bow is (at least) two different adjectives, three different nouns and a verb. It is also a homophone of both bo and bough!

I like that in Chinese the word that means "head" is pronounced "toe".

The advantage of having some game logic on the server side is that it can be used as copy protection and prevent cheating by reverse engineering. The disadvantage is that you need a working connection to play. Maybe a way in which the connection was only used rarely (savegames, changing chapters, changing rooms) might be best?

If you listen to Celine Dion's Titanic song, one line sounds like "I believe that the hot dogs go on" :=

In Chinese, which I'm currently studying, there are things that sound like homophones to foreigners but sound completely different to the Chinese ear. Like, with the different tones, and zh and j both pronounced "j", sh and x both pronounced "sh", etc.

And in Spanish b and v are pronounced the same, which means that many homophones are not homographs.

Lighten up, dudes! I'm not offended, I just think some of the "advice" given was a bit silly. Some of it was meant to be, so thats fine.

And for the next year, the Great Wall is cheaper for me...

Check out http://code.google.com/p/js-gam/

There was another javascript proof of concept called "Nature Boy" with a doom sprite walking around a desktop but I can't find it again...

And how does posting a picture of us on the Great Wall put my kids at risk, exactly?

Depends what you mean, really. I don't think that there's anywhere that matches the sounds of words other than rhyming dictionaries, but they are usually single language.

I'm guessing this is for a puzzle in a game, so you don't want to give more details...

However, there are usually various of these things:

Homonyms are words that are written and pronounced the same with different meanings "right" (not left) and "right" (nor wrong)
Homographs are ones that are written the same but prounced differently "bow" (bend over) and "bow" (fires arrows)
Homophones sound the same but are written differently "bow" and "bough"
Homophobes look reasonable but sound unreasonable

Sorry, bici, don't have that stored. I see that in my blog it was 110 a while before voting closed, so it was probably around the same number in the end.

During the week, I'm only likely to be on during USA "very very early morning". But at weekends, I might be on around USA evening time.

Shurely then, it means it is no longer unique...  8)

I have a Wii but i don't have mario cart, i  played it once but the motion control sucked donkey ass.

There's 3 different ways to control it. Which did you use?

You probably need to sync them: press the red button under the flap on the Wii front while pressign the red button inside the battery cover on the remote.

Objects are always drawn in their Y order, unless you deliberately change the baseline to a different value. Or you can use the "z" parameter for height: it draws the object at y+z but the baseline remains at y.

If you have something that will ALWAYS be on top, you can use a GUI for it instead.

Of course, currently this only actually adds Mac compatibility...

Anyone tried this with Moonlight 3 beta? I will give it a go soon...

I wasn't able to be on the ceremony, but I read the log file. I didn't expect Cosmos Quest 3 to win any award (for best voice work or best documentation), because to be honest the CQ3 has only one voice act and also the game documentation is not that rich. But I didn't like the behaving of some of the people and their speaking for P...S AWARDS.

Which is exactly why I stopped having that award. It insults people and can hurt their feelings for the sake of a cheap laugh. While I may disagree with the behaviour of people in the games DB (or in IRC) I don't thinks that means its OK to go all ad hominem on their ass. Of course, that doesn't mean that I'm innocent in this respect, but generally if you attack a person you look like an idioit yourself.

Odd stat:

Apart from Mash's involvement with TGP and The Marionette winning Best Demo previously, I think all of out winners this year were first-time winners!
