General Discussion / Re: The nintendo Wii
Tue 14/11/2006 21:07:56
I was showing my friends my GFW magazine, and Infamous Adventure's King's Quest II was in there, and they kept telling me how bad it is...

For the first time I disagreed with them. I argued about it for hours. That game is great, a hell of a lot better than I've seen, and thats counting what I see on the Wal-Mart shelf. I can't believe gaming is like this... I wish we were still in the 8-bit era where the best thing you could play was a Nintendo.

Hmm, im not sure about UK, but I don't have a scanner. I could try to do it in school on thursday.

Four words, Pixel Perfect Collision Detection. Im sure something could be done with it.

You went there? What was that, GameDev? Lucky man, you're so lucky...

Go to reviews and look for KQIII.

EDIT: Ok, I couldn't find it there, but I swear that it was in the magazine. Here is some of the content:

GFW's Verdict:

+ A fun strip down memory lane for Sierra diehards.
- Newcomers might balk at the simple story, short length, and hokey voiceover work.

Review: (not full review)

Fan-crafted remakes arguably trump retail products when it comes to keeping the adventure game genre alive; recent projects like Kings Quest II+ and Maniac Mansion Deluxe certainly outshine 90 percent of the soulless adventures that actually make it onto shelves. The newest free rehash to hit the Web, the Infamous Adventures group's King's Quest III (a remake of Sierra's 1986 gem), pays suitable tribute to the original...and has plenty of fun with its source material in the process.

They had one song in particular that was great, Trogdor!!!!!!!!!! And Killing In The Name Of, but most of the songs have some horrible covers.

Ha i remember watching that on homestarrunner.com. Personally I can't really play guitar, and GH has an awkward guitar controller that I hate (cramps my arm when trying to shift between buttons)

Anyone played Frets on Fire? Its basically Guitar Hero for your PC, but the best part is that it has its own song importer, so you can totally make your own songs! Plus, theres an active community where you can download tons of songs and mods. So anyone heard or tried it yet?

Why not just use an overlay?

His arms look too short IMO. Try adjusting his eyebrows to an angry expression, heres an example in crappy ASCII:

Critics' Lounge / Re: Where to upload my files

Why did fileupyours not work?

I use that all the time and so far it hasn't crapped out on me yet.

Try this: http://www.megarotic.com/

Its meant for uploading big files though i'm not sure what the biggest amount is.

Of course you could try RapidShare.

Of course how stupid of me.  :D
#632
Its in the manual but yeah it kinda hard to find stuff in the manual isn't it?  :)

First make a label on the GUI you want your score displayed on. Then rename the label to @SCORETEXT@ and voila!

Sort of like checking every pixel of a character. I don't know why I said it like that.  :=
#634
Sorry to bump old threads but did you know that this game was reviewed in Games For Windows magazine? Congrats on a 8/10!
#635
Sorry about this, but can an array be used as an index of collision?
#636
And thats the reason for sooooo many locked topics :)

j/k

Its funny to see so many non-helpful remarks about spooks1's walkcycle. I agree with lgm about coloring in with solid colors, then work on shading. But do take in consideration of maybe trying to draw your own walkcycle. Its alot of work at first, and you might not be happy with it, but you can improve if you actually put the work in.
#637
Why don't you make it bigger? Or set the amount of inv items per line in the script (Manual.)
#638
Try this:

if ((oObject.Visible == false) && (oObject2.Visible == false)){
DisplaySpeech(PG,"OK");
}

oObject would be the script name of the object that has to be off, so if the object was named One, and the other was Two, then the script would be this:

if ((oOne.Visible == false) && (oTwo.Visible == false)){
DisplaySpeech(PG,"OK");
}

This is what you mean right?
#639
I have a suggestion. How about a white background, with a rose and a pistol?
#640
*bump*

Finally, production has started again! I had to work out some story elements, which some of you had mentioned. One man work is pretty tough, but hopefully I'll survive.  ;)
