But its no problem doing the raised hand thing if yoiu use a decent layered gfx program, like PSP, PS or GIMP.

Now you're being silly. Conchie was just my imaginary friend!

As many of you know, SSH stands for "Secure Shell" , a secure version of telnet kinda thing.

When I was small, we were so poor that I didn't have a security blanket or toy, I just had a conch shell that I found on the beach one day (my parents sent me to the beach every day to see in anything valuable had washed up that they could sell or pawn, this despite the fact that we lived 50 miles inland). So "conchie" was my constant childhood companion, and often my only friend. When I was 7, Sir Clive Sinclair invented a cheap home computer and so this replaced conchie as my best friend, but I never forgot him. My forum name is thus a memorial to good old conchie, a loyal friend and good listener, even though all he ever replied with were constant sea impressions.

After all, that @ symbol was taking up precious space on the keyboard...might as well have used it for something.\

Betcha also didn't know that & is designed to look like "Et" and the word "ampersand" is derived from "And per se and". What that means, I haven't the faintest clue.

I did, and this is WHY:

When printers had to lay out movable type by hand, there was usually one guy setting the lead letters in the correct place on the plate for printing, and one guy would help him by finding the letters in the big box of letters for that font. So, the typesetter would say "L and O and L and Space and O and M and F and G and And and ..." for "LOL OMFG&". Obviously "And and and" is a bit confusuing, so for the and which referred to the "&" character, he would say "and, per se, and".

SO there you go.

Maybe if one of the game statistics that could be displayed in the editor was the average compression ratio achieved, using AGS's internal compression, on all sprites in a game people would stop worrying so much about thing like this. ANd after all, you can probably save a lot more memory by doing your game in 320x200 8-bit than by this method.

What I mean is... you can still use room scripts, even if you dont use ProcessClick and the interaction editor.
#4087
I wouldn't want to give too much away, in case Radiant doesn't want to let his secrets out, but it is possible to write a global script AND room scripts in such a way that you DONT need to go through adding run script for everything. This is what we have for the FOY demo...

And Gobbler could be voiced in the speech pack by Mel Gibson.... just like Chicken Run!

Additional items: Plane phone, Gun

Starting with credit card and Lighter, you look around your seat:

take MAGAZINES and (used) THROW_UP BAG from seat pocket
try to crawl under your own seat: LIFE JACKET is in the way. Take LIFE JACKET
crawl under seats to back of your (economy, of course) section. On the way, lying on the floor are 100 DOLLAR BILL (whose owner is too scraed to move to pick it up), PEN, CANDY. Pick all these up.
Behind last row of seats are 2 plane phones. You try to take one PLANE PHONE, but it is too risky that your hand will be seen.
However, looking at plane phone will let you take a note o f the phone numbers withPEN on MAGAZINE.
There is also a smoke/heat detector.
use LIGHTER on MAGAZINES (or 100 DOLLAR BILL) .. fire gets out of control and you leap into aisle to escape it. Get shot and plane goes down in flames. You lose.
restore saved game
use LIGHTER on deetctor... the heat sets off the alarm safely, creating a distraction. You the  take PLANE PHONE and nip around the corner into the kitchen/tiolet area
go into toilet... toilet occupied light goes on and hijakcers riddle the toilet with bullets. You lose.
Restore game.
Need way to keep door open. Kitchen has FIRE EXTINGUISHER. Take it and use FIRE EXTINGUISHER on TOILET DOOR
Enter toilet. With door open too noisy to try and call for help on PLANE PHONE,  they would hear you.
Take TOILET PAPER and FIRST AID KIT from toilet.
Back in the galley, search some more and find the drinks/food trolleys locked away. use CREDIT CARD on lock and unlock the trolley.
Now wait for hijacker in economy section to be in the aisle. Push trolley down aisle, knocking him to his feet. Jump over trolley and tie up bad guy with his own KEY CHAIN. Take bad guy's GUN.
In next toilet section, use FIRST AID KIT to jam open doors and take more TOILET PAPER. Use MAGAZINES and TOILET PAPER on  LIFE JACKET to make a bulky, but effective on small weapons BULLET-PROOF VEST. Wear VEST.
Wait for business-class hijack guy to be walking away from you, run at him. He has time to get one shot off, which destroys your BULLET PROOF VEST but absorbs all the impact, so you are unhurt. Shoot hijacker with GUN.
The cockpit door is locked and talking to the business class passengers reveals that there are two men inside, one piloting the plane.
Call the the other plane phone with your  PLANE PHONE. One hijacker comes out to investigate. Shoot/knock him out.
Enter the cockpit. If trying to go near the pilot, he swerves then plane all over the placeand you fall over. If you shoot him, he slumps ofrward onto the controls and the plane dives into the ground before you can get him out of his seat.
Throw THROW-UP BAG at windscreen, wher eht e puke splatters the screen. Pilot stands up to wipe it off, whereupon you can attack him and subdue him.
However, now there is no pilot....
Serach cockpit lockers and find captian handcuffed in there. He says that one of the hijackers swallowed the key.
Try to disembowell each hijacker using CREDIT  CARD (as no sharp obejcts allowed on planes these days)... fails
However, a mother with a young child is changing its nappy and she has BABY OIL.
Apply BABY OIL to handcuffs and pilot can get his hands free.
Pilot lands plane and you are the hero! eat CANDY to celebrate.

Strange that there didn't seem to be much on 9/11 in America becuase there was plenty on TV here in the UK. Including a program about the "REAL" conspiracies that did 9/11 and tired to frame Osama for it  ::)

Anyway, the difference between the terrorist mindset and everyone else outside America is that the terrorists hate all americans becuase of their arrogance, pervading culture, imperialism, hypocrisy and the war on iraq. Eveyone else only hates Republicans, but for the same reasons.

Or you could use Audacity and let Adobe employees starve LEGALLY!

In the industry I work in the typical R&D model for the largest companies works like this:

1. Some of the employees of one of the top 3 companies have an idea about how to do the product better
2. They leave the company and make a start-up that implements their idea
3. Their compelling improvement in quality of results mean that one of the big three buys them up, giving lots of money to shareholders (including the guys who had the ideas)
4. Some of the employees of what is now part of one of the top 3 companies have an idea about how to do the product better...

In the company I work for's 15-or-so year history, it has made around 100 acquisitions, I believe. It is number one in revenue in the sector. The number 2 company has made a similar number of acquisitions...

So, are Counterstrike and Quake counted as adventures, too, now?  ;)

Presumably, you're using Mozilla, in which case, try http://prefbar.mozdev.org/ which makes it easy to spoof yourself as MSIE. You can also modify the string directly if you pount your browser to about:config.   (I would have made this a link, but YABBSE insisits on sticking http: in front...)

Opera has spoofing by default.

Congrats guys, I'm sure you'll do a good job. He probably forgot to mention it, but part of your responsibility is to badger CJ into updating AGS more often, you know  ;)

Off-hand I can't think of any Englishman who'd fit the bill, possibly Johnny Lee Miller who played Sick Boy in Trainspotting.

The one thing that this thread has shown conclusively is that some people are really ignornat as to the differenences between Scottish, English and British. JLM is Scottish, for goodness sake, wasn't Trainspotting a clue?

And Name of the Rose and Untouchables weren't bond movies... they were Sean movies

This article is very inaccurate, and furthermore, irrelevent to what I posted.

It was simply quoting what was in the MI5 archives...

But how does this directly relate with the Arab-Israeli conflict and what I said, SSH?

Wasn't my "own little skrimish" started when Arabs refused to accept the UN's diplomatic solution of the conflict back in 1947?

No, the current Israeli - Palestinian conflict dates back before then, during which time there were Isreali terrorist acts and ultimately Isreal gained statehood. My point was that this was a case were terrorism worked.

Also,  it might be fairer to say "Wasn't my "own little skrimish" started when a majority of the population and and a majority of non-state landowners refused to accept the UN's diplomaticly pressured by the USA proposalof the conflict back in 1947?", although, if the Arabs HAD accepted it, would Israel then have NOT gone on to occupy huge areas NOT par tof the 1947 resolution? I'm skeptical...
