General Discussion / Re: Myspace and overlays?

Can you set all the myspace crapola to all be one color? IE, white background, white text, etc?
#342
You could just save them in My Documents in folders that start 0001*, 0002*, etc.

Alfred J Kwak? Great, now I'm all depressed.  God, that show was miserable.

As for wanting to not be manga? Why?  Unless you're anti-japan, I can't see what's wrong with it looking that way.  As long as you like your style of drawing, who cares what it's similar to?

You can only be a n00b once, unless you're reincarnated and artificially aged somehow, you won't win again.

Note: That's not a license to be a dick.  You can still win the p3n15h award.

Note: Don't try to win the p3n15h award.

It's an interesting idea, phattie, however I don't think you've put much effort into the logistics of it all.

AGS needs more than a script and puzzle ideas.  It needs art, coding and possibly music.  And ripping sprites and backgrounds is a pathetically lame way of making a game, so that'll mean the folk have to do art as well.  For someone who's not made a game before, learning the coding and drawing all the art is going to take time.  I, and others have been here for ages and not made a game yet.  It's possible to make it with awful graphics, but chances are that will affect the judging, if it came up against a game that looked good.  It's all well and good saying that art and music don't matter, but subconciously they'll affect a persons judgement of a game.

Honestly, I think you'd be better off getting people to make an Interactive Fiction game (Text Adventure).  It's much more suited to a forum for writers.  If people have expressed an interest in making a graphical game, surely they would have looked into it already.  IF would also make for a more level playing field, since graphics and music are really an issue.  There's been IF engines around for as far back as I can remember the internet, so it shouldn't be hard to find a relatively easy one.  It's more than likely much easy to code than an AGS game, too.

Also, you have no idea how much a statement like this annoys me (and probably others):
"The purpose of this contest is NOT who can make the coolest art or compose the best ditties; so rip 'em or nix 'em (stick figures will do)."
Ripping is the lamest form of art. I'd personally rather see scanned in images of crayon drawings as sprites.  At least that requires a modicum of effort.

Good luck and whatnot with the idea, but chances are, I'll avoid all the games made in for this competition.  It sounds harsh, and I apologise for that, but I don't want to waste my time playing something that's been made with a less than half-assed effort.

I already know how to jumble words up.

I don't mind giving folks food poisoning, but I'm certainly not falling out of any trees.

..And since God created everything, and everything is part of God..
God is Hell.

EDIT:

Ergo, God created Satan, the ruler of hell.Ã,  Satan is evil.Ã,  Satan, as part of "everything", is evil.Ã,  As part of everything, Satan is part of God.Ã,  Henceforth, God is part evil.

If God isn't part evil, then something exists outside of God, therefore God isn't what everyone thinks "He" is.

EDIT:

Lilly's a hardcore Christian, and we've had discussions on religion before.  I respect his belief in those, but in no way would I agree with him and in no way would he agree with my views.  That said, he's statement only backs up my point.  God created Hell, therefore God created something that's viewed as "Evil".  Considering God is everything, God made a part of himself evil.  God is not ALL good.

Rock Out!

What's that Stephen? Oh, Jesus, shut up up..Ã,  You're barely qualify as a brother as it is..

EDIT:
I also like to say that most "Christians" believe God is everywhere, and is in everyone.Ã,  And I'll also like to mention the fact that we're all, suppoedly, part of God.Ã,  So, if we go to hell..

What happens?

Do we, and a part of God die completely?Ã,  Or does it mean that part of God goes to hell, and in part becomes not infalliable and entirely good.Ã,  According to most religions that believe in God and believe that God is everywhere, Hell is techinically part of God.Ã,

Now, seriously, if God can be as mean as to have a part of him/her/itself being hell, does that really me he/she/it is so benevolent and kindly towards humanity?Ã,  Surely that means as more and more people die, God becomes more and more evil, or more and more dead.

If Hell is not part of God, then God is not everywhere.Ã,  Therefore God is not infalliable and omnipotent.Ã,  If those two basic beliefs are possibly discounted, then what others can be?Ã,  If it's down to part of God dying a little with every human, how many must die before before we considered God to not be infinite?

I understand that infinity means never ending, but taking one away means that it's inifinity-1.Ã,  Which is not infinity.Ã,  Not unless you're going to take a ridiculous leap of faith and negate every ounce of logic you have left.

There's been more paedophile priests in the news over the years, and since it's happened in predominently Christian areas, I'd assume the news is accurate.  It a Satanist touched a choir boy, the western world would be all over it like a fat kid on a cup cake.

As for "Satanist", it was just an example of a non-mainstream religion that is. on the whole, considered to be a good religion.  Devil-Worshipping or Paganism would have been adequate substitutes.

Rhape, and all the other "Christians"* out there:

You're s'posed to Love Thy Neighbour, right? Does that mean forcing your beliefs onto people who don't want them? Ã, What kind of a reward do you get for a conversion? Ã, I have my own beliefs, and I only explain them if other people ask me. Ã, I don't stand on street corners preaching to people. Ã, I don't bring it up in as many posts and threads as I possibly can.

Fact: Most wars are about religion. Ã, Take this forum, for example. Ã, You mention religious beliefs, and you're bound to get people arguing both sides. Ã, Why can't people see that everyone is entitled to live their life how they want. Ã, (Free Will, a common aspect of most religions). Ã, I don't go telling people what their favorite color is, or whether or not they should like mustard. Ã, Why should they tell me I'm going to suffer enternal damnation for not believing exactly the same thing as them. Ã, Beliefs should be a personal thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying anyone who's religious is a zealot. Ã, I just can't see why the zealots can't let other people live their lives in peace, without telling them how to live. Ã,

Morals is another thing, but that's got nothing to do with religion. Ã, (Some priests molest children. Ã, Most Satanists don't.. Ã, Which is right?). Ã, Morals come from your upbringing and your surroundings. Ã, The undiscovered tribes in the rain forests didn't have Bibles, or Qo'rans (sp) or any other mainstream religious texts. Ã, That doesn't me they were running around being mean to everyone else.

Hopefully, this is the last "I believe this.." thread I see in this forum, because to tell you the truth, I'm sick of hearing about how good or non-existent God is. Ã, Let people decide for themselves.

Also, as to the original post, I personally agree with several points this Paul Harvey made.Ã,  And to conclude my own, he didn't force anyone to agree with him.

EDIT:
*I forgot this originally.  The asterisk is because you can't pin a person down to just being a "Christian", it's always something more precise.

I am, almost probably, possibly definitely, in.
No dates are a problem.  Cash flow is.

dkh.  I would have guessed 7, too. Most people would.  Same as most people would choose 4 if asked to think of a number between 1 and 5.  It's what people perceive to be a random number, but that thanks to everyone thinking the same way, it becomes the most predictable.

Grape, I'm deadly serious.  We need more games like this.  Captain Mostly defied logic and became reknowned.  It's good to see someone who's willing to push the envelope a little.  I, myself, refuse to be constrained my conventional perspective. As did Sam and Max and DOTT.  They're both classics.  If you want to make a game in this style, don't let anyone else tell you it's wrong.

If you like it, go with it.  If you think it can be improved and can't figure out how, ask for help.  As long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.  The same rule has applied for all the respectable artist and musicians thru-out the years.  Picasso, Sonic Youth and all the other can't be wrong, can they?
#355
Perpestive is for losers.  You're on to a winner here.

And God screwed up when he made man.  We should all have ankles as thin as pencils.

I want to play this game so much my eyes hurt.

I soiled myself four times last year.  I'm sure that's a sign of some kind of impending doom.

For some reason this makes me think of my car....

(Not really a pic of my car, can't find my camera, but mine is the same...except it's tan....)

Dart swings? awesome. Ã, Now if onlt she was desperate, too.

And, rhape. It's pointless trying to discipline the little folk in here. If you're going to go on a crusade of almost biblic proportions, you'd better widen your target to the internet as a whole. Ã, If the internet was sodom and gamorra (sp), then ags would be one of the innocent people living on the outskirts who had never ever heard of buggery.

I don't think it was mentioned that Guybrush would start with his own useless insults, like the aforementioned "you fight like a cow"..

That wasn't exactly useless.  "You fight like a dairy farmer." "How appropriate, you fight like a cow."
