Put me down for a copy, Lilly.

After which, I'll put down your work.  As usual.

Good to see you haven't been sitting on your ass, though.

General Discussion / Re: Decisions, decisions!

I get that feeling sometimes, I'll start something, then shortly after I think to myself, "I'd rather be doing..".  It was MIDI for a while.  Then backgrounds.  More recently sprites.  I'm talking game making stuff, here, since I plan to actually make something one day.

I'm also talking leisure time wise, since for a large chunk of the day, I'm pre-occupied at work.  (Thankfully, outside of work I don't have to acknowledge it's existence until I show up the next day. I'd hate having a job that took up time when I was at home, too.  It'd be like being in school again).

I've found I get easily bored with pretty much everything I do.  I'm in a band, an to be honest, I used to love it, playing bass for six hours a day.  In the last three months, I've played twice.  Both of those were when I was at band practice.  That said, Sunday's practice WAS fun, so I think I'm going to pick that up a bit more recently.

I think you need a job.  For one, it'll give you some cash, to do with whatever you want.  Secondly, and I think this is more important for you, it'll break up that leisure time, and make said time more enjoyable whatever way you spend it.  It'll feel like you've achieved something just because you're not working at the time.

That's what I think *you* should.  In response to your actual question.

What do I do?

I drink.

More recently, I drink and play City of Heroes.

It's quite pathetic really.

In my experience, #ags is the best place to get help in any aspect of a game

That's where I'd go for help.  It's more of a community for me than the forums, since it's real time.  It's like friends and pen pals.  The friends are there, whilst the pen pals are just an interesting distraction at random intervals.  That said, I can understand some people's aversion to chat rooms, one person from one ATC i was in, didn't believe in chat rooms, with various reasons.  Time issues also don't help, with people being able to log on at only specific times.

A project should still be about working with people you get along with, tho.  You wouldn't enjoy a standard job where everyone else is an ass, why would you with something you actually cared about?  I don't think a "help wanted" sign is going to produce the same results as a knowing the person, or at least, knowing of the person first.

Vince/Ivy.  Congratulations.  It's nice to see something good's come out of it.

I really do not understand this thread.  You're telling us you're going to make a game, but not showing us any evidence.

What exactly do you plan to achieve from this?

I'm typing at the moment.  When I finish, I'll press the "Post" button.  After that, I'll check now and again for a reply.  I'm going to work tomorrow, and have to leave for band practice in less than an hour.  I plan to wear shoes.  I also plan to wear clothes.  I'm not sure which clothes, and I understand that it might be a difficult decision picking which jeans go with which t-shirt.  However, I laugh in the face of fashion, so I'm sure any decision will possibly lead to some sort of outcome.

I have nipples.  Hopefully, tomorrow, I'll have them too.

..Sorry for the obscureness and/or harshness, but seriously..  Why post this?

Never caught on? What the heck?  Everyone I know (in real life) have seen both the Twilight Zone and the Outer Limits.

I never read the ACR thread because I haven't got the time or want to aid some random person on stuff that I, to be honest, don't really care about.

If someone needed help, and we discussed it, I might help.

I'm sure a lot of folk feel the same.

As for Andail's idea, it sounds pretty good, though I can't seeing it having much success.

EDIT:

Also, if I needed help on my own project, I'd ask people I already knew.  Not just hope some random person I've never heard of is bored and needs something to do.

Surely 06/06/06 will just be the birth of the anti-christ. i doubt we'll hear much from him for the next 18 odd years, after which he'll probly win some lame-ass reality show about losers and start his reign of terror from there.

Seriously, it won't be yet.  Who's going to fear a dude who still has to have his diaper changed?

Personally I'm just cheesed off that the dead aren't walking the earth yet, what with all the planning I've been doing recently.

I really should start reading emails a bit more often, I guess.

There's a Mittens Quiz, at Mittens/Brittens.
Roger on the IRC channel used to do trivia.

Other than those two, I wouldn't recommend another.

She's got monkey arms.

Shade:
What sort of feel are you going for on this? Is it cartoony or realistic or very realistic?
Also, if I were you, I'd ditch those poses in favor of a 3/4 body view.  Front and side poses are ugly even in real life, and they're not really necessary.

Purple Turtle and Rhythm Factory, eh?
Which one are you going to, Nikolas?

Maybe we can hold our own Midget Mittens there.

Personally, I'd get rid of the block of white, and have the writing in that part colored.

Other than that, Evil's ideas are pretty solid.

As for the 26/27 June in London, if I can get the time off work, I'll be at one of them.

You're running skimbleshanks, now, 'Buddy?
Poke me when I get back home, and I'll fix up Rui's login details and send them to you.
(For the lumpcity site).

I'm with Squinky.  ACR thread is the way to go.  There's loads of folks who can make original MIDI files for your games.  Some can even do MP3 or OGG files.  Either way, you'll have something that's original and more importantly fits the mood of the scene.

Better that than a random tune that doesn't fit.

1. See the second reply.
2. Report it as well, and give my page long argument a bit more credibilty.

vict0r:

LucasFan made the game.Ã,  This eBay seller is just making money out of selling freeware games.
The seller isn't LucasFan.

EDIT:

(Imagine I tried selling one of your games on eBay, vict0r.  You make it for free, and I get cash from it.  Wouldn't you be a little cheesed off?).
#277
I've "asked the seller a question".  I've also "reported the item".  I'll report back if I here anything about the skank.
#278
So is this Horror and/or Mystery?

Cruise for a Corpse was a mystery, and it was pretty horrific.

Hero promised me this a while back.  He owes me a drink.

Chances are, I'll get that drink next year.
