty good ;).

There are many typo's and game breaking bugs though. Get a tester or helper, Sort them out and re-upload is my suggestion. Nice work regardless.

I was pretty far gone wasted when I wrote that... Early christmas party. I did mean it in a jokey way though. Sorry if I offended anyone.

Trust me, I now I am a tool. Was meant as a joke.

First of all, I think you jumped a couple of steps between the 1st and 2nd picture.
Second thing is that the hair on the left (her right) kind of has too much volume, kind of fights gravity and stretches too much on the left.

Trust you to always look on the bright side o' life, Anian.

Looks feckin awesome Ghost.

I was honestly sad to see that this weren't fully funded. The whole thing looks pretty professional and definitely commercially viable. The problem is your trailer could be better. If you really want to grip someone with the game you need to think about showing a screen for only a few seconds, maybe perhaps a puzzle being half solved a quarter the way through the trailer and some voice acting. Voice acting would be a bonus, however, if you just spoke over the game or introduced yourself that would have got you more browny points. I guess everyone is scared of you cause your a bad-ass veteran, so they would not tell you, but yeah. It's the truth. When the game comes out I'll prob buy  it.

Well I haven't (haven't had the time) completed it yet but I can assure the players that the dialogue is strong. Heh... The graphics are nice, I can tell you have worked to a fair length of time with this game. I personally love the humour, though I don't know if I am alone on that. When I have 'travelled' further I will let you know what I think of the ending, but if the previous is anything to go by, I lol'd.

Aye, merry christmas! Very nice pictures. There is one thing that bother me though... Is that child in the first picture going to kill me? I hope not but you never know. It's the crazy look in his crazy eyes!

Hints & Tips / Re: Mechanismo

Dude, you have to go back down to the first floor, enter the teleporter window where you got the first element, go further to the left and do a little puzzle thing and get another thing. Once you done that, go to the elevator, make sure you are standing on it and use the elevator. The elevator will not work if you are not standing on it.

That's a damn good attempt, almost perfect actually. Seeing as you drew these frames free hand as well as hand driven, you have this far a good attention to detail. People say with practice makes perfect - this is true. But what also true is that we live in the 21st century, and what that means is that we have the luxury of items like photoshop. I cannot count the times an older person has quoted the old cliche that "things were so much harder in my day, you had to do everything by hand and read all the books!". This is true and i commend them. HOWEVER... We as a human race are generlized as being the smartest species on earth (for some reasons, I am sure :/). Therefor why not embrace the use of modern technology as it is the current fruit of our loins. Most modern journalists, contemporary artists and musicians would be sweeping the fecking streets without it. You have a talent, m'dear. All you need is a version of photoshop or similar, to keep the same head frame and attach it to that wonderfully flowing body. The beauty of photoshop and other image editing software with layers, is that you can copy and past an existing image you have placed and keep it recurrent throughout an animation. I'd hate to hear of you pulling your hair out, so please, get this software and make that wonderfully drawn animation perfect with a bit of modern technology. I am not advertising it due to legal reasons, but, you can easily get photoshop portable for free. Peace!

Cheers, Slasher! It's posts like that that give me the boost I need! I'll be concentrating on this project quite a lot so lets hope I get a taster out there soon to back up the talk and still frames!

Updated the original post with some new screenies and edited so it actually gives you a bit of info on what the game is about. I've been working tirelessly on the game recently so the good news is a demo will be out very soon!

I also took down the link for the website which I failed to update due to hiatus (it was pretty crap anyway, let's be honest). I'll have a better looking, more informative one up in no time. Epic stuff, I know.

Cheers

I actually agree with you, Darth. Though I do find myself being ridiculously optimistic sometimes.

The majority of Americans are lovely people, I am absolutely sure of it without a doubt. But there is no need for guns. Too many cases where people flip out and use them like this imo.

Problem is, because it's such a heated debate they will never change the laws dramatically. The whole thing is too far gone. Hopefully the democrats will be brave enough come up with some changes. In a perfect world guns wouldn't get in the hands of such people. But as Darth says, it isn't a perfect world.
