General Discussion / Digital Camera
Mon 15/05/2006 03:27:30
Can anyone reccomend a nice, digital camera? I need a cheap one, around 60-100 dollars US with computer hookups. I've searched E-Bay for cheaper ones but they seem faulty.

EDIT: Sorry if this post is dumb, but Im not very big on cameras.

General Discussion / Anim8tor

I don't really know where to put this, but is it possible to create rooms in Anim8tor? I've looked for tutorials but so far I've only found character tutorials.

Ok, I had this cool idea. for every post you make, you get AGS cash (like 10 or 20), then when you get enough money, you go to these fake shops on the forums and buy cool little icons to go under your name like teh infamous bluecup(!!!) or perhaps a really small character from the classic adventure games (DOTT,KQ,SQ etc.)

Hints & Tips / Novo Mestro won't start
Wed 03/05/2006 01:57:24
Yep. I get the zip downloaded and it has the dos executable and the readme, but when I click on the exe the black screen comes up for a split second and then disappears as if I didn't click on the exe. Does anyone know why it does this?

EDIT: Now it seems to not start up ANY dos executables of AGS games. I can't play QFG4 either!

I feel like s**t right now and I was wondering what games you would reccomend to cheer me up. Thanks.

I was tinkering with Demo Quest II but I could not find any kind of code relating to the footprints you create in the Sierra style room. How do you do this as it is an awesome idea to use in one of my games.

Critics' Lounge / 2 Walk Cycles
Fri 28/04/2006 22:15:00
I recently have been shaping up on my animation skills and I decided to put them to the test. I drew 2 walk cycles (one plain, one detailed).

Heres the first, plain one, spread out frames.

Heres the walk cycle:

General Discussion / I made my first website!
Fri 28/04/2006 02:56:51
http://www.freewebs.com/ryda_4_life42o/index.htm

It's my first website made at freewebs. It's supposed to be professional, so I put some rules on certain pages (guestbook, chat room, sign up page) because, hey, no one likes people who act like a-holes for no reason.  ;D

Please tell me what you think of it!

Where do I find some reference pictures? I searched Google images but I get all sorts of retarded crap.  :)

Not sure where to put this...

My Game Suggestion:

Title(s)- ? (Help with this Please :))

What is it about? - Sort of a psychological horror game. I have an idea of someone dreaming their own adventure, and since it's a dream, the player will see some figments of their imagination (Like Psychonauts), but when the player wakes up, they awaken in the place where everything they dreamed is real, and they must prevent something (Bomb, Death, Accident) from happening, or to escape what they have dreamt(Plane Crash, Kidnapped).

For example- If I had a man named Jack who dreamt that he was alone in the woods at night with just a flashlight, and something in his dream caused him to wake up, he would wake up in the middle of some forest at night with just a flashlight, except this time, it's REAL and he has to prevent it, or to escape whatever scared him in the dream, or he could die or something.  Maybe the player would have little time to react, or would have to reach a certain spot (like an old cabin) before something gets him and the game ends.

The problem I have is that i'm not sure what most people would enjoy interface-wise. I imagine a sort of "sanity" bar would be cool like in Eternal Darkness, and the player would have a limited inventory (two pockets, two items and no more) and health of course, but what would YOU like? Some games use no interface and make the player rely on sounds the character makes to tell them that they are hurt or tired or something. Some games use as many gauges as possible to constantly keep the player at bay so as not to put their character in danger (Illbleed for example, had a heart monitor and all senses tracked VIA GUIs that made you aware of your character's heart rate and made the player rely on one sense instead of all of them, as not to cause the character to have a heart attack and die.) There is so many games that cover these kinds of things (Silent Hill series, Resident Evil series, Overblood) that im not sure if attempting this project is worth it. I don't want someone to play the game and be like "Hey! I have a game JUST like this!" and then think I re-hashed that same game. I just need some suggestions for interfaces for my game. BTW, can anyone think of a title?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!  ;D Corey.

Not sure where to put this...

I need some midi's for my game, and I don't know how to make my own music. I tried searching on LimeWire but I get some stupid stuff (and porn, lol). Does anybody know how I can get some music?

Does this look okay? I did it in an older program called Microsoft Picture It! 2000. I think it looks okay but it's too flashy I think.

General Discussion / Computer trouble
Tue 28/03/2006 22:55:26
Recently, my 2001 Gateway got this weird epidemic. It would load up, stay for like 10 seconds, and then restart again. I don't think its caused by a virus because it hasn't been connected to the internet for 3 years. The fact is, I have all my AGS stuff on there, plus some other important projects for school and DarkBASIC. My question is, can I use a USB cable to transfer files from my old computer to my new Dell?

General Discussion / Paint Shop Pro X
Mon 20/03/2006 20:31:27
I just got a new Dell computer and there is a 60 day trial of Paint Shop Pro X on it. I want to buy it but I have no knowledge of Paint Shop Pro and don't know how to use it very well. Is it worth buying? I don't want to waste $125.00.

Is it possible to create 2 lists, one list with 5 ints(1-5) and the other list of 10 ints(1-10)? I don't know how to code this other than make 10 individual ints and 5 other individual ints. I need this type of structure so I can pick a random number from list one and two, multiply them together and use that value to take away health from enemy or player. Can anyone please help me? Thank you.

Edit: Also, how do I create a small array in AGS 2.61? I've searched but the code for each was questioning to me and I didn;t really understand it too much.

When I mean use the mouse to move I mean like, say you had a character who just kept walking and moved wherever you put the mouse. I was wondering how this would be done. I tried just using a simple MoveCharacter command but the game just loads and loads and loads...

BTW: I'm using 2.61

I think that AGS could use a controller plug-in for multiplayer on one computer. You could have one player use a keyboard and another player use a controller. It's not much, but it opens up some multiplayer elements that sadly aren't available with the TCP/IP plugin.

I just purchased Half-Life 1 at Wal-Mart for like 10 bucks and when I install it I get this error message when I click on half-life to play.

Steam.exe(main exception) failed to load library steam.dll

It's really pissing me off. I went to the Steam forums and looked for answers but I only found ones for client registrys. Can anyone help me with this?
