Whenever someone gets a name wrong, he unleashes a demon which tortures the souls of dead adventure characters  :(

You're so right

On Monday, sometime around 8 to 8.30pm GMT (not sure exactly when) there will be a skypecast of the AGS Awards nominations. Be there or be square! Make sure you've got a reasonably recent skype, and go here:

AGS Awards 2006 skypecast

SHOCK TEASER: One game that I'm sure most people were expecting to have lots of nominations has entirely failed to have any, despite getting 67 votes across the various categories.

Well, glibc will get linked the same way as all the other libraries: there's no special handling of it. But yes, it is a 19 or 20M download. Still, 20M is not as big as it used to be ;)

That seems like a good solution, favabean. It should even be possible for someone else than EvilTypeGuy to package it up...

Sorry to sound like we're getting at you, EvilType... you've done a great job updating this, and thanks!

You can transfer sprites to another game in 3 ways, none of which are ideal but you may not have considered:

1. Put the sprites in a dummy view(s), put the view(s) as the normal/talking/blinking view of a dummy character, export the character

2. Similarly, with a GUI

3. Use the clipboard.

There are maximum...

   20  objects per room
100  messages per room: these are interaction editor messages, not script strings
500  global messages: again, not script strings, see the global messages pane
299  rooms per game (actually more, but rooms>300 do not have their state saved)
  300  inventory items
15000  imported sprites
  240  sprites per folder
  600  views
   16  loops per view
   20  frames in each loop
  300  characters
   50  GUIs
   30  controls on each GUI
500  dialog topics (for dialog editor: you can do more manually with scripting)
3000  dialog-script messages (you can do more manually with scripting)
   30  options per topic
20  screen overlays at a time
500  script GlobalInts (you can make your own named global ints with scripting)
50  script GlobalStrings (you can make your own named global Strings with scripting)
100  interaction editor global variables (you can make your own named global ints with scripting)
    5  background frames per room
   20  mouse cursors

Would it be very hard to provide both a statically and dynamically linked version?
#1808
There are no limits to the amount of script you can have.
#1809
well, I hope you follow it by some brackets, quotes and something for him to say. I also hope that you have a character called "Ego"...

#1810
It depends on how you code it. You could make the button press run a dialog, or some script code, or display messages, etc. It's entirely up to you, so it really is limited only by your programming ability...!

Unless vict0r is yahtzee in disguise?

An inspired mini-review! "kooky" used twice and "madcap antics" twice too. Those kooky professional journalists and their madcap antics!

Congrats for your deserved mention in print though, Mordy

I just realised that I have been confusing for a very long time Ponch and Potch. I demand that one of you immediately change your name to be less similar!  >:( ::) ??? :-[

Hopefully when the nominations are announced, I will make a download of all the major games (or the demos thereof for any commercial games nominated) in one handy lump available. This will not include the Al Emmo demo, if it gets nominated for anything, which is about 250M on its own, but current indications look like the non-Al pack would be around 280M. It also will not include the booby-prize games which you're invited to suffer at your leisure. Hopefully we can make the download available by torrent.
#1815
You should update the Blackwell AGS games database page to download the demo, Dave...  ;D

So... the kind of monopoly where you have a choice...

Neither Microsoft nor Apple have monopolies, the problem is that they are TRYING to...
