Why didn't you mention that to start with?   ::)

Turn off the inventory window, display your text, then turn it back on (if you want it to stay on). Or put the text on a gui with a higher Z property

You have copyright protection automatically on anything you publish. It is up to you to defend that in court, but to be honest, I don't think anyone has ever really ripped anyone off directly in AGS like that.

Yes. RTFM and stop making so many different threads.
#2005
Stop making a new thread for each individual problem?

What did you change from and to? You need to have talking views defined for characters if you want to see much of a difference.

Since interaction scripts are in the global script, you should use Global messages for any Dsiplay message commands. Although if you're using a script function you may as well say,

Display("It's a very interesting inventory item");

1.Do anybody knows if there is possible to have user-defined general variables ?
Yes, of course. Look it up in the BFAQ or manual.

2. if I use a local variable, where must I define her ? In HELPO I see that it is to be defined in a specific room. But then it comes the next problem - see question 3.
You can have variables local to a function or local to a room. I assume you mean the latter.

3. Local variable: if I give a value to the local variable in the game and I get out of the room, when I return to the room, will I find the value that I expect to my variable or must I use a Global Variable ? I mean, I I have define a variable in the strat of the room, when I re-enter the room the variable will be reset. Or not ? What if I initialise the varible  (int my_counter = 4).

The room state is saved for the first 300 rooms.

4. The SAVE command save also the values for local variables ?

Yes

You can get AGS to list dialog options in reverse order, and so if you put your "Goodbye" option first, you need never remove it...

By game company do you mean any silly teen who decides to call himself a company, or are you more picky? Why not just look at the AGS games pages..?

General Discussion / Re: Any Jamaicans here?

I once took my wife to the Carribean for a holiday...

Spoiler

Jamaica?

No, she went of her own accord!

But I did do a terrible Jamaican accent in Pixel Hunt...

Would they debate how female the candidates are if both were women? 'Cause I always thought that Hillary was a bit manly...

It would be great if both the Republicans and Democrats had women candidates in 2008... Or both had black candidates... it would force the bigots into a dilemma.

Didn't the Olsen twins do a pirate song? And Cher?

My photos:

One of the beautiful sights for visitors to Sunderland
AGA and Davy try to collect every number of sugar packet
The collection... only 2 missing!
AGA's maggot pie
Travel all that way, just to log in to the forums...
Teh CeeJ arrives, fully of energy
AGA gets ready to blend in with the locals
Is that a bonfire or the remains of a burnt out car?
The bonfirittenites admire the fire
spleen tells everyone how he could have battered them pesky kids...

If you set Game.Vsync to 1 then you do need a wait (or to fall out of rep_ex)

Ummm, no-one actually seems to have looked at the wiki page I referenced at the beginning, as they are arguing over stuff that is not based on last year's category names. So, for you people too lazy to click on a link, here are the categories we had last time:

Best Game Created with AGS
Best Gameplay
Best Story
Best Dialogue Writing
Best Puzzles
Best Player Character
Best Non-Player Character
Best Background Art
Best Character Art
Best Animation
Best Programming
Best Use of Sound
Best Music
Best Documentation
Best Short Game
Best Demo
Best Non-Adventure Game Created with AGS
Best AGS Resource
The P3N1S Award (Worst AGS Game)
Lifetime achievement award

And so far, I think I'm leaning towards one extra award, decided by a committee after public nominations, for Most Innovative use of AGS which will cover innovative games, modules, plugins, non-adventures, etc.

Gargoyle Games' Tir na Nog could be argued to be an adventure game and was very innovative for its day (1985).
#2019
er... Loom, anyone?

Because you release the character view straight away, the animation stops. Do you really want the animation of the character not to block?
