Messages - Rex Mundane

So, are we doing this again tomorrow or why is there no post yet?

Wyz - Good room art, not bad game, but for how fiddly the coffee machine is it really needed the label to change over each button.

Radiant - Itd be nice if it worked properly... or had cups

Scarab - Damn nice for a first game. art and scripting are tight, just very short.

bici - Okay, I'm sure you didn't write the song and couldnt have spent less time on the art if you tried, but an impressive secret ending. Had to spend a while working out how you managed it.

Vote bici

Here's my probably unacceptably late entry, 2 cups, 1 cup, and also a shoe.

Hey, I missed AtomicShoe erm... I mean Magma this round :D

Regrettably, I was out celebrating Free Comic Book Day, however I appreciate your concern. In gratitude, you and SuperDude have my vote.

Lot of Not-Really-Adventure games this time.

IndieBoy - Feed the Whale, might have been fun if all the fish weren't darting around like epileptic hallucinations.

tzachs - Never managed to hit the shark with the underwater woofs. What happens if I do?

Wyz - Invisible Walkable Area maze. Interesting. No, wait, the other thing. Tedious.

FSi - Heres a weird problem, Norton keeps telling me that your game is compromising my system and keeps deleting the file, so I can't even try it. No idea why this should be the case, but can't, in good conscience, vote for you.

AngelicCharon - YAY BOOBS! Yet somehow it managed to be even more late than mine was.

Guess I vote IndieBoy

And mine is embarassingly late and utterly disqualified because I had no idea what the code was trying to do. Nevertheless, here it is.

Well okay then, since Steve is the only one to have completed a game this week  (and a fine one at that) he is the winner of this weeks Hourgame and gets the Where's Magma prize-trophy-gif-thing.

*headdesk* goddam time zone converter... as of now its 11:50 est and 16:50 gmt, because I'm stupid as all hell.

Okay, so I have no idea how this will play so here goes: Regular Hourgame rules still apply, everyone who expected it to start 16:00 GMT and is now playing with the theme "Where Magma Went" will finish 17:30 ish as per usual, and everyone waiting for 12:00 est will play with the original theme I was going to do, and will announce momentarily. May end up with a different winner for each of the two themes, or one grand winner who incorporated both somehow... Disregard this, since nobody was left waiting for the 12:00est time.

Kripes but I'm sorry on this one, all, teach me to trust a website to tell the time.

Alright then, barring any potential upcoming objections, HourGame Saturday is on for tomorrow, 16:00 GMT, 12:00 EST, 9:00 PDT. Looking forward to seeing everyone in IRC then.
#51
Dang... would later be better? Last time there were so few entries owing, it seemed, to scheduling conflicts, game started too late for some, don't want to have fixed it so much its too early for others now.

Eep! *fixafixafix*

Hourgame Saturday
What's an hourgame competition?
The purpose of Hourgame Saturday is to encourage amateur game-making, or to put it bluntly, to make you plant your ass in your chair and finally make something.
In this activity your task is to make an AGS game within a strict and very short deadline (i.e. one hour).

When will it take place?
This hourgame session will take place on Saturday April 3, 2010. Per requests last week, the time has changed. Starting at 16:00 GMT (12:00 EST, 09:00 PDT) participants will have an hour to make their games + 15 minutes to beta test / upload (i.e. the deadline is 17:15 GMT).

How do I participate?
A theme is set by the previous week's winner and by the contest's host in event of his/her absence. It will be announced on IRC (3 simple steps to IRC) and here.

Additional info:
- While it is not forbidden for the theme-setters to participate in the activity, their games cannot be voted for (to prevent accusations of cheating and to discourage regular participation).
- Instead, theme-setters are encouraged to draw trophies for the contest's winners.
- Making your game from scratch is strongly encouraged, though it is not forbidden to use music or artwork from public sources if you are allowed to (e.g. using public domain music tracks in your game is OK, but not really necessary). It is also possible to use a pre-existing AGS template for your game (e.g. the Verb-Coin GUI template).
- You cannot use stuff you've made earlier, because this competition is about making something new.

Camwhoring:
If you have Camtasia or Camtasia-esque software, it would be great to see your "Making of"! Or blog about it, or just open Notepad, do something! No twittering.

Uploading:
Suggested hosts to upload your entry to are:
Recommended:
TerranRich's ShutUpload

Not recommended:
http://www.mediafire.com/
http://www.sendspace.com/
http://www.rapidshare.com/

Or your own place.

Voting:
Just tell us your favourite game. You don't have to enter to vote!
(If you want to tell us what you liked and disliked about all the entries, that would be super nice of you!)
The voting will end when all the entrants have voted, or on Wednesday, April 7, whichever comes sooner.

Please post below if you're interested in participating, if the change in time will/won't work for you, or if you have any other questions. There will be a trophy for the winner this week, so be sure to compete for the inspiring glory of 48 by 48 pixels of animated gif-ness.

So, because I can't be trusted to know what time it is and showed up late to my own party, the theme is/was "Where is Magma?" And the winner will receive the coveted "Where is Magma" Trophy seen below.

Magma42's ADVENTURES IN SPACE TIME AND SAFES

ftfy.

Well then, I like Steve's best but he's disqualified. FSi's Heroin Quest is clever enough, but has only the one choice and no graphics to speak of. Vince Twelve's Safe and Sound is... Did I win by doing nothing? Is that even a game then? Ah well, I vote Vince.
#57
Here's my little bit of nonsense.

Later than I wouldve wanted, but in my defense I and m'lady are sick as no fewer than 7.3 dogs at the moment. Looking forward to seeing everyone elses work.
#58
I'm down for this, naturally. Want to try the video thingie too, what program did you use Steve, that got webcam as well as screencast at once?

Was it that obvious? Ah well then, vote goes to Bulba.

Nice wormhole, entertaining monologues. But where's the nuclear footwear?

The shoe and the Smiley are both supposed to be in the painting on the easel, in fact. God help me I don't know what I was trying for, kept trying to shoehorn in this billshut narrative I seem to have going about the shoes and the smileys and prophecies or something, theme o' the week didn't really fit with it that well. Originally the Timetraveler disappears, the wormhole evaporates, and behind it is a full wall mural of the first scene from my first hourgame with the stick figure and whatever...

You know what, I just read the last paragraph that I was just typing out, and have begun to fear for my sanity.

Voting begins then.

Questionable's Untitled Piece - No idea what to do in this one. Looks nice-ish but no direction.

Dataflashsabot's Paint - Like the drawing, music's nice, but no, um, well game there. Nothing to do. I can 'win' by just sitting and watching it.

fsi's Powerelephant - Considering how quickly it was done I think this one is pretty nice only the two things to do in it, but whatever, pretty cool.

kweepa's Painter - Whoa... well, cool 3D effect to be sure, but it seems kind of unnecessary considering every relevant thing is on the one side of the room, to say nothing of being disorienting, and it was all but impossible to find the click point on the brush.

Progz's Timmy's Day out & Wyz's The Painting - Both very nice, follow the same sort of puzzle, nice art, both leave me not sure why you picked the interfaces you did over the default, particularly with Progz which left the chalk all but unclickable,

Bulba's Museum Guard Nightmare - Simple, functional, fun. Honestly no complaints, other than why the piepan starts off unclickable, but you get it by interacting with the painting. bit unintuitive.

Toss up for me between Wyz and Bulba, can't decide, so I'll vote for which of the two of them comes closest to guessing the number I'm thinking of.
