My method of getting more nominees was bugging people in PMs, IRC, Tokbox, Stickam, etc. until they gave in or deserted the forums forever.

I'll send you the comprimising photos that I used to blackmail people in to voting, if that helps.

Have you set up the program to use for editing the sprites in the AGS preferences? Becuase that looks to be that AGS is trying to launch your sprite editor program when you double click a sprite and its perhaps not configured properly if you're only just upgrading?

The sad thing is I saw Dual's list and for most of the people on it I thought "They're not an old-timer"  ;D

Still, I'm an old man halfway to his three-score-and-ten, so everyone's a n00b to me, despite me myself being 3 years late to the AGS party.

1. People are greedy
2. Capitalism relies on #1 being true to work properly
3. Communism relies on #1 being false to work properly
4. Capitalism works better than most alternatives that have been tried on a countrywide scale

Capitalism is somewhat independent of most forms of government although it works better when there is a low risk of revolutions. Democracy reduces the risk of revolution by making people think they can change who is in power (whether they actually can or not is beside the point). Another way of reducing risk of revolution is to stifle it, which works when most educated people are getting richer and don't want to rock the money boat (as in some tiger economies).

Capitalism also has the anti-revolutionary attribute of making poorer people feel that its somehow their own fault. And yet things like lotteries and game shows give them a faint hope of undeserved gain and so they don't get too depressed or antsy.

We are very accommodating of newbies providing they are courteous and sensible.

... says the n00b ;)

    mygame.exe /setup

It already can! Nearly:

mygames.exe --setup is what works

Quote
I would also suggest that the setup program be script accessible  via built-in functions such as

AgsSetup()   - open the winsetup.exe dialog and allow the user to edit the settings.

AgsReboot() - use new settings saved in config file mygame.cfg (i.e. restart at current point in game)

In other words, a bit like this: http://ssh.me.uk/moddoc/GameSetup.zip

My Hypertext module has a strikethrough option:

Hypertext.SetPrefixStyle('-', fontnum, eHypertextSpecial_Strikethrough);

and then you just use Hypertext.ShowOnButton(questButtonThree, "-Struck through text-") to apply. Although, I haven't tested it on very recent AGSes.

Ah, this is what the painting part of the Walkcycle generator should have been. I really should get round to updating that properly. I see that it gets used, though.

So, when you adding onion-skinning, layers and animation, Steve? ;)

Sounds like the teacher has been reading Wikipedia's own rules for citations!

If he doesn't accept any internet information whatsoever then you can't really do AGS as 99.99% of info on it is web-only. But actually, the AGS wikipedia page was threatened with deletion at one point and so as many real-world references were added as possible. If you look through the references on the wikipedia page you may find something more acceptable.

But your teacher is an idiot. What if your speech was on, say, Numa Numa. Try researching that without referencing the internet.

First rule of research: at least TRY looking it up in Wikipedia and google:

By the way, its "a mite frisky" not "a might frisky".  :=

So, apparently MS Remote Desktop has Linux, Android and iPhone clients too but you'll have to pay for them (on android and iphone at least) unlike VNC

There are algorithms to reduce bandwidth: only updating relevant bits of screen, etc. but yes a full screen change would probably be bandwidth hungry. But you do know that the iplayer and youtube do HD video over the net now, right? :) Of course, you wouldn't want to do it over dialup but then only people living in really remote parts are stuck on dialup ;)

Its probably not great for most games although adventures are probably better than most genres. It can be a bit jerky and laggy sometimes, too.

With VNC you run a server on your PC (
http://wwww.uvnc.com/

Then you run the viewer on your phone or PC (android, iphone, etc. all exist)
http://code.google.com/p/android-vnc-viewer/

And the screen/keystrokes/mouse movements are transmitted back and forth over the internet. You need may need to check your IP address each time you use it unless you've paid your ISP for a static one.

AFAIK Remote Desktop only is for Windows-Windows

If this is solved, can we change the topic title to include [SOLVED], please?

Also, might be worth addign a wiki page. Not that anyone reads it... :)

Best awards ceremony award?

You could always have a Windows PC running the game and VNC and then connect to the PC via a VNC viewer app.

Meanwhile, SSH secretly plans to develop and adventure game that runs under Android...

No hostility, just a lot of Sambuca ;) Sorry. I was getting overly defensive about the characters in the logo thing - but that's all! Whatever happens will be fine. Until someone buys me some jaegerbombs..... I totally get your points why it's not such a significant part of the design to some people, I'm not mad at you or anything for that :P I just like quirky web-design over corporate looking stuff which I thought the mini-character logo had. You know I think you've done a great job with the website! The sooner it goes up the better :)

Your forum rage level does seem to be directly proportional to the quantity of alchohol in your bloodstream....  :=

Isn't smooth scrolling what this module does?

Do you want the rain to all have the same transparency? If so, why not use a semi-transparent GUI with a sprite on it?
