If only Barn Runner met the "no naughty pictures" rule....

Hey folks,

You may have noticed but I have less and less time to do blog stuff these days, so if anyone would like to take over being the main AGS Blogger, I'd love to hear from you. Of course, if there are multiple volunteers then that could work too and you can share the load! Anyway, PM me and include your google account or email  so I can invite you to be a contributor.

There are not many rules, but the blog does tend to be "Safe for Work" so no cussin' or naughty pictures, please, and nothing likely to get us sued (e.g. illegal download links or libelous accusations) !

In terms of automating it, could the thread author put something like [DBID=1234] in the thread title to get it automatically linked to the games DB?

Also, sounds like an auto-space-trim feature would help, but I haven't used it in anger myself yet.

Together with SSH's modules, monkey's codeworks were my main source of learning some proper AGS scripting.

Thanks for the call out. Of course, I effectively stopped doing anything useful in AGSland except a once-monthly twitter-sized blog post when i feel guilty about not posting for a month. But I didn't tell anyone I was going to do it in advance! So at least Mr Monkey left things in a decent state.

Theoretically it's impossible to stop distribution once you start it as a freeware (or a free mp3), and this is where CC licenses come in: They mention what we all know: That anything downloaded under the CC license REMAINS as such and can be redistributable. That's why I never liked CC!

The point is that regardless of what you offer and how you offer it, it doesn't take away your legal rights on the art item! You will have an extremely hard time implementing your wishes to anything freeware, but it IS yours legally.

You can't prevent redistribution whether you offer if for free or not. DRM may make it slightly harder but it doesn't stop it. CC is simply recognizing this fact but (optionally) providing a legal framework to enforce the prevention of commercial gain, derived works and unattributed use.

There are legal ways to run Linux and Windows on a Mac if yo uneed to, but no legal way to run MacOS on anything not made by Apple. But then you pay double for the Mac. My only general piece of advice: get twice as much memory as you think you'll need, whatever you go for.
