I keep wondering why Case 8 is supposed to be such definite end to the series. I'm curious if at the end Ben will just go on to have many more adventures, or will he pass his paranormal investigator's pants to someone else.

Or maybe he will sacrifice himself to stop the forces of evil and die.

Ben will do something in case 8 that causes an end to all worldwide paranormal activity so cannot in all honesty carry on after that knowing it would all be fake. Then he decides to settle down in Florida as a translator for a legal firm and make games about his earlier life...

DN, you can script that.

Make the plugin pull out various variables from the game like total number of characters, guis, sprites, etc. that would make it harder to fake.

Store the key encrypted in the game and then decrypt at runtime? Any secret key that you give to the user in any form will ultimately be hackable (which is why DRM will always be hackable). All you can do is make it harder than just loading in a text editor.

If what you're trying to achieve is proof that highscores are real, what you should send is a log of the whole game that allows it to be recreated and show that the game was won. The effort involved in faking this is the same as actually winning the game (or buying off someone who has) and you can always then check for duplicates. This is why when I get 500000+ on Bejewelled Blitz I always post the video replay :)

Just to be the worst kind of pedant: in those days Royal Mail was called "General Post Office" :P

Calin, go and read Sophie's World by Jostein Gardener. We don't even need a complex computer to create this situation, just a person with an imagination. Only if the author of our story (or simulation) lets us ask these questions can we think about them, and only if they let us can we ever know the answer, and they themselves.

So perhaps God (or whatever you want to call the being that runs our sim) wrote fiction as a teenager and then made the characters in to a sim. It would explain the reason why nothing much has happened in the last 2000 years, god-wise.

General Discussion / Re: Who gets the money?

Having had accidental credits to my card and then had them "corrected" later, I think its very likely that SC will try and get the money back from B, so B has a big risk in giving A anything.

Did you perhaps accidentally save the old room as a room template?

by the way, why is it OK to throw acid on someone's face but not to kill them! :)

In (Mainland) China when there was a recent disaster (landslide, I think) all the local employees had a mandatory "voluntary" donation automatically docked from their paychecks. They also banned all foreign TV channels for the day, because obviously watching House or True Blood when people died some days before would be in bad taste or something.

However, ANYONE who tries to make a joke on company wide email lists always looks like an idiot to at least 30% of the recipients.

Also, admin assistants are generally more awesome than you realise.

I would also point out that most women feel uncomfortable disrobing and engaging in other personal activities in the presence of people, especially males, who would potentially be sexually gratified by the experience.  However, they are never referred to as being sexist or manaphobic.

So, should all changing rooms that don't have individual cubicles be banned? Should gay kids be banned from doing sports at school?

I would suspect any famous AGSers who are currently in China.

Could you have a Like.dislike button on each rating/review so that people can say which are useful reviews and which ones are just "Dualnames sux, hahahah". Then each user's reviews can be shown with their +/- score so people who can't tell their Leons from their Iceys can get an idea about the reliability of different reviewers?

Opera Mini is pretty awesome when you're stuck with GPRS and no 3G...

In other news, there's a Firefox compatibility helper add-on which turns off the compatibility checking in all the toher plugins if you want.

Is there a minigame where you can stare at Cuddy and make suggestive remarks?
