Thanks for the offer Dualnames, but I think whoever takes over needs to have been a member for a bit longer and demonstrated they have the maturity and commitment to be regular and fair.

Buckethead: Should be pronounced "Bouquet: the ad"

Wireless networks don't achieve their theoritical speed becuase all the data has to be encapsulated in error-correcting/detecting, flow control, etc. etc. which adds a large overhead. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/802.11 has a table which shows the most common 802.11g to have a typical bandwidth of 19MBit/s.

Now, your ADSL or cable connection is unlikely to exceed about 8Mbit/s, so even if your network is only making half that, your ADSL is still the bottleneck. Plus packet overhead, contention ratios on ADSL, ISP traffic shaping, etc. etc is all going to cut down the rate you get there. So for most people wireless is fine.

I'm posting this formallly. Could i take charge on making the pick of the month and not picking my games despite being so overwhelming. Please. I'm not kidding here. I'm asking this seriously. Let me know.

If you make your request grammatically correct so that I can understand it, then I'll consider it...

Oops, sorry for DP

I also select games that have just missed out in the Awards each year. Apart from anything, this makes it easy to find games that are good but not already recognised. So those who want Nelly to get POTM, aim for it coming second in every award!

Its probably generally advisable not to try to redefine built-in constants

The other thing you can do for having semi-protected things in structs in modules is to make an new type in the module script that extends the public module in the header.

One thing I try do do with picks of the month is choose a deserving game that hasn't got a lot of attention. Trevor has had 91 downloads so far in 5 days. Nelly has had nearly 2000 in 3 months. Both have had news items in adventuregamers.com. This maybe doesn't qualify as "not a lot of attention".

Of course, inkjetable transfers are cheap, as are white T-shirts. Make your own.

I'm quite surprised not seeing Princess Marian as a pick of the month at all. ;)

Obviously, it is long overdue, but it would be disingenuous to pick my own game. Which is why I want someone else to take over ;)

Hollywood making terrible book adaptations? Surely not?

Spreadshirt is better as it has local stores in the UK and US

I prefer boobs. Camon guys, which do you notice first, boobs or hair?

Hairy boobs are a big turn-on for me

(c) hardly any daemons.

I'm guessing that the post-production on the movie, which will include all the visual effects such as the CGI daemons, is not yet complete... so lack of daemons in the trailer means very little.

I'm happy to receive suggestions, but this is only the second one I've had in the course of over a year. I will of course give a game a play before I put it up as Game of the Month, although not always to completion...

If anyone else can promise to do it regularly, they are welcome to take over.

The newest AGS beta has built-in source code control integration and ascii-based source files, so should be much more amenable to group coding.

A quick google shows that AnkhSVN and TortoiseSVN might be worthwhile windows subversion clients to try

How about some fake quotes?

"AGS makes me pee" - Tim Schafer

"I love the smell of AGS in the morning" - Ron Gilbert

"AGS? What the heck is THAT?" - Dave Grossman

Sierra and Lucasarts's lovechild

Adventure developers do it with an IDE

The IDE that brought you Larry Values!!1!

8 out of 10 cats preferred it

Better than that Wintermute crap

Leveraging a new paradigm in point-and-click interactive multimedia experiences

I think its a very dangerious organisation as they have such control over people with seemingly limited effort.

Well, you know, CJ hasn't been updating AGS much recently... ;)
