You've never seen Unilin on #ags because you're a n00b.

Indeed, but even so, teh AGS Dictionary entry:

Quote
WIEDMAN, CHRISTOPHER
(Unilin) AGS-member, most known for his low activity on the boards, but constant presence at the IRC-channel.

is inaccurate, as he is not constantly present

From the sounds of the Migs/Mandarb site that will be coming soon, you can do both, foz: let people have the source and also not create another resource site!

General Discussion / Re: Americanisation?
Thu 03/06/2004 16:47:10
A lot of "Americanisms" in the English langauge are actually where the Americans have stuck with the language how it was when they colonisation started and the UK is the one that has changed it's usage... reading Bill Bryson's Made in America and Mother Tongue are revealing...

But... America has so much power over the rest of the world, that I think that we should get to vote in their elections, too. NO DOMINATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!

Doctor Denial is weird funny rather than humourous funny... it doesn't really remind me of Dr No. Maybe Doctor Dunno would be better...

Kennedy.

AGA appears not to know the meaning of the word "from" unless Kennedy is the name of Swansea Interntaional Airport...  :P

Does the Doctor Dodge the Draft Dodger? or D5 for short?

or Draft Dodger Denies Doctor...
#4269
So with anti-glide turned on, a character with a two-frame animation moves at half the speed of an object, or one-frame character, etc.?

#4270
"The Draft Dodger versus Dr No"
or
"Hell, Dr No, we won't go" (Hell No, We won't go was an anti-vietnam chant)

#4271
In the manual it says that MoveObject speeds use the "same scale" as that for characters, but if you try it, the objects move quite a lot faster than an equivalent character... why is this, and can we stop it, please?

I had an idea for a way to slow down the objects, though... have an invisible object "leading the way", stop it every (few?) rep_ex and take note of it's position. Wait the required extra delay, set the Real Object TM to that position and then re-start it moving again. Saves writing you rown pathfinder...

I wasn't going to say anything, but I might as well.Ã,  I'm working on a new web site with Darth Mandarb where people can upload their game resources to share with everyone.Ã,  Actually, it's nearly functional already, but we're going to add a few more features and make it look spiffy.Ã,  Hopefully, the site will be ready for launch in no more than a few weeks.

Not that I want to complain about people sharing, but...

AAAAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

This is now the third sit eannounced in as many weeks... juncsource, Minimi's stuff and now this. Fair enough that you guys want to do your own thing, but can't you come to some agreement where you can all have your stuff on one greta big unified resource site? Pleeeeeease?

Truth be told, the rest of the world is equally capable of ignorance and stupidity.

But when the Americans do it, they do it with the largest and most powerful economy and army in the world...

Nah, it's not a good idea, cause in the Japanese version, Harry was a ninja robot that had to fight a tentacle monster that was raping all the Hogwarts girls.

* SSH visits amazon.co.jp to order some copies...

I recall that Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had a similar bowdlerisation for the American edition when they change the work "Fuck" to "Belgium". Then they launched into a long-winded but funny explanation of why Belgium was the worst swearword everywhere in the whole universe, except for one, mostly harmless, little blue and green planet...

In 2.61 Prefinal, if you select a bunch of sprites to delete and one of them is used in a view, it comes up with the warning box to tell you. And you hit OK.  And it comes up again. And you hit OK. And it comes up again. And you hit OK. And it comes up again. And you hit OK.  and you wish you saved before doing all this...

Infinite loop! Arrghhh!

The phone company thinks I am in Edinburgh (0131)
The council tax man thinks I am in Edinburgh Unitary Authority
The post office thinks I am in West Lothian

Of course, currently I am at work, so I am definately in West Lothian...

On the other hand, CJ hasn't made AGS open-source...

Pretty good actually, besides the fact it doesn't rhyme, and anything that doesn't rhyme and is read without the music or tune, sounds silly.Ã,  :D

First of all, SSH, I'm not too sure what you're on about, possibily because you're speaking some kind of retardese.
What bit didn't you understand, or were you jsut wanting to make a personal insult?

Quote
I politely asked Minimi why he was posting his stuff here. Publicity, sure, I can understand that. But suddenly, you're accusing me of pretending to be a moderator. I'm being polite and not condemning Minimi for his decision to post here. I merely made an observation about both Minimi and juc's recent decision to post. I don't see why you have to resort to accusations and retarded crap about George Lucas and being paid of by Minimi. I don't see why you have to act so retsrded when all I'm doing is just showing interest in what Minimi is doing.

It was a joke about George Lucas, for goodness sake. And the moderator stuff was more aimed at LGM who obviously hadn't noticed that Minimi DID have a website. I didn't accuse anybody of anything.

Quote
Read above. Like I said, I'm not condemning you. Just merely interested.

Read above. I didn't condemn anyone, I just wanted to pre-emptively stop the thread turning into a "how dare you fill up the forums with this" type of thing. And all I did was politely answer your questions, albeit with some silly jokes thrown in.

Quote
And now that SSH is being an idiot, I regret even asking the question in the first place.

It seems weird that you blow up about this now and start calling me names. You've had your question answered by me and from the horses mouth then you attack me and say you won't post more in the thread... and you still haven't said what you mean by "overdoing it"
#4279
Overdoing it from which point of view? Do you mean Minimi has spent too much time creating this thread, or that you had to spend too much time reading it, or that it uses too much bandwidth, or that you're fed up of hearing about the stuff so much that you're put off trying it thus backfiring?

btw, did Minimi give you some money to keep his thread at the top of the forum, too, or are you enjoying the cut and thrust of the debate  ;)

I liked the two-column style. The issue with the Luna preview looked great printed.
