General Discussion / Re: Star Force

Yeah, I remember playing Star Force a lot as a kid as it was one of the few games that I got with my NES. It's a so very simple game, yet so challenging. I think I managed to get past the epsilon boss once, though I'm not sure. That itself required hell lot of playing.

Damn, I need to find that cartridge now.

Yes, Lucas plays Rad Racer with the power glove and everyone is blown away. It's interesting how Corey is wearing the power glove in the cover of the movie even though he was a good guy and the power glove was TEH EVIL. I know the glove doesn't really work in real life, but damn, it looks so cool. Totally rad.

I LOVE THE POWER GLOVE. IT'S SO BAD.

I went and got it.

Petteri is very excited over his latest purchase.

Don't let the picture fool you though, the Finnish name seems to be Game Over (which is quite a silly name, too. I mean, the kid is super good at video games, so to name it Game Over? I would understand that title if the kid sucked at video games. Also, my finger looks strangely fat in that picture).

I'm afraid the quality will be very bad, yes. However, I'm a NES fan so it will be a nice addition to my uh, "collection".

I went to a local second hand store and saw a video tape that turned out to be none other than 'The Wizard', the classic movie about a kid who rocks at video games. I was about to buy it, it was ridiculously cheap and seemed to be in good condition, but would it be worth anything? I've seen the movie and to be frank it sucks balls (except for the gameplay parts of various games) but it hasn't been released on a dvd and I have never seen it being sold anywhere else. Should I go back and buy it? I doubt anyone has bought it yet.

Every now and then I have seen some old video games turn up, like a boxed copy of Under a Killing Moon (I still regret not buying it) and some boxed NES games. What old stuff (other stuff than games, too) you have purchased? Any real treasures one should keep an eye in case it turns up somewhere?

Before everyone books we should decide if we're going to wait for everyone to arrive (not counting those who come later) before heading off to Benidorm. Last year most of the people arrived in Athens a day early but then again that wasn't such a problem because it was weekend. Now doing that would require one more day off of work for some people. Personally, I wouldn't mind staying in the airport overnight and I think waiting for everyone to arrive would be nice, but what do you think?

The cunning twist in the end of the game is actually that the protagonist takes off her shirt and two footballs fall on the ground.

Tub girl.

A friend and I were curious of what kind of picture it could be because no one had tricked us to tub girl yet, so we looked it up in Google image search at school some years ago. Rest of the class looked at us a bit weird when I couldn't stop laughing and my friend was about to vomit.

This must be the best thread in the critiques lounge, ever...

Threads like this were everyday life when Pessi was around.

But this is an interesting thread, lots of helpful advice here. The first images you posted had very Bernie-ish feel to them which the latest one seems to lack. Perhaps it's just because I'm used to seeing fantasy type art from you, and then you suddenly draw normal people!

But it's neat art nevertheless.

Thanks everyone!

I'm quite happy to see at least some of you recognized them. I'm planning to make more but so far I have no means to make a game using these sprites. However, some time ago Vel brought up the idea of a community based game series and if someone is ever going to start that thing, they are free to use these sprites.

Critics' Lounge / Sprites

I drew sprites based on some of my friends (myself included).

Dunno if I'm ever going to use them, but I thought you might want to express your opinion. Some of them turned out quite well and are quite recognizable, some of them not so much.

EDIT: Heads are meant to be too big compared to the rest of the body.

EDIT: Petteri, you mean the Discworld following trail. That part works fine.

No, that's not what I mean. The text that displays the name of hotspots. Sometimes I didn't get the name of the hotspot (even though the cursor clearly was over the hotspot), sometimes the text kept blinking and sometimes the text updated slightly after moving the cursor over the hotspot.

I seriously hope no one was even expecting Finland to win against Sweden.
