General Discussion / Re: Jorge Drexler... yay!

Darth, do you think that if an animated movie was good enough, it should be allowed to enter into the Best Picture category?

Also, the Foreign Langauge movies are judged very differently from the other movies, I beleive: its a small commitee not the whole academy who votes on them. I might be wrong on this, maybe thats just nominations. This is to stop a high profile FL movie from getting unfair "ignorant" votes from members who couldn't be bothered watching the other ones.

Also, why are you so scared: its not as if they've had a huge success rate in any of the main categories. Let's face it, its a novelty when a British or Australian film gets nominated, let alone a Uruguayan one.

But,I see your point: bring back those heady days when awards were won by Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Attenborough, Richard Burton, Donald Sutherland, Lawrence Olivier, oh hang on, none of them are american!

Congratulations to the other authors, too, becuase all the games were good this month... maybe next time you guys enter try getting more testers and voice actors in your credits, as they will tend to vote for you  ;)  I really enjoyed both of the other games, and would not have felt hard done by to lose to either of them.

Looking good! I'd really like to see how this all works!

If you are displaying the savegame names with a GUI label, then you might do better to use two labels to allow the alignment to work. If using a listbox, then you're up copper wine creek without a postman.

Yeah, I know what you guys all mean: I find that after playing Japanese love simulations....
#3749
Well, it's always possible to script up such things yourself. finding if a point is insdie a triangle is very easy, if you have 3 directed lines, just make sure the point is always to the left or to the right. Or, you could make them different colours and use RawGetPixelAt(x, y)

If you encounter a crash, please post the entire error message!

Maybe I can add something that will check for this, and also handle savegames without screenshots better...

but glad you got it sorted and that my tutorial is ok

Of course, if you don't have time to play MI2, you dont have time to make a game. A MAGS game takes a month and they are usually small and a bit rushed. Games take AGES to do (except Princess Marian ones ;) ) And by asking for all this help you are implying that your time is far more valuable than ours, which is insulting (and probably inaccurate). Get your lazy butt to work.

Not always. Here again we come to the problem of assumptions. People assume that a game cannot be done well if it takes very little time to make it. Clearly this is incorrect

why is it clear?

I imagine it would be possible to make a good game within a week. It would certainly be different to what we commonly expect from adventure games, but it could still certainly be of good quality.

imagine is the point: i've worked on 8 more games than you!  OK, there are hour games and some of them are good, but, for example, most original backgrounds take longer than that to draw...

I forget: are the authors allowed to vote? (for their own games?)

Also, Klaus, you've linked to the source code on the MAGS site, not the game: http://www.ssh.me.uk/pixelhunt.zip

Just in case that fix didn't work (which I realise now that it might not) I've uploaded v1.02
#3756
Hollowman, that should be fixed in v1.01.... what version number does it say on yours (bottom left of main gui)

#3757
If you use your imagination you can create a game where you don't need to be able to draw, animate or anything. FOr example [advert] my new MAGS game where the characters are pixels and so they are all featureless squares.... [/advert]

Feel free to download the source of the game and use that "universe" in your own game, or even the same characters. Hope that you like Object Oriented scripting!

Spoiler

The seige occurs if you defenestrate yourself

It should be worth replaying to experience the various endings and stuff. For example, did you use the phone before you left? Did you see the siege?
