Awesome work zyndikate as always. I'm blown away everytime you post something. You should be working somewhere with six figures. Are you? 'Coz you should. :)

EDIT: Oh yeah I wanted to comment babar's work which reminds me "another world". Pretty cool background although simplistic.

Just tried a few things to make it more interesting. Everything is more or less just doodles. Take out of it what you want.  :)

How should you probably rely on a book that has been written by so many people over so many years and has undergone so many translations? It can't possibly be a source of law, or even information, it should be regarded as a compilation of stories that are maybe interesting as cultural evidence of that time, or as moral guidelines valuable at that time, but not as a kind of "law".

Here's my entry:

Letter From Home

The scale and theme changes slightly in the approx. midpoint of the song.

EDIT: Now that I listen to it.. it changes quite a lot... I think I went off track without thinking.. I'll post if I can make it more cohesive.

Nice work CJ!

I had the same script link error that monkey reported and used his work-around to test theora which seems to be working pretty splendidly!  8) Now you can actually use video without bloating the game.

Not sure if this is meant to be evidence of anything, or what?

Well if congressman Ron Paul tells on public radio show that there will be a discussion of implementing a new monetary system on nov 15 and that doesn't sway you to believe that it will be on the table, I don't know what else to tell you. Maybe he's making it up... ::)

win98 users are worldwide under 0,5% of all users. W3schools reports 0,2% at this point in time Link.

The final 1.0 release has been released:

Check Theora news page

Adding support would be the beezkneez!  ;)

I wasn't "feeling" the face so I made a quick doodle to make it more narrow and threw some color to the hair for spice. Didn't shade the face properly but you'll get the idea.

Tried to do the first one with just color range. Before applying color range added some saturation to greens to make them stand out more. I copied the result 3 times and scaled it. Added some dirt and sky. Maybe enough resolution for a probably-never-to-be-finished game?

I can understand that. Although the compatibility shouldn't be a problem. Here's an excerpt from Theora's homepage:

Q. Can I use it right now?
The bitstream format is frozen since the release of Theora alpha 3. So, files produced by the alpha 3 reference encoder will be supported by all future decoders. This means you can safely use Theora to encode your content right now.

While Theora is labelled beta it has been in production use in many systems for over 3 years and is completely safe to adopt.

EDIT: I just noticed that it only preserves the ability to play older videos. My bad. Well, hopefully they don't take another 3 years to get to 1.0.

I'm just throwing this out there as I would find this very useful. If it's not useful to others or this is a technical impossibility then just ignore this.

Native Theora video support with the ability to:

- play next frame
- play previous frame
- loop automatically
- check the frame playing
- change the frame to whatever
- get maximum frames of said file
- resize

Also if this video plugin could be used so that hotspots and possibly sprites could be layered on top of it along the mouse pointer, well that would be nice.

Just throwing this out there.  :)

Yeah I can't get it working either. Same problem as Xenogia. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Video file plays fine when replaced in the demo so it's not that. Should the OP's upper example code really go to the global script?

EDIT: No takers? I guess I won't be using theora then.

That's an awesome prize olafmoriarty!  :o
I'm definitely entering this!

-will be modified with an entry-

EDIT:
Yeah I totally forgot this comp until 17th when the lights were out. Didn't remember the keyword/subject so no work done and just found out site was back online.

Let's see if I can make it...  :)

EDIT2:
Yeah this seems to be going nowhere on my part. I can't post this drivel and I can't get it work before going to sleep (which is now). Let it be a lesson for you kids. Don't leave it until the last minute.

Massive kudos to olafmoriarty for arranging such a nice prize for the winner!

Mine is the opposite. I'm far from perfect when it comes to pixels.
