Ooops, sorry, I could have told you most of that staright away but I've been away... since I wrote the tutorial.

Actually, if you look at the source code for the game Pixel Hunt, there is a 2.7 compatible version of the same code.

Rescue the fish from the floating eyeball of doom!

Approach floating eyeball's castle

fish is visble at the window of the very very very tall tower. Need some way to scale the tower

Go to nearby village. In shop, shopkeeper has a rope and a hook for sale, but you have no money, just a sword.

Shopkeeper says he will exchange the rope for the sword, but not the hook.

Do the exchange

Other guy enters shop, and you explain your problem. He says that he'll buy your sword for enough money to buy the rope and the hook.

Talk to shopkeeper again. Offer to exchange rope for sword. He says, no, he always has to make a profit. The least he'd accept for a fine sword such as this is a portable TV.

Fuming with anger, storm out of shop and walk past the local wishing well. Small child stands beside well, crying

Ask child what is wrong. He says that some big boys threw his sock down the well. Ask for reward from child in return for retrieiving sock, he bursts into more tears. "Tough kid, thats how things work: no seemingly useless object that will turn out to come in handy later in return for your sock and I won't do it. Sorry, its not me, its adventurer union rules..."

Kid says, "well, there's all the other of my socks that they threw down there: every day for the last 4 years".

Tie rope to well, climb down, get the socks, climb up again. Give socks to kid, he lets you have one. Untie rope again.

Explrring village, see an old man watching a portable TV, with his manky feet up on a stool. Ask him to have the TV. "No, sonny, got to have something to keep me entertained". "How about sock puppets?" "Oh, I love those". Use sock as puppet. He's entertained, but as soon as you try to go off with nthe TV, he wants the sock puppet back again. Need some way to keep the sock puppet going without staying there. Try to put the sock on his feet, but they are too disgusting to touch.

Old man's neighbour is a lady baking rock cakes. She's using oven gloves on the cooker. Talk to her and ask for glove. She says she cant let you have it as she's baking rock cakes for her son. Go and see son: he's using rock cakes as a hammer on some nails, but they dont last very long, so he keeps going through them.

Go back to old mans house and ask to borrow his hammer. Take hammer to son of neighbour, who then stops using the rock cakes. Lasy let you borrow oven glove which allows you to put the sock on th eold man's foot. No wthe old man is entertained, so you can take the TV, which you give to the shopkeeper who lets you have the sword, which you give to the other guy in the shop who gives you the money to buy the hook!

Combine rope and hook.

Go back to castle, throw rope/hook combination at high window to climb up and rescue fish. Hook accidentally impales fish in the process....

And in this country they use eyeballs for currency  :P

I am rubbish at drawing too, but if you take some time to follow some of the tutorials in the Critics Loung, you can improve a lot. Or find a logical explanation for the way your graphics are... make "Scribble world" where everyone's a scribble, or do what I did with Pixel Hunt and make the characters all squares with no features, except a mouth when they talk. In fact, since I made the source code of PH available, why not download it and make a sequel.

No, CJ has said that he doesn't give out source code. The SCUMMVM page has this in their FAQ, I think.

AGS is now supported for every platform that Allegro supports, so I would guess that there wont be any new ones until Allegro support improves.

However, many PDAs can run Embedded Linux: Sharp Zaurus by defautl, but iPAQs can too, which is probably a much better bet, so we just need someone to recompile allegro linux and GAS for XScale, and who knows?

} else {

Thats a much better trailer, yay! I was getting worried after I saw the first one.

Actually, now she is following the Dr Bernstein diet (see Amazon for his books) which is a very-very-low carb diet. I mean, she takes cream in tea instead of milk becuase it has slightly less carbs! Atkins to the max.

It seems to work most of the time, but she does get a bit depressed about it sometimes, pigs out and then gets her sugars too high. But she is able to control it most of the time without any insulin at all, evenr though they think she has type 1. Wierd.

As I said earlier on IRC and so you don't forget ;)

if your collsion detect areas it were pure rectangle it would probably be easiest just to do

if (x1 < x2 + 10) && (x1 > x2 - 10) && ( y1 > y2-5) && y1 < y2+5

or something like that

Inspired by Kinoko's ice cream lustings, I felt I ode it to coffee:

Oh! Beans of Java!
Rich arabica aroma
I drink eagerly
#3571
You do know that despite your best intentions to leave some pizza for tomorrow, you are going to eat the whole thing AND the icecream, too  :=
#3572
But, Kinoko, how else are kids going to tell their parents to come and pick them up in their SUVs?  ;)

I get cravings to play Civilisation, but thats about it...

Try using a different globalint numbe, or use a specifically named global var, Try putting a Wait(1) after the setglobalint....

Progamming history is littered with "Yes, I'm sure that bit works, I haven't changed it at all since it was working apart from.... oh, ah, hmmm, OK"

Double-check your brackets: maybe you've accidnetally moved the code inside an "if".

Have you tried single-stepping through the code?

#3575
Maybe you need to check if the FaceCharacter is blocking or not: do you have the turning game parameter on? Maybe you need to use the player.FaceCharacter instead, so you can set it non-blocking?

General Discussion / Re: G8 Summit
Fri 08/07/2005 10:21:20
I heard this morning that Bush would consider scrapping US farm subsidies if teh EU got rid of theirs. There is no justification whatsoever for EU farm subsidies... not only do they constitute a huge waste of most of the EU budget (and therefore come from all EU citizens' taxes) but they actually screw up the food markets of the whole world and impoverish third-world farmers.

Come on Chirac, do the right thing!
#3578
Now all hope of the scrapping of the EU Common Agricultural Subsidy Policy is lost as Chirac will be intent on scuppering everything at the G8.

It's the Finnish I feel sorry for: Chirac said that they were worse than the UK at food!

B.  Yes, you can, but it gets cumbersome working with those.  I guess the real reason I wanted this was for string arrays (which aren't supported.)

Put a char[200] in a struct and have an arrayof those structs, voila... string arrays
